Alright folks and welcome to the Saturday SHIT Show.
00:26-00:41
I am your host Brandon and I will be with you the majority of well for the next couple of hours anyway.
00:41-00:57
So, we will talk about that and a bunch of other stuff coming up in the program.
00:57-01:15
First I would like to say congratulations to one of my favorite bands, Alter Bridge, this week celebrating their 20th anniversary of their first album.
01:15-01:34
It’s huge, I know as a young man growing up, when after Creed left it kind of left a little hole for me and Alter Bridge kind of filled it with all the guys from Creed and Miles Kennedy of course on the vocals.
01:34-01:58
It’s really cool for them to have 20 years ago. I remember I was in college when One Day Remains came out with this song, the first single off of that open your eyes here on Helix Rock Radio.
01:58-02:08
Alright little arch enemy, I really like them. They are one of my favorite kind of harder metal bands I guess you could say.
02:08-02:22
By the way folks if you want to hear any particular music you can reach out to me at Brandon@rockradio.live also on our X as well.
02:22-02:36
I strongly recommend email because I’m checking that on one of my screens here. I got mission central here, my studio, I got like three screens going on here, the music, the notes for the show and then of course I got the email up and all that.
02:36-02:42
Plus we stream on some other platforms so I got a lot going on here when we’re live.
02:42-02:50
But if you want to hear anything again it’s Brandon@rockradio.live I will keep an eye on the email.
02:50-03:06
So some big news this week. I kind of feel bad about how people are getting trolled online but apparently the Blue Origin flight with Katy Perry and everybody else.
03:06-03:14
Everybody’s been trolling them, Wendy’s, other celebrities, things like that.
03:14-03:29
So definitely a big publicity stunt. Like I said not only for Katy Perry but for Jeff Bezos, he was there, I mean the Kardashians was there, everybody, who was anybody, the amount of media cover it got.
03:29-03:39
And they were only actually up in that low earth orbit for I think 11 minutes out of the whole thing.
03:39-03:50
You know I don’t know if 11 minutes is definitely worth half a billion dollars but I mean if you can afford to go up, I mean what do you care if you know what I’m trying to say.
03:50-04:00
It’s just one of those things but either way it was kind of, it was a big publicity stunt, it was streamed, it was all over television and stuff like that.
04:00-04:27
I think Blue Origin actually is trying to sell tickets. I do believe, I think it’s Virgin Galactica as well. Both him and Blue Origin and I’m not sure about Elon’s company but I know a lot of them are saying that at the beginning there was a ton of ticket sales and now almost a year, two years later the ticket sales are slowing down.
04:27-04:39
There’s only so many people that can afford to go up in space for half a billion dollars. It’s definitely a very small market of people that can do that.
04:39-04:56
If you can afford it, God bless you, go ahead, do it. It’s a once in a lifetime experience but again there’s a limited number of people in this world that can spend half a billion dollars on 20 minutes a half hour up in space.
04:56-05:03
So good for those people that can afford it but it won’t be me. Let’s put it that way.
05:03-05:14
By the way some other things I wanted to bring up, a couple people have already messed, reached out to me and said hey with this Alta Bridge anniversary can we play a few more Alta Bridge songs?
05:14-05:28
I’m gonna throw in a few over the next couple of hours. I’ll throw one in next if you want. But like I said we will be throwing in some songs over the next couple of hours. The big hits off that album.
05:28-05:40
The next one I’m gonna play, Find the Real. This was actually how I found Alta Bridge. They were on Saturday Night Live and I don’t think the album was out yet.
05:40-05:50
I think this was like their first song or something they had ever played live as a band. It didn’t end up being their first single. They ended up going with Open Your Eyes the one we just played.
05:50-06:04
Metal Lingus obviously became Edge’s theme song and of course Broken Wing was another big one. But this was actually played live on Saturday Night Live once and they never did it again.
06:04-06:11
But followed by Nightwish and Hailstorm here on Helix, a rock, a radio.
06:11-06:20
Alright that was off of Hailstorm’s first album. Not one of their most popular songs but I really like it. It’s a heavy rocker for me.
06:20-06:30
So we are like I said we are in WrestleMania weekend and don’t worry we’re gonna talk about all that. Don’t you worry we’ll get to wrestling.
06:30-06:42
That’s kind of one of the reasons why we’re doing the show a little early. I will be over on another channel with a friend of mine and we’re gonna be kind of maybe doing a WrestleMania watch party.
06:42-06:54
And plus too I know a lot of you guys that listen are wrestling fans and when it comes to watching WrestleMania or listening to this show at 7 o’clock at night I know you’re gonna, you know, everybody.
06:54-07:00
I’m going to be watching so we thought we’d do it a little early today this way you know.
07:00-07:13
By the way if you like our show don’t forget you can always find the podcast as well up on our station rockradio.live as well as all places where find podcasts are available.
07:13-07:34
One thing I did want to bring out talking about TKO obviously owns UFC and apparently UFC’s deal with ESPN is not, their exclusivity window to renew is over.
07:34-07:53
ESPN which is owned by Disney says that you know the UFC they don’t see the billion dollars they’re paying for they’re not getting what they think they see you know things are a little bit down as far as the pay per views and the viewership of the product on ESPN plus.
07:53-08:20
And they are going to be UFC said no we want our billion dollars ESPN says you know we’re not seeing it ESPN or sorry they UFC went over to Netflix and wanted a billion dollar deal like they you know and you have Netflix is like no we’re not doing it we’re not it’s too much money and we’re not going to get enough out of it.
08:20-08:45
So now Dana White who I mean this whole partnership with WWE and TKO and UFC and all that was supposed to kind of help each other out a little bit and it looks like I guess they’re saying that they you know they’re not as Netflix isn’t as interested in in UFC as they were in the WWE so.
08:45-08:51
They’re looking Dana White said they have they’re looking they’re pitching to other broadcast partners.
08:51-08:55
This UFC I could see going to Max.
08:55-09:05
I could see, you know, ever since I was a kid, Max always HBO I mean HBO Max you know what I’m talking about has always been a big boxing partner.
09:05-09:17
I could really see UFC going there. I could even see UFC believe it or not possibly even go into showtime showtime’s always been kind of known for their boxing stuff.
09:17-09:19
They really have us.
09:19-09:34
Well I don’t know because showtime for a while there was doing another MMA thing so I don’t I don’t know if they can but I’m very interested to see what is going to happen with this because I know UFC will land somewhere.
09:34-09:36
But I don’t know.
09:36-09:44
Now I know myself. I don’t have ESPN plus but I know a lot of people that subscribe just for UFC.
09:44-09:53
Now the other problem is ESPN plus from a technical standpoint only has a few million subscribers.
09:53-10:00
So I mean I’m curious to see what’s going to happen to ESPN plus if UFC leaves are they going to lose that all that audience.
10:00-10:12
You know I’m wondering if maybe the majority of those people are UFC fans so we’ll have to see what happens ESPN plus has not been a great partner.
10:12-10:19
I don’t think for UFC it hasn’t really seen a lot of growth ESPN plus itself.
10:19-10:23
I don’t think it’s a lot of great. I don’t think there’s much on there personally.
10:23-10:34
You know I just I just think UFC is going to have to find a better partner and I don’t think I don’t think Disney and ESPN plus is the right partner but we’ll have to see.
10:34-10:41
UFC is in a weird spot because unlike wrestling it’s actually a sport so we’ll have to see what happens.
10:41-10:52
I’m curious I would I would be shocked if they didn’t land on HBO or Max what I’m going to call it because Max they’ve been doing boxing since I was a kid.
10:52-11:03
They’ve done a lot of stuff showtime does boxing still like I said we’ll see what they end up but Netflix is saying nope that that’s too rich of a deal for us.
11:03-11:13
Now the other thing is to UFC may have to go down with their evaluation they may they may have to say OK well instead of a billion let’s do half a half a billion or something like that.
11:13-11:27
We’ll have to say only time will tell but I’m actually very curious about this because this is going to be kind of big news because you know it UFC has had issues with television in the past.
11:27-11:41
If you remember in the early years they couldn’t even get on regular television and then of course they had you know the ultimate fighter for a long time and then that went off because the ratings were down and nobody wanted to pick it up.
11:41-11:49
So you know they’ve they’ve had their issues over the years so it’s very curious to see where they’re going to land and how it relates to WWE.
11:49-12:00
I think because they’re a sport I was wondering if like maybe CBS Sports or one of those sport one of those companies may pick up that deeper pockets.
12:00-12:14
We’ll have to say it’ll be fun to watch kick it off now with a new one from Marilyn Manson in the air tonight just released this week here on Helix a rock radio.
12:14-12:22
Do you have a collection of articles from the Internet that you want to read but don’t have time to dive into at the moment.
12:22-12:35
Listen later dot net has a new way to handle that problem with podcasting. Listen later dot net turns articles into episodes of a podcast so your reading list can be automatically transformed into a podcast.

12:57-13:03

Go to listen later dot net and sign up now it’s free plus Helix Rock radio listeners get 20% extra credits for their initial purchase if they reach out via the support form or the support email address.
13:16-13:24
Again that’s listen later dot net and sign up and get 20% extra credits by mentioning Helix Rock radio.
13:24-13:30
All right machine head is there anybody out there.
13:30-13:37
I really like that song so I’m like I got to throw that in. I have to there’s no no chance I got to throw it in.
13:37-13:52
So we got a couple of indie bands coming up here in a minute kind of like our version of like Test Drive where we kind of play a couple of indie bands that hit us up with music will get to get to that in a minute.
13:52-14:00
But let’s talk about WrestleMania because that’s I know I know that’s why you came there hasn’t been enough press coverage about it.
14:00-14:05
But like I said I want to talk about it because you guys know we talk about wrestling quite a bit on the show.
14:05-14:16
So night one I’m not really there’s not too many matches on really looking forward to a night one except for one or two.
14:16-14:28
But by the way I just want to say by the way Hall of Fame last night was I like triple H had a good speech I like seeing Lex Austin and Brett work grade.
14:28-14:38
It definitely was a better Hall of Fame than the year prior the year prior the only one I really cared about was Paul Heyman.
14:38-14:46
But everybody else is this year I think was a little better class less less people but I think a lot more star power.
14:46-14:57
And it was nice to see them in duck some a couple more posthumous ones legends of course come all stuff like that so it was it was a good good Hall of Fame.
14:57-15:14
I didn’t watch the whole thing I watched clips of it on Netflix Netflix YouTube but tonight I believe they’re opening up with the women’s title match that’s what they’ve been saying.
15:14-15:23
But we’ll have to see you know Rey Mysterio I’m not really interested in G Cargill not really that interested in.
15:23-15:27
I am looking forward to LA night I probably will watch that match.
15:27-15:31
I probably will watch the war Raiders match probably.
15:31-15:39
I was a fan of the war Raiders back when they were war machine obviously WDW got sued by Disney so that changed the name but yeah.
15:39-15:47
But there is rumors that the opening match is going to be Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte that’s going to kick off the night what to see.
15:47-15:56
World Heavyweight Championship Gunther versus Jey Uso I just don’t picture Jey Uso going over I have a feeling it’s going to be a loss.
15:56-16:07
I like Gunther anyway more than a lake Uso but I just don’t see Jey Uso job into Gunther I just don’t say Gunther job into Jey Uso but we’ll see.
16:07-16:15
And of course triple the triple that Seth Rollins Reigns punk that’s going to obviously deliver I’m looking forward to that match.
16:15-16:28
Like I said I’m not really to the Stratton match Charlotte Flair I’ll watch it Gunther is pretty good I might watch the war Raiders LA night but some of the other matches I’m like.
16:28-16:44
Night two which is tomorrow night I think he’s going to be a lot better you’re going to have obviously Cody and Sina they’ve been building to that I actually want to see Ripley sky and Bianca Belair I think that could be a good match.
16:44-16:53
I like to see the women’s tag team match to because I do like Liv Morgan and I do like Bailey so we’ll have to I’m looking forward to that.
16:53-17:09
Bronn Breaker versus you know Dominic Penta Finn Balor I like Finn Balor I do like Bronn Breaker so I’ll watch that I’m definitely going to watch Styles and Paul because I like AJ Styles I like Logan Paul.
17:09-17:28
Damian Priest McIntyre I’ll watch it I mean I night two obviously many is always the better night I mean it always is you know the first night kind of sets the table and the second night you know is is your bigger events.
17:28-17:40
But but the Romans Roman rain punk I will watch that tonight. Like I said I do like Gunther I will probably watch the LA night stuff I may watch the war Raiders.
17:40-17:41
We’ll see.
17:41-17:53
Like I said it’s you know it I mean I’ll probably watch it anyway just because everybody we have messaging me about it and stuff like that so you know there’s that.
17:53-18:06
One other thing I did want to bring up kind of neat as a wrestling fan AEW Dynamite now has had more episodes than WCW Nitro ever did.
18:06-18:22
I didn’t realize that by this point Nitro was my true would have been off the air at this point that you know Nitro I mean Saturday the Saturday WCW Saturday night was around I think even longer than Nitro was so that’s like I said I’m really.
18:22-18:25
I was kind of cool to hear that.
18:25-18:29
And then also to Maria Cannellis and her husband.
18:29-18:31
They have a podcast.
18:31-18:40
I think the grown up podcast and they were talking about you know I don’t watch I don’t listen to a lot of it.
18:40-18:46
But I know she just went through some kind of surgery for polyps I think they’re trying to have another kid.
18:46-18:54
And I think they found out she had polyps something that she went through come kind of minor surgery recently.
18:54-18:56
You know so good for her.
18:56-18:59
She said she’d be open to coming back to WWE.
18:59-19:03
I think if she came back again.
19:03-19:05
I mean this would be your third run.
19:05-19:11
But I don’t know we’ll have to see I think she’s enjoying being home being a mom her husband still wrestles.
19:11-19:18
So you know I think it’s you know I like Maria I always liked her character.
19:18-19:24
She was great and ring of honor her second run in WWE was really cool.
19:24-19:28
I like to see her come back and do more.
19:28-19:34
We’ll have to wait and see but I’m looking forward to that I really do like Maria Cannellis.
19:34-19:44
Like I said she’s always been one of my favorites ever since her ring of honor days and then TNA obviously and then she you know WWE.
19:44-19:55
The one person I really do enjoy watching is of course the hot mess Chelsea Green who is not on the card anywhere.
19:55-20:04
There’s no US title match and there’s no women’s intercontinental title match either.
20:04-20:13
So I was kind of I like Chelsea Green ever she was in TNA but nothing for her.
20:13-20:18
I was a little shocked by that considering the amount they built her up.
20:18-20:26
We’ll have to see. Kicking it off is going to be like I said three indie bands as the structure fails.
20:26-20:30
There there are heartless is the name of the song.
20:30-20:41
Kill Devil Theory they have woke and problematic and down to nothing by Dark Sun all three indie bands all available on Spotify and Apple Music.
20:41-20:44
Go ahead and check them out.
20:44-20:52
Like I said I think they are really good and like I said this is our little version of Octane’s test drive.
20:52-20:59
So like I said please help support indie bands please help support indie radio stations like us.
20:59-21:06
It makes just a world of difference getting these guys out there and getting them played on the air.
21:06-21:11
Kicking it off like I said heartless as the structure fails.
21:11-21:15
All right that was down to nothing by Dark Sun.
21:15-21:21
Like I said all three of those bands are indie and we’re glad to play their music kind of helped them out a little bit.
21:21-21:33
So this week by the way my tech friends Zoom had an outage for a couple of hours and Spotify had an outage for a couple of hours.
21:33-21:43
This was very relevant because we use Zoom and Spotify well not so much Spotify that often but Zoom a lot and they had an outage on Wednesday for like a couple of hours.
21:43-21:46
So it was kind of a pain in the butt.
21:46-21:53
These services we become so dependent and reliant on them when they go down it’s a fairly big issue.
21:53-22:14
So speaking of things that are well I think we have not this week and the week after we have a new Marvel movie coming out the Thunderbolts looking forward to that followed by the Fantastic Four which I’m actually very interested to see.
22:14-22:20
I believe this is probably going to be an earlier they haven’t reset the time thing yet.
22:20-22:29
I think it’s going to be earlier and then it’s going to lead up to you know possibly current time we’ll have to see.
22:29-22:42
I know for a fact they have officially announced that Sue Storm is going to be pregnant in this which is relevant because her son is a mutant and he go and he believe he hangs out with the X-Men a lot.
22:42-22:52
So I don’t know if they’re going to use this as a tie-in. I don’t know. Also to Doctor Strange in the comics helps her have the baby.
22:52-23:04
So I’m curious how this is going to all tie in if it will tie in. We will have to wait and see. Silver Surfer by the way is a woman this time.
23:04-23:26
I was kind of not not that it’s a problem. I was just like oh I thought OK that’s fine. So we’re not taking anything from the original first two Fantastic Four movies the ones with of course Chris Evans and Jessica Albin all that they’re not even referencing those.
23:26-23:39
So it’s a little bit different. I was a little thrown by it. But I’m looking forward to that. And of course Avengers and all that. I’m actually really excited for this year’s Marvel movies.
23:39-23:49
Like I said I want to see Fantastic Four. I did see the new Captain America. I want to go ahead and see Thunderbolts. So this is going to be a good year for movies.
23:49-24:01
We also have the new Jurassic Park coming out with Scarlett Johansson. I’m looking forward to that. There’s a lot of a lot of movies. I’m going to look forward to see this summer with the some blockbusters coming up.
24:01-24:18
Also to other series. Last of Us came out. That’s actually really good. I do enjoy that. It’s the second season. I forget her name but from Last Man Standing’s in it. She’s one of the protagonists.
24:18-24:33
I’m looking forward to that. We only have the first episode. Daredevil wrapped this past week. I didn’t expect an ending like that but we’ll have to see where they go with it.
24:33-24:43
I believe there’s going to be a Punisher series coming out soon. They’re saying that every year there’s going to be a Daredevil season. We’ll have to see what happens with that.
24:43-24:53
Overall, like I said, it’s a good time to be a Marvel fan. I know I keep saying that but there’s a lot going on with that. It’ll be fun.
24:53-25:10
Also too, as far as the Marvel movies coming out, nothing yet from DC. I don’t know what they’re doing over there but it’s been almost a year since we had a new DC movie.
25:10-25:31
In 2026, they have a new Batman movie coming out. Marvel has such a structure in place with Disney. I’m very curious to see what he’s going to do with DC.
25:31-25:47
It seems like they’re erasing everything that’s happened and going forward now. I’m looking forward to it. I like both DC and Marvel but I think I’m more invested in DC just because it’s what I used to read.
25:47-26:02
I want to talk a minute about this new technology that’s been people emailing me about this. I thought it was in-trink so I’m going to bring it up.
26:02-26:26
Apparently, Meta has launched a new piece of software called MovieMate. It’s going to be used April 30th. It’s the first time it’s going to be used. You’re going to use it while you’re watching the new Megan that’s coming out.
26:26-26:45
You can actually use it and you’re going to be in the theater with this thing. As you’re watching the movie, you have another screen. You can chat with the Megan bot. It’ll ask you trivia questions and you can access behind-the-scenes information.
26:45-27:00
It’s all while you’re watching the movie. It knows where you are in the movie. You can answer trivia, chat with the bot, all that kind of stuff. I’m not really sure if I want people with their phones out in the theater.
27:00-27:27
We’ve been talking for years about putting your phones on silent. Meta is coming out with this movie-made technology. They’re testing it right now at Blumhouse. They’re going to test it at the Halloween Film Festival.
27:27-27:37
We’ll have to see what their plans are with this. I’m not sure if I want people with their phones out all the time in the movie. It gets annoying enough sometimes.
27:37-27:50
Meta is doing that. Let’s see. Meta hasn’t gotten enough into our lives. Let’s go ahead and have Meta in the movie theater with annoying people.
27:50-27:59
What’s upsetting to me is that you may be enjoying it, but the people behind you might not. Let’s see what happens with that.
27:59-28:28
Also, I want to point out that Earth Day is the 22nd. I believe it’s coming Monday. Anyway, on the 22nd, Apple announced that it’s going to do a special thing where if you come in with a device to recycle for Earth Day, you will get 10% off Apple accessories in the store.
28:28-28:41
Apple Watch and Fitness+ users can earn limited edition awards by completing a 30-minute workout as well as other things on Earth Day.
28:41-29:00
If you have a device to recycle, you can get 10% off any accessories you buy.
29:00-29:17
10% off Apple accessories means you’re not getting 10% off an iPhone. You can get 10% off an earbud, 10% off the watch, or speaker.
29:17-29:32
But it’s not the iPhone. You can get 10% off a case. It’s not off their laptops, it’s just accessories.
29:32-29:52
If you want to pair your earbuds and you have an old phone laying around, go and bring the phone in. Let them recycle and save yourself 10% on your earbuds.
29:52-30:07
Big Bang Theory co-stars John Galecki and Kaylee Cuoco have been on the internet for the last couple days. They’re hyping up a new game for Game Night.
30:07-30:19
If you go on Instagram, you can find it. It’s pretty cool to see those two back together again in a little comedy skit. I like the Big Bang Theory, so does my wife. It’s a really great show.
30:19-30:36
It’s promoting some kind of new video game on the mobile device. It’s pretty fun. I liked it. Also, I would like to point out something else that was interesting to me.
30:36-30:51
Android phones will now automatically restart every three days for security reasons. Apple’s rolling out a similar function. They did anyway this past year. But Android is doing it now.
30:51-31:05
If it sees your phone as sitting there not doing anything and it has an update, it’s going to restart it. Security is important. Good to see Android doing that.
31:05-31:24
I know people like my wife never reboot their phones unless they absolutely have to and you’re not getting updates. It’s the same thing with Windows. Nowadays, Microsoft pushes the updates or will do them automatically because they’re trying to get people to patch their computer so that they’re not insecure.
31:24-31:38
So, Leia said, “Pretty cool. I like it. Windows doesn’t now, so it’s not like it’s a new thing.” I really think the Mac should start doing that. Apple doesn’t. You have to hit OK to do.
31:38-31:49
I’m curious if Apple will bring this to the Mac eventually because Windows got it. iPhones got it. Androids got it. The iPad has it. I’d be very curious to see if Apple brings it to the Mac.
31:49-32:02
Alright, that was the Letter Black Kiss of Death. No new music by them for the last year. For the last what? It’s been like two years? Three years? I really like the Letter Black. I wish they would do another album.
32:02-32:18
I think her husband, I mean it’s a husband and wife band. I wish they really would do another album. But I think he’s been touring with somebody. 2021, somebody just tanned in me the info.
32:18-32:30
Oh wow, 2021. I didn’t think it was that long ago. So it’s been more than four years. Like I said, I think he’s been busy. Her husband’s been busy touring with another band. So I think that’s why they haven’t done anything.
32:30-32:33
I personally like them. They’re really great.
32:33-32:48
The other thing I want to talk about, Bon Jovi announced the other day that he’s open to Richie Sambora coming back to the band. It’s been 10 years since Richie left. And Richie said he’s interested in coming back.
32:48-33:00
So I’m curious to see if any of this is going to materialize from this. It might, it might not, but it would be cool to see those guys get back together and rock again.
33:00-33:12
If Creed can get back together after almost like 20 years, 15, no, 15 years, 20 since their first reunion back to then go too well.
33:12-33:22
If those guys can get back together, I’m sure Bon Jovi could get back together. That’s an incredible band. What a run.
33:22-33:36
I actually watched a Saturday Night Live thing with Bon Jovi back from when the band first started where they were trying to think of like a name and Bon Jovi’s like, let’s call it Bon Jovi.
33:36-33:45
Well, what are we going to call our first album then? Well, Bon Jovi. Well, John, we can’t name everything after you. It’s a great bit from Saturday Night Live.
33:45-33:55
It’s only like four or five minutes. You can find that on YouTube. It was really funny. I had never seen that until somebody, one of the other DJs showed it to me. I thought that was pretty funny. I liked it.
33:55-34:05
Like I said, they’re one of my favorite bands. We talked about them last week with his charity work and all that. He’s just really cool. Good family man.
34:05-34:15
Talks about how blessed he is, how he knows that the life he has, the fans gave it to him by listening to his music and stuff like that. He also worked his ass off for it too.
34:15-34:26
I know what he’s trying to say. He’s a very humble guy and that’s why I think I like them. One of Jersey’s favorite sons, him and Bruce Springsteen.
34:26-34:38
We’re going to kick it off with another Altebridge song, Broken Wings, followed by local hometown talent here from where I live up in the Poconos, breaking Benjamin there.
34:38-34:48
Like I said, local talent followed by Skillet here on Helix Rock Radio. All right. That was Skillet Rebirthing.
34:48-35:01
One of the things I do think it’s really interesting about the internet, when Skillet actually came out with that album, it actually went gold along with their second album, went gold.
35:01-35:15
Altebridge actually, their first album 20 years ago, One Day of Remains, went gold. And at that time, there was like a weird transition where CDs were kind of going away for online, some of that.
35:15-35:27
And I remember like a lot of people saying, well, didn’t do that well. It only went gold. Nowadays with streaming and stuff like that, you know, band like Skillet, you know, gets gold.
35:27-35:36
It’s a big deal. But back then going gold was not really considered, you know, that good compared to platinum.
35:36-35:45
But when you really look at it, Altebridge has always been like that band that they have a huge following. They sell places out.
35:45-35:52
But, you know, their albums sales were never really huge. But I think a lot of that streaming and stuff like that.
35:52-36:02
And I think that they’ve revamped that system by the way nowadays. And I think that if they revamped it earlier, Altebridge would have kind of their first album would have went better than gold.
36:02-36:14
Because, I mean, at that time, buying songs on iTunes and stuff like that wasn’t kind of as big of a deal and weren’t counted into your record sales and all that.
36:14-36:34
It was a different time in 20 years ago, 2005, especially with music and stuff like that. An industry that went into, you know, the new era, kicking and streaming along with companies like, I mean, now we see it with television.
36:34-36:42
Television is going into the streaming era, kicking and streaming. It’s ridiculous. Adapt with the times, you know what I mean?
36:42-36:51
Let’s see. Oh, something else I wanted to talk about. Speaking of things going, you know, world changing.
36:51-37:00
You know, years ago, the ratings and stuff like that were, you know, big deal and they still are. But now they calculate in DVRs.
37:00-37:12
They calculate in people watch on streaming services, stuff like that. It’s totally different. But apparently they’re saying Carrie Underwood, you know, joining American Idol.
37:12-37:27
Apparently they’re saying the ratings have her up. You know, viewership is up compared to where it was last year. Obviously she replaced Katy Perry, which I think Katy Perry was pretty cool.
37:27-37:42
I remember JLo was on there for a couple of seasons along with Steven Tyler, some of that. But they’re saying that Carrie being on there the first year really bumped the ratings so far anyway.
37:42-37:55
You know, they’re in the five million people watching it. So, but interesting enough, I thought this kind of shocked me a little bit, thinking how big American Idol is.
37:55-38:11
Apparently it’s still number two when it goes head to head with the voice. So I thought that was interesting. I didn’t kind of know that the voice actually is number one in that spot and idols number two.
38:11-38:30
Apparently the voice has a much bigger following. They say 10% to 20% more viewers watch the voice. So the voice does six million, where idol does between four and four and five.
38:30-38:46
Let’s see. Yeah, that sounds about right. Let’s see. Given Carrie Underwood, the viewership did boost at the beginning, but it started to wean. Yeah, that does happen with, with, when we change hosts or anything like that.
38:46-38:54
Same thing went, you know, when you change hosts, that you get a big boom and then it usually starts to taper off any of those shows are like that.
38:54-39:05
The same thing happened with Howard Stern and America’s Got Talent. It was huge and then it got a little, you know, last year it wasn’t, it was still a lot of viewers, but not as many as the year before.
39:05-39:14
And over time it just tapers off. That kind of just happens with all kind of shows that are, you know, 20-some-on episodes long.
39:14-39:26
So, but it’s cool to see her on there. She won it, like what, I think 10 years ago. And now she’s back on there as a judge. She is a huge superstar in country music.
39:26-39:37
Like I said, you see by the way, and I don’t really watch too much of that show. I mostly watch some clips on YouTube, but you can see the majority of people coming on that show.
39:37-40:02
There’s a lot more country artists now than there were years past. I will be heading out here, but I want to thank all of you for joining me, hanging out with me, chatting with me, talking about wrestling, you know, celebrity news, all the stuff that we talk about here every single week on the Saturday shit show.
40:02-40:16
I’m going to leave you with one more Alter Bridge song down to my last. I do want to point out though, a nice person email. No, by the way, if you want to email request songs, Brandon@rockradio.live.
40:16-40:38
He pointed out he’s like, why can’t you play white knuckles? And while white knuckles is a great song by Alter Bridge, that is off their Blackbird album. So Blackbird, it was another great album. I mean, they all their albums have been good, but Blackbird was, I mean, amazing.
40:38-40:58
And really, in my opinion, was one of the, I think it’s their crown jewel of like one that is like their black album. Like, you know what I’m trying to say? That’s like, I always felt that that that album was like that was their black album. That was their stairway to heaven album.
40:58-41:19
You know, the Blackbird’s just amazing. I can’t wait to that. That comes up. We’ll play a lot of songs of that because it’s such an amazing album. Again, down to my last by Alter Bridge. Thank you very much for hanging out with me on this Saturday. And I will see you next week on the shit show.
