Welcome to the Saturday Shit Show.
00:24-00:37
I am your host Brandon and I will be hanging out with you for the next couple of hours anyway.
00:37-00:44
Playing tons of new music. We got tons of new rock to play.
00:44-00:50
Papa Roach, their first album, 25 years old.
00:50-00:59
So much to talk about tons of new music here on the Saturday Shit Show.
00:59-01:07
But first I’m going to kick you off with a new one by Hale Storm. Always wins.
01:07-01:11
Here on Helix Rock Radio.
01:11-01:18
Alright that was Papa Roach, broken home off their infest album.
01:18-01:27
We’re going to throw a few of the hits off that album in over the next couple of hours because I mean well it was such a great album.
01:27-01:31
I’m not going to say to admit it but it came out when I was in high school.
01:31-01:38
I mean that album, I mean it was everywhere. I mean that was a mega hit for them as far as an album goes.
01:38-01:45
I remember when Last Resort came out everybody was going crazy over that song.
01:45-01:48
Again just an amazing album. The whole album is great.
01:48-01:53
Really I could play every song off that album because every song was great.
01:53-01:57
It’s going to be hard to pick just a few but we’re going to play the big hits off it.
01:57-02:04
A lot of news this week obviously. Last weekend WrestleMania weekend.
02:04-02:12
I still say two nights is too much. The second night is always better than the first night obviously.
02:12-02:16
But I just think the two nights is just too much personally.
02:16-02:24
I noticed there were a lot more empty seats on the first night than the second night. They had bigger attendance the second night.
02:24-02:28
But again WWE doesn’t care. They’re renting the arena anyway.
02:28-02:32
Might as well sell more tickets. I just think it was too much.
02:32-02:36
But a couple of big shockers of the night.
02:36-02:40
Joe Henry showing up. Randy Orton squashed him.
02:40-02:50
I think that was just to get TNA some promotion and also to kind of get him introduced to the audience.
02:50-02:55
He made an appearance at the Rumble. He made an appearance at WrestleMania.
02:55-03:00
I think it’s only a matter of time before he’s permanently in WWE.
03:00-03:06
I love TNA wrestling but unfortunately a lot of their big names do end up coming to WWE.
03:06-03:14
So good for him. He’ll make a lot more money but we are going to eventually miss him in TNA wrestling.
03:14-03:21
Becky Lynch showing back up finally returning after all those months after well it was over a year.
03:21-03:26
Good for her man. She took some time off to be a mom. Nothing wrong with that.
03:26-03:31
Really good to see her back. I love I really enjoy her.
03:31-03:36
She brought her daughter to the press conference. So good for her. It was really cool.
03:36-03:46
Dominic Mysterio picking up the Icy Championship win. I didn’t expect them to drop it from Brombreaker but they did.
03:46-03:50
So good for him man. Dirty Dom.
03:50-03:55
Let’s see some other. I didn’t I mean I should I didn’t expect Cody to drop it to Cena.
03:55-03:59
I understand why they did it. Didn’t expect it.
03:59-04:03
Kind of a little bit of a shocker for me. I didn’t see that coming.
04:03-04:11
I didn’t see the tag champs. You know I didn’t see those changing hands but that’s fine.
04:11-04:18
I honestly thought for sure that Tiffany Stratton was going to drop the belt to Charlotte. She didn’t.
04:18-04:24
So that’s good. I don’t really like Charlotte anyway but let’s see.
04:24-04:29
I’m going to go to the sky picking up the win. First of all that was a brutal match.
04:29-04:35
I actually my wife is actually follows.
04:35-04:44
What’s up. Rhea Ripley. She’s like wasn’t coming to me on social media. She actually had a really bad black eye from that match.
04:44-04:52
That match was great with her and EO and Bianca. Great match. Loved it.
04:52-04:57
Didn’t expect Jay Uso to pick up the win over Gunther.
04:57-05:03
So Yip is officially the new champ. So good for him.
05:03-05:07
I did. There was a lot of things I didn’t expect.
05:07-05:18
First night turn where Heyman lines himself with Seth Rollins and screws over Punk and screws over Roman.
05:18-05:25
Didn’t see that happening. He has we all remember years ago when he screwed over Brock.
05:25-05:32
You know but I didn’t expect it but that’s okay. It was a lot of fun. A lot of great matches.
05:32-05:37
It’s just a wonderful night. Obviously Triple H in the Hall of Fame.
05:37-05:41
Natural disasters in the Hall of Fame. Luger.
05:41-05:47
You know just the Hall of Fame was a great night. The whole weekend was just a lot of fun.
05:47-05:51
Obviously the last night’s the big night. The big send off night.
05:51-05:55
But the whole weekend you have a good time. You have some fun.
05:55-06:02
It was a lot of fun for me. It is unfortunate to hear about Mungo McMichael passing recently.
06:02-06:08
Those of you that were WCW fans remember him as part of the Four Horsemen.
06:08-06:24
Mungo was big in WCW. You also remember too he was and this if you really got to pay be you really got to be a nerdy wrestling fan to know this and I am so he was actually one of the best.
06:24-06:32
He was actually one of the lumberjacks at WrestleMania 10 for the Bam Bam Biggiglove vs. Lawrence Taylor match.
06:32-06:40
That was even before he joined WCW. So that’s kind of how far back Mungo goes.
06:40-06:49
Originally a football player gone wrestler which happens fairly often but you know it’s the same to see him pass the young age.
06:49-06:54
I think he had Lou Gehrig’s disease or something. You know really a shame.
06:54-07:01
I feel bad for Deborah McMichael who used to be his wife. Obviously he was married to Stone Cold for a while.
07:01-07:10
It’s a shame. You can take care of yourself as much as you can but when you get something like that there’s nothing you can do.
07:10-07:16
My heart goes out to his family. It’s sad. I think he was pretty young. I don’t even think he was 70.
07:16-07:22
That’s sad but unfortunately they put him in the hospice and it didn’t last long.
07:22-07:26
But like I said unfortunately stuff like that happens.
07:26-07:33
Overall I think wrestling we had it was a good weekend also to that Friday.
07:33-07:41
We had a TNA thing. Obviously AEW obviously had something Saturday night.
07:41-07:46
So I mean it was a busy weekend for a wrestling fan.
07:46-07:51
I think now we can kind of wrestle mania is over. We can kind of step back a little bit.
07:51-07:59
Just a couple weeks they have another pay per view but I mean we all know once that.
07:59-08:07
Once WrestleMania is over everything else is WrestleMania sets WWE up for the rest of the year.
08:07-08:12
So like I said it was fun. Enjoyed it. Look forward to next year.
08:12-08:18
Kicking it off now with a new one by Billy Idol and Avril Lavigne.
08:18-08:24
77. Let me know what you think of this one. A lot of people asked me to play it because Billy Idol.
08:24-08:27
I don’t know. It might be a little too poppy for us.
08:27-08:38
Let us know. Shit has hit me up on the email Brandon at rockradio.live here on Helix Rock Radio.
08:38-08:42
Alright that was of course Papa Roach’s last resort.
08:42-08:53
Before that acid watch the reason I played that I will tell you why is because they have I think they played for the first time together in like almost three decades.
08:53-09:01
So I’m like alright we got to play some of that just because it like after so long it’s why not you know.
09:01-09:16
Speaking of groups that are getting back together 30 seconds to Mars is saying that they are going to have new music out and it’s going to be more epic than Linkin Park getting back together.
09:16-09:27
I don’t know if I truly believe that but we will see. Disturbed announced they have a documentary coming out here over the summer.
09:27-09:35
They’re saying possibly July so we’ll read and see but that actually could be really really cool.
09:35-09:41
I did watch the Nickelback one and that was really great. I enjoyed that myself.
09:41-09:52
They actually said that once that documentary hit Netflix it actually saw Nickelback saw a big bump in people listening to their music so good for them.
09:52-10:02
Speaking of music apparently the votes are in who people would like to see in the rock and roll hall fame.
10:02-10:16
Fish is number one bad company number two Billie Eilish number three Cindy Lorper.
10:16-10:32
She actually isn’t in the rock and roll hall of fame. She number four Joe Cocker number five Soundgarden number six and Chubby checker number was he he was number seven.
10:32-10:49
Yeah so surprisingly enough the black crows I don’t think they got enough votes Mariah Carey not enough votes white stripes not enough votes outcast and Oasis not enough and mana mana.
10:49-10:55
I don’t know if that’s how you say it didn’t get enough votes but it looks like those are going to be out of all of them.
10:55-11:05
So one of those are going to go in the rock and roll hall of fame. So fish. I don’t know. I don’t really like them but I know they’re hugely popular.
11:05-11:10
Cindy Lorper I’m surprised I’d be surprised if she doesn’t get in.
11:10-11:20
A short career got a big reboot when she went on the apprentice a long time ago. Soundgarden I’m kind of surprised they’re not in there yet.
11:20-11:26
But I guess a lot of the grunge bands are coming up and when they can be inducted next things with 30 years since your last album something like that.
11:26-11:30
I’ll kick it off now. Snake Charmer Autumn Kings.
11:30-11:37

12:32-12:40
Again that’s listen later.net and sign up and get 20% extra credits by mentioning Helix Rock Radio.
12:40-12:52
Alright that was silos if I fall. It’s also from Ashes to New is in there. Judge and jury it’s a big collaboration.
12:52-12:59
That one actually came up on my Instagram as one I should listen to so I think it’s not bad.
12:59-13:14
So new tech news this week. Nintendo switch pre orders opened up on the 24th. So it’s kind of interesting. And the reason why I brought this up was I had a couple people that reached out to me.
13:14-13:25
Not the radio station but at work and said to me I’m trying to order a switch for my husband or my kid and I keep it’s telling me I don’t have enough game hours.
13:25-13:46
So apparently if you try to order a Nintendo switch to through your Nintendo account or through an email address of you know somebody’s Nintendo account you have to have at least 50 hours played in the last I believe was last year the last six months.
13:46-13:57
They were doing that to try to prevent bots and things like that from you know ordering them and scalping them.
13:57-14:13
So I thought that was kind of neat kind of cool. The only problem is if you know I mean it does cut down but you had a couple people that like you know it’s always gonna be outliers but I thought that was kind of funny made me kind of laugh about that.
14:13-14:28
So they ended up just ordering it off like Walmart.com or Best Buy or one of those. But I thought that was kind of interesting. I looked it up and I guess Nintendo did that like I said try to help with that sort of stuff but I guess it burns some people.
14:28-14:39
It happens but I thought that was kind of cool. I guess Nintendo had more pre orders than anybody the retailers anyway so that’s why they did that.
14:39-14:54
So good for Nintendo at least trying something right. Also to this week as far as tech news goes Roku rolled out a bunch of stuff. The Roku channel now available on Google TV and Apple TV.
14:54-15:08
I’ve only been asking that for years. I like the Roku channel. There’s a lot of good free TV on there if you don’t mind ads. I know there are tons of live TV services Pluto and free live TV Plex has it.
15:08-15:29
But I don’t know a YouTube TV just seems to have more stuff maybe I like. So for me it’s a win. If it’s not a big deal it’s not a big deal but the reason why Roku is doing this is because they you know they’re understanding that OK maybe people might want to watch this content we can make money on the ads even if they don’t have a Roku.
15:29-15:41
Roku unveiled a bunch of new products this week. I was actually fortunately I was supposed to be at the event but I wasn’t able to go because I had something going on.
15:41-15:55
But I mean there’s only so much you can do with the Roku as far as you know streaming services but they also showed an 85 inch TV. They showed that they’re going to have a Bluetooth streaming mode.
15:55-16:07
That was pretty cool. And then they kind of announced the big one which is that they’re getting into the camera business. They’re going to try to start doing wireless cameras things like that.
16:07-16:21
I think Apple is going to be getting into this as well because there’s only so much you can do with a streaming box you know but apparently they’re also to trying to expand in other markets that they’ve never been in before.
16:21-16:37
Canada Mexico Brazil UK. You know Central South America places like that because they’re trying to expand. You know it’s you can only sell so much to Americans before you got to look elsewhere you know.
16:37-16:50
But I think as well putting the Roku channel on on the other device is going to help because I know myself the other day I was my wife and I opened it up and we were watching some sitcoms and stuff that we had wanted to watch but you know it’s on there for free
16:50-17:04
and the quality is good so you know you sit through a couple of ads who cares but you know I think this is a good move for them. I wish I would have been at the event and look like it was pretty cool but I couldn’t even but it was really cool.
17:04-17:19
Roku also announced a streaming stick that they’re going to price like 30 bucks 40 bucks which is like their most expensive model but it’s still cheaper than a 4k fire stick and I really I tell everybody please don’t buy the fire stick.
17:19-17:34
It’s such a piece of crap by the Roku for 20 30 bucks. I mean you don’t have to buy an Apple TV but even if you buy a Google TV the low end one for 40 50 bucks it’s still better than that stupid fire TV stick.
17:34-17:46
I hate that thing. It’s just it’s so bad. I don’t understand how but I know it’s on low end hardware and stuff but it just doesn’t make sense to me. Why does it have to be so bad.
17:46-18:04
But that was I guess a lot of fun Roku. I always liked Roku. I’ve had them for a long time. We’ve got because of what I do I have to test stuff so we have a Roku in one room Apple TV and another and a Google streaming stick in the other one so it’s kind of fun.
18:04-18:27
We had quite a mixture of things so it’s all good time. Other things that I wanted to bring up as well tech related Netflix announced that they had a great great quarter also to the first quarter where they are not going to announce subscriber number.
18:27-18:46
So you know they said they’re they said they have roughly 700 million people. I don’t I mean watching now now granted that doesn’t mean they have 700 million accounts. That just means you know people with family plans they count that as six.
18:46-19:03
By the way folks I want to point that out to you to anybody when they count family plans a six even though like in my house we only have two or three people watching they counted as six so those numbers are a little skewed.
19:03-19:26
But they have said that you know the WWE Raw and other weekly content has been a big driver of growth and stuff like that. But they are not reporting numbers anymore but they said revenues were up 12.5% and their churn rate which is basically how many people leave the service come back is low.
19:26-19:40
HBO Max announced that their turn was low as well. But surprisingly enough the biggest turn is Apple TV Apple gets a lot of people that subscribe and cancel subscribe and cancel.
19:40-19:58
Like I said Apple has said that their Apple T plus service is not profitable so I mean Apple’s making it other places trust me they’re going to be just fine but they’re saying that it’s not profitable but in the same breath.
19:58-20:12
Okay Apple this week announced that they’ve overtaken Samsung in the global market by 1%. So again they’re doing just fine.
20:12-20:27
Kicking it off now with some new music from Daughtry the Day I Die followed by Flat Black and Belly Up returned to by return to dust here on Helix Rock Radio.
20:27-20:44
That is my favorite Good Charlotte song Good Charlotte and a little bit of Avenged Sevenfold. Speaking of bands that are great Green Day is going to be honored with a star on the Walk of Fame.
20:44-20:58
I have that here on my list of things I wanted to mention. So good for them and they are definitely been around forever. Kind of help usher punk into my era.
20:58-21:11
I remember back in the early 2000s when Green Day came out with Baskin-Case and all that kind of stuff. Kind of like I said ushering punk into into my generation so good for them.
21:11-21:40
Also to I want him to oh man my voice. Also to wanted to bring up Minecraft movie we mentioned it last week did 300 million. Apparently it’s done upwards of 720 million as of yesterday so that movie breaking big I am sure Microsoft is just I don’t know if they they sold the rights or lease the rights or if they’re funding this but kudos to them.
21:40-21:51
Kudos to them man. I don’t think if Microsoft did if Microsoft didn’t own it I don’t think they’re we have Minecraft movie. I just don’t see the original owner ever doing something like that but good for them.
21:51-22:02
Halo has not been a huge success for them even though I liked it but apparently Minecraft is doing really good. You know as far as and this is a marketing tools what it is.
22:02-22:21
They’re hoping to get more people into playing Minecraft just like the Barbie movie they said didn’t make money but what it made in apparently Barbie saw a big bump in people buying Barbie so same thing with Nintendo they said the Mario movie didn’t make anything
22:21-22:36
but they saw a huge bump in Switch sales and Mario game sales so they use this as a marketing tool but I could see Minecraft make it some money I know the Barbie movie they say it didn’t make money but I don’t know how it made a billion dollars in the box office.
22:36-22:41
I don’t know how but they say it didn’t they said it didn’t make money.
22:41-23:03
Also a couple of things I do want to talk about in the entertainment space. Last of us. I don’t want to give it away because it just aired last week but if you’re a fan of the game not a big shocker if you’re not a fan of the game there was a big shocking moment so go ahead and watch it and you know see what you see what you think.
23:03-23:14
I knew it was coming because I have played the games but my wife didn’t and I’m like you didn’t know that she’s like no so that was a good time.
23:14-23:30
Also to Amazon obviously bought the James Bond properties. Apparently Chris Nolan is in the running to direct the next couple James Bond so we will say I think Christopher Nolan after the job he did with Batman.
23:30-23:39
I love to see what he do on a Bond movie. I am very like I want to see that I think it’d be great to see.
23:39-23:59
Also to wanted to point out one other thing and I’m not a I guess my my kids show told me this apparently Brian Jones he’s a big influence known as liver King there’s a big documentary coming up on Netflix about him and apparently it’s pretty big and it’s pretty darn controversial.
23:59-24:13
I have not I mean it’s not yet it’s supposed to be out I think this week. So I’m not a big fan of his but apparently he told people that he did that on and then obviously a big steroid scandal.
24:13-24:25
It’s not like we haven’t heard about stuff like this before but apparently that he’s getting a big documentary made about him on Netflix so a lot of people are looking forward to it.
24:25-24:31
By the way I would like to bring up if you want to request stuff I’m still going to be here for quite a while yet.
24:31-24:39
Lauren emailed she’s to Brandon at rock radio rock radio dot live.
24:39-24:46
She wants to hear the new one by Lincoln Park so we’re going to play that next on shattered.
24:46-24:54
I also got ghosts lined up for you and a new one by Fawze here on Helix of rock radio.
24:54-25:08
All right that was this love by notice so glad to give like people like Laura Brina and people that are trying to get discovered you know trying to get them some airplay.
25:08-25:18
Let’s see I have in email here from Mike I was reading this while the music was going to stop a second.
25:18-25:26
Apparently he would like to hear a little Alice in chains so I’ll line that up next.
25:26-25:29
And this is one I wanted to bring up.
25:29-25:34
Paul emailed me saying like to station listen when I can.
25:34-25:42
New one by all American rejects now I didn’t know all American rejects had a new song out so thank you Paul.
25:42-26:03
I’m going to line that up next sandbox and we line up some Papa Roach and let’s see also to somebody wrote in Keith Wallin from breaking Ben local talent from up here in Scranton has a new hit can you please play it.
26:03-26:28
I will line that up too. So we got a bunch of bunch of new music still coming your way and a bunch of requests thank you for emailing in I appreciate that you can always email in song requests at Brandon at rock radio dot live and I will play them here on the Saturday shit show here on Helix rock radio.
26:28-26:35
All right again Papa Roach dead sell off their first album.
26:35-26:44
So over WrestleMania weekend if you had to notice there was a lot of podcasts and stuff like that wrestlers on it.
26:44-27:02
What was cool was Stephanie McMahon has her own kind of podcast now and she had on Dana White who is pretty much like he’s one of the top guys at TKO because obviously he runs the UFC.
27:02-27:28
And it was funny because he was talking to Stephanie about her dad Vince which Vince is no longer with them to read to do if you if you don’t know you haven’t turned on the news he’s been under tons of scrutiny for scandals and stuff like that but one of the things Dana talked about was he said he always jokes around says he had story about Vince’s he always said he had stories about Vince that could go on for days.
27:28-27:38
He talked to I guess Stephanie on the podcast on her podcast and she said it was there any kind of stories about you know my dad.
27:38-27:50
And he had interest couple interesting stories saying that UFC wanted to put on the ultimate fighter which they were going to use as a tool to sell pay per views right.
27:50-28:00
And apparently he had worked a deal out with NBC to bring it to USA Network and lo and behold.
28:00-28:14
I guess NBC didn’t even know this somehow. You know he made the deal to put the ultimate fighter on right after raw and I guess the he got a call from NBC and said hey we got a problem.
28:14-28:26
We didn’t know this but Vince McMahon actually has first right of refusal for a combat sport on any channel we own.
28:26-28:35
Now I know you’re going to say how is that possible because Vince was buddy buddy with Dick Ebersol who ran NBC for a long time.
28:35-28:44
So somehow I guess he got that a little in the contract and Dana White got got screwed out of putting the ultimate fighter on after raw.
28:44-29:01
Eventually it did because I think it went on when WWE went on Spike TV they did I believe but ended up WWE or I’m sorry UFC ended up getting a deal with Fox but I think one spike TV for like a year.
29:01-29:12
The ultimate fighter was on after raw and then something else happened but yeah it was pretty funny and they talked about how Shane McMahon tried to buy.
29:12-29:21
