00:00:12.000 –> 00:00:20.000
My name is Brandon and thank you for joining us on the weekend shit show.

00:00:20.000 –> 00:00:22.000
Yes, that is the name of the show, folks.

00:00:22.000 –> 00:00:27.000
We were going to call it the Saturday shit show, but then we also did the show on Sunday.

00:00:27.000 –> 00:00:30.000
So is it the Sunday shit show?

00:00:30.000 –> 00:00:33.000
So we decided let’s just call it the weekend shit show.

00:00:33.000 –> 00:00:37.000
This way it doesn’t matter what day we’re playing it, Saturday or Sunday.

00:00:37.000 –> 00:00:45.000
Somebody in the chat says, “Well, what happens if you do the show during the week?”

00:00:45.000 –> 00:00:48.000
Well, then it would just be the regular shit show.

00:00:48.000 –> 00:00:53.000
I don’t know. Let’s not, you know, get so worried about technicalities, okay?

00:00:53.000 –> 00:00:57.000
A lot of stuff to talk about today on the show as well.

00:00:57.000 –> 00:01:01.000
I went to go see Deadpool in Wolverine.

00:01:01.000 –> 00:01:03.000
A lot of cameos.

00:01:03.000 –> 00:01:09.000
If you haven’t really seen it by this point, like I said, a lot of cameos.

00:01:09.000 –> 00:01:13.000
There are tons of YouTube videos on it, stuff like that.

00:01:13.000 –> 00:01:20.000
Great. One of the best, definitely Marvel movies we have seen in quite some time.

00:01:20.000 –> 00:01:24.000
Definitely blew it out of the water.

00:01:24.000 –> 00:01:29.000
And then of course that same weekend announcing, of course, Robert Downey Jr.

00:01:29.000 –> 00:01:35.000
coming back to play Dr. Doom in two years for the Avengers movie.

00:01:35.000 –> 00:01:39.000
Disney’s definitely got to be riding high.

00:01:39.000 –> 00:01:46.000
And of course, you know, just the highest grossing R movie in history.

00:01:46.000 –> 00:01:51.000
They did announce that the next R movie coming out is going to be Blade.

00:01:51.000 –> 00:01:55.000
And there’s also, like I said, there’s two Avengers coming out.

00:01:55.000 –> 00:01:59.000
They have a lot on the plate right now.

00:01:59.000 –> 00:02:02.000
Obviously Captain America is coming out.

00:02:02.000 –> 00:02:07.000
Marvel is definitely riding high right now.

00:02:07.000 –> 00:02:10.000
It’s definitely a resurgence.

00:02:10.000 –> 00:02:15.000
They had a little lull there for a year or two with their movies and their series and stuff like that.

00:02:15.000 –> 00:02:21.000
But I think this is definitely going to be a resurgence for them.

00:02:21.000 –> 00:02:23.000
So great to see Marvel.

00:02:23.000 –> 00:02:28.000
Obviously a lot of news coming out because of the San Diego Comic Con, which is the big one.

00:02:28.000 –> 00:02:32.000
So like I said, a lot of news coming out of there.

00:02:32.000 –> 00:02:35.000
So great. A lot of fun.

00:02:35.000 –> 00:02:42.000
Tonight, Saturday night, we have, of course, Summer Slam.

00:02:42.000 –> 00:02:49.000
Big event. Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan looking forward to that.

00:02:49.000 –> 00:02:58.000
I’m sorry to say not overly thrilled with the Cody Rose match with Sequoia, but it is what it is.

00:02:58.000 –> 00:03:03.000
Definitely looking forward to the Punk/Drew match.

00:03:03.000 –> 00:03:07.000
Seth Rollins, special guest referee.

00:03:07.000 –> 00:03:13.000
Definitely is going to be a big pay per view.

00:03:13.000 –> 00:03:19.000
I don’t know. I wish I was more excited about Summer Slam.

00:03:19.000 –> 00:03:25.000
Because I just don’t think there’s going to be really a lot of title changes.

00:03:25.000 –> 00:03:30.000
Logan Paul, LA Knight, definitely going to be a good match.

00:03:30.000 –> 00:03:36.000
I think if there’s going to be any title change at Summer Slam, I think it’s going to be that.

00:03:36.000 –> 00:03:41.000
I think they’re going to make Logan Paul drop the belt at LA Knight. I have just a feeling.

00:03:41.000 –> 00:03:48.000
I don’t know about Sami Zayn and Bron Breakker. There could be a title change there.

00:03:48.000 –> 00:03:54.000
Damian Priest, Gunther, I don’t know. I doubt it. He won it at Mania.

00:03:54.000 –> 00:03:56.000
I doubt they’re going to let him drop it to Gunther.

00:03:56.000 –> 00:04:02.000
But those are the only real ones I am looking forward to.

00:04:02.000 –> 00:04:09.000
In my opinion, I think Drew McIntyre vs CM Punk has to be the main event.

00:04:09.000 –> 00:04:16.000
Definitely Cody Rose and Solo. I don’t know man. That’s not a main event for me.

00:04:16.000 –> 00:04:23.000
I think you have to go Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley, or Drew McIntyre and Punk for your main event.

00:04:23.000 –> 00:04:27.000
Bayley and Nia Jax, I really could care less about.

00:04:27.000 –> 00:04:33.000
I do like Gunther. I like to see Gunther go over. I’m not really a big fan of Damian Priest.

00:04:33.000 –> 00:04:40.000
I like to see Gunther go over. But we’ll have to see what happens tonight at Summer Slam.

00:04:40.000 –> 00:04:47.000
And of course last weekend, of course Slam-iversary, which was a really big event.

00:04:47.000 –> 00:04:53.000
Moose dropping the belt to of course Nick Namath, Dolph Ziggler.

00:04:53.000 –> 00:04:58.000
Little surprise to see Eddie Edwards lose the tag belts.

00:04:58.000 –> 00:05:03.000
Alicia Edwards retained. She’s the only one part of the system now with gold.

00:05:03.000 –> 00:05:08.000
But I think Sam-iversary was amazing.

00:05:08.000 –> 00:05:12.000
TNA has definitely done a complete 360.

00:05:12.000 –> 00:05:20.000
I really believe that. They were not riding this high a year ago this time.

00:05:20.000 –> 00:05:25.000
Really just, I’m so glad they’ve turned it around.

00:05:25.000 –> 00:05:35.000
I was very nervous that we were going to really see a tough time with Scott D’Amore leaving.

00:05:35.000 –> 00:05:42.000
And the new person taking over. But whoever’s doing the booking, they’ve put more money into the show.

00:05:42.000 –> 00:05:45.000
They’re doing cross-promotion with NXT now.

00:05:45.000 –> 00:05:52.000
They are doing so much stuff with NXT, Joe Henry.

00:05:52.000 –> 00:05:58.000
They are seriously, the new management is doing a great job.

00:05:58.000 –> 00:06:04.000
I really have to say I was a little worried. I thought for sure the company was going to tank.

00:06:04.000 –> 00:06:07.000
But they are definitely turning it around.

00:06:07.000 –> 00:06:10.000
And of course the countdown to Slam-iversary.

00:06:10.000 –> 00:06:12.000
Eric Young, Hammerstone was great.

00:06:12.000 –> 00:06:16.000
Like I said, Matt Hardy vs. JDC.

00:06:16.000 –> 00:06:19.000
They had so many great matches.

00:06:19.000 –> 00:06:23.000
Obviously we had NXT vs. TNA.

00:06:23.000 –> 00:06:28.000
The whole thing, the PPV was so well put together.

00:06:28.000 –> 00:06:30.000
I’m very shocked, very surprised.

00:06:30.000 –> 00:06:35.000
And it’s great to see TNA back on top riding high again.

00:06:35.000 –> 00:06:43.000
And of course let’s not forget about AEW having their version of WarGames, Blood and Guts.

00:06:43.000 –> 00:06:46.000
Which is free obviously on television, not even a PPV.

00:06:46.000 –> 00:06:53.000
I know they do that to get ratings, but I really think that could really be a PPV match.

00:06:53.000 –> 00:06:56.000
But oh my goodness, what an amazing match.

00:06:56.000 –> 00:07:02.000
It’s great to see Hardcore Wrestling, Darby Allin, Jeff Jarrett showing up.

00:07:02.000 –> 00:07:08.000
Having to cut the cage to get in. Very old school WarGames style stuff.

00:07:08.000 –> 00:07:14.000
Locking themselves in the cage, handcuffing the guy to the cage, beating him up, trying to get the surrender.

00:07:14.000 –> 00:07:20.000
It’s stuff that we’ve seen before, but we haven’t seen it in so long.

00:07:20.000 –> 00:07:22.000
Because a lot of companies don’t do that anymore.

00:07:22.000 –> 00:07:26.000
So I thought it was great. I really, really enjoyed it.

00:07:26.000 –> 00:07:29.000
Like I said, the whole thing was great.

00:07:29.000 –> 00:07:34.000
Like I said, tons of news to get to today. A lot to talk about.

00:07:34.000 –> 00:07:39.000
But some celebrity gossip this week.

00:07:39.000 –> 00:07:47.000
Not somebody we play here, but Cardi B apparently announces she’s having a baby this week.

00:07:47.000 –> 00:07:54.000
Ronda Rousey at Comic Con shows up, announces she’s having her second child this week.

00:07:54.000 –> 00:07:56.000
I believe that’s Cardi B’s third.

00:07:56.000 –> 00:08:05.000
Megan Fox played a pregnant girl in Machine Gun Kelly’s new music video.

00:08:05.000 –> 00:08:08.000
Rumors were swirling that she was pregnant with this kid.

00:08:08.000 –> 00:08:13.000
Apparently she was said right on her Twitter. She was just acting.

00:08:13.000 –> 00:08:19.000
So a lot of celebrity gossip news this week.

00:08:19.000 –> 00:08:30.000
Also, Christina Hall, the girl, the woman, that did Flip or Flop, announced she’s getting divorced for the third time.

00:08:30.000 –> 00:08:34.000
So, you know, a lot of celebrity gossip news.

00:08:34.000 –> 00:08:41.000
And I was kind of surprised, considering the Olympics were going on, that we would get so much celebrity gossip.

00:08:41.000 –> 00:08:54.000
But the big news that broke the internet Friday was Carrie Underwood announced that she is taking over America’s Idol from Katy Perry.

00:08:54.000 –> 00:08:57.000
So Carrie Underwood, of course, pretty cool.

00:08:57.000 –> 00:09:04.000
She won it a long time ago, and now she’s taking over it, replacing Katy Perry, who is exiting the show.

00:09:04.000 –> 00:09:07.000
That seems to be the general trend. They stay on four or five years.

00:09:07.000 –> 00:09:11.000
If you remember, Jennifer Lopez did the same thing. Steven Tyler did.

00:09:11.000 –> 00:09:14.000
They stay on for a couple of years, and then they head out.

00:09:14.000 –> 00:09:23.000
But speaking of Carrie Underwood, Carrie Underwood and Papa Roach teamed up for a new song called “Leave a Light On.”

00:09:23.000 –> 00:09:30.000
Do you have a collection of articles from the internet that you want to read, but don’t have time to dive into at the moment?

00:09:30.000 –> 00:09:39.000
ListenLater.net has a new way to handle that problem with podcasting. ListenLater.net turns articles into episodes of a podcast,

00:09:39.000 –> 00:09:44.000
so your reading list can be automatically transformed into a podcast.

00:09:44.000 –> 00:09:50.000
It all works via email, so you just share any article you want via a special Listen Later email address,

00:09:50.000 –> 00:09:55.000
and ListenLater.net will translate the whole thing into a spoken audio podcast.

00:09:55.000 –> 00:10:00.000
ListenLater uses some really high-quality AI voices to read your audio.

00:10:00.000 –> 00:10:05.000
They’re really excellent narrators, and you can choose from numerous voice options.

00:10:05.000 –> 00:10:12.000
You can also have ListenLater auto-translate articles in other languages into your chosen language.

00:10:12.000 –> 00:10:15.000
Go to ListenLater.net and sign up now. It’s free.

00:10:15.000 –> 00:10:24.000
Plus, Helix Rock radio listeners get 20% extra credits for their initial purchase if they reach out via the support form or the support email address.

00:10:24.000 –> 00:10:32.000
Again, that’s ListenLater.net, and sign up and get 20% extra credits by mentioning Helix Rock radio.

00:10:33.000 –> 00:10:39.000
Halo, the TV series, has been cancelled by Paramount Plus after two seasons.

00:10:39.000 –> 00:10:44.000
You guys heard me talk about it quite a bit, actually. Howard Stern even talks about it in his show.

00:10:44.000 –> 00:10:49.000
I think it’s a great show. I think the second season was much better than the first season.

00:10:49.000 –> 00:10:58.000
From what I’m reading, Steven Spielberg is taking over, and he is shopping around other places to see if he can get a third or fourth season out of it.

00:10:58.000 –> 00:11:04.000
They got a lot of time, a lot of money invested in storytelling, so let’s wait and see what happens with that.

00:11:04.000 –> 00:11:06.000
I’m hoping it comes back for another season.

00:11:06.000 –> 00:11:21.000
Speaking of Microsoft in video games, they have actually added Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 to Game Pass in anticipation for putting their new game, which is coming out in October, I believe, on Game Pass.

00:11:21.000 –> 00:11:29.000
If you do have Game Pass, you can go ahead and play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 for free right now on Game Pass.

00:11:29.000 –> 00:11:39.000
I’m hoping more games, more Call of Duty stuff, is going to come to Game Pass, but we will have to see what happens.

00:11:39.000 –> 00:11:50.000
Microsoft did announce earnings this week, and Xbox console sales dropped off by 42%, which is huge.

00:11:50.000 –> 00:11:57.000
I mean, Microsoft’s never going to get rid of Game Pass. They’re never going to get rid of Xbox.

00:11:57.000 –> 00:12:01.000
There were some rubers online, everybody saying, “Oh, Microsoft’s going to get rid of Xbox.”

00:12:01.000 –> 00:12:09.000
They’re not going to get rid of the Xbox brand. They may change it up a little bit, but Xbox is still a big business for them.

00:12:09.000 –> 00:12:17.000
They have Game Pass. They have people playing on their PCs. They have people playing it on console.

00:12:17.000 –> 00:12:23.000
It’s still a big business for them. Even if consoles have dropped, it’s still a big business for them.

00:12:23.000 –> 00:12:28.000
I’m sure around the holiday season, it’ll pick up. It’s a tough economy right now.

00:12:28.000 –> 00:12:33.000
People might be hanging on to their Xbox for an extra year or two.

00:12:33.000 –> 00:12:49.000
By the way, speaking of gaming, a Nigerian man, 24, breaks the Guinness World Record after completing 75 straight hours of playing a football game on his iPhone.

00:12:49.000 –> 00:12:59.000
He’s 24 years old. You know, I’ve got to be honest with you. When I was a kid, we used to play a lot of Final Fantasy.

00:12:59.000 –> 00:13:11.000
I could see that. I could seriously see staying up that long. My friends and I used to do 24 hours straight of Final Fantasy binging and stuff like that.

00:13:11.000 –> 00:13:17.000
It’s possible. It really is. Even back then with the original PlayStation and Final Fantasy VII.

00:13:17.000 –> 00:13:24.000
If you’re my age range, you know exactly what I’m talking about. That game was addictive.

00:13:24.000 –> 00:13:31.000
Nintendo earnings dropped quite a bit. Not a real…Nintendo even said they weren’t concerned about it.

00:13:31.000 –> 00:13:35.000
People are waiting for the new Switch to come out, so they’re not buying the current Switch.

00:13:35.000 –> 00:13:41.000
Honestly, fairly common. Not really something they are hugely worried about.

00:13:41.000 –> 00:13:48.000
Microsoft, as you know, by the way, going back to them real quick, one article I had here I forgot to mention.

00:13:48.000 –> 00:13:55.000
They apparently, as you know, have an agreement with Riot Games for Game Pass.

00:13:55.000 –> 00:14:01.000
If you are a big fan of Riot Games, they have a free-to-play shooter.

00:14:01.000 –> 00:14:09.000
Valorant launches on Xbox Series XS. And PlayStation 5 is going to have it as well.

00:14:09.000 –> 00:14:14.000
But if you have Xbox Game Pass, it’s a free-to-play shooter.

00:14:14.000 –> 00:14:22.000
So go ahead and check that out. I actually do like Valorant myself. I’m not good at it, but I do like it.

00:14:22.000 –> 00:14:28.000
So go ahead and check that out if you are a fan. Like I said, if you have Xbox Game Pass, it’s free.

00:14:28.000 –> 00:14:34.000
And apparently it’s coming to PS5 as well. So go ahead and check that out.

00:14:34.000 –> 00:14:39.000
Also, too, by the way, one other thing I would like to point out, which I think is very relevant to gaming.

00:14:39.000 –> 00:14:56.000
Microsoft has said that if you have Xbox Game Pass, you will be able this month to get the demo, the beta, of the new Call of Duty.

00:14:56.000 –> 00:15:01.000
So if you are a fan, you want early access, you’re going to have to get Game Pass.

00:15:01.000 –> 00:15:08.000
But, I mean, if you’re a huge fan of the franchise, I would think about picking it up.

00:15:08.000 –> 00:15:15.000
I mean, if you get Game Pass for $20, you’re going to get it early, you’re going to get the game beta, you’re going to get a lot of that.

00:15:15.000 –> 00:15:21.000
Microsoft’s really trying to make the Game Pass very attractive so that people buy it.

00:15:21.000 –> 00:15:28.000
So if you are in the market, love that franchise, pick it up. It’d be pretty fun. I think it’s going to be cool.

00:15:28.000 –> 00:15:35.000
I’ve already started playing the one they just added to Game Pass. I’m hoping they’re going to add Ghost on there.

00:15:35.000 –> 00:15:43.000
I like Call of Duty Ghost. I still play that one. I still like, there’s just so, I mean, it’s such a big franchise.

00:15:43.000 –> 00:15:47.000
If you like first person shooters, definitely jump on there.

00:15:47.000 –> 00:15:56.000
I’m also a big PUBG fan. We’ll be playing that over the weekend. Those of you that watch me stream play video games, we’ll be probably doing that.

00:15:56.000 –> 00:16:01.000
Halo, a bunch of stuff over the weekend. Counter Strike. I play a lot of first person shooters.

00:16:01.000 –> 00:16:09.000
So, interesting. I got a message here from somebody who’s listening to the show. I don’t give out the name, sorry about that.

00:16:09.000 –> 00:16:17.000
She said, Hugh Jackman made a comment the other day saying that he would love to do a Wolverine vs. Hulk.

00:16:17.000 –> 00:16:30.000
I actually think that would be actually very cool. We kind of saw a Hulk vs. Iron Man, which is something we’ve seen a lot in the comic books with one of the Avengers movies, Age of Ultron.

00:16:30.000 –> 00:16:41.000
But I would like to see some kind of Hulk/Wolverine thing. That would be a lot of fun. We know we’re going to see the Red Hulk in the new Captain America movie.

00:16:41.000 –> 00:16:50.000
So, yeah, I actually want to see that too. Now we got, according to Feige, there’s no plans to replace Hugh Jackman at this time.

00:16:50.000 –> 00:17:01.000
They’re not looking to recast him. So, there’s a good possibility he’s going to be in the Avengers movie. He could do some other stuff that we may actually see that.

00:17:01.000 –> 00:17:09.000
So, we will have to wait and see. But unfortunately we’re going to be waiting a couple of years because it’s not looking like it’s going to be real, real soon.

00:17:09.000 –> 00:17:25.000
But a couple of other things that somebody else did send me. Talking about just different things that were going on. Somebody had brought up about the Olympics, about Snoop Dogg carrying the torch.

00:17:25.000 –> 00:17:39.000
He was actually on the YouTube channel, that snack channel, trying different snacks and promoting his, he has something called Snoop Dogg wrap snacks. He also has a drink, his own beverage line now called Gin and Juice.

00:17:39.000 –> 00:17:55.000
Everything, you know, based on this movie. That guy is incredibly marketable, knows how to sell himself. You know, look at the, if you would have seen, if you grew up in around, in the, in the early nineties, like I did late eighties, early nineties,

00:17:55.000 –> 00:18:12.000
you would have never, the world has changed. His persona has changed. If I would have told you in, in the nineties that that guy would be carrying the torch in the Olympics in 2024, you would have been like, yeah, right.

00:18:12.000 –> 00:18:24.000
The world’s perception of has hit of him has changed. The people that like him now are the adults. We were the kids back then. The whole world. It’s just amazing to me how the world just changes like that.

00:18:24.000 –> 00:18:36.000
Uh, one thing I will say is the Olympics in four years are going to be, I believe in LA, uh, the saying Tom cruise is going to show up, uh, here and do something, uh, at the end of the Olympics, some kind of a big.

00:18:36.000 –> 00:18:53.000
Stunt to, uh, promote the Olympics coming to LA in four years. We’ll see what happens in Brandon at rock radio, that live. If you have song requests, uh, if you have things you want to send me, if well, really anything, if you want to have any comments,

00:18:53.000 –> 00:19:08.000
uh, send it. If we get tons of email, I do try to read it all, uh, before the show. Uh, and I do use some of the stuff in the show as well. Uh, by the way, speaking of that, somebody had sent me, uh, something, uh, about twister.

00:19:08.000 –> 00:19:29.000
Uh, that new twister movie apparently was a blockbuster hit, uh, kind of what they call a sleeper hit. Uh, they didn’t expect it to do that good, but apparently it did very, very well. Uh, taking an 80.5 million, uh, opening weekend, uh, which is kind of interesting.

00:19:29.000 –> 00:19:45.000
Um, you know, no, I mean, it’s not a sequel. It’s a reboot. I don’t know. I mean, I think twister was such a huge movie when we were younger because it was the first time CGI had been used in movies or that was when that trend was starting.

00:19:45.000 –> 00:20:00.000
Anyway, it wasn’t the first movie, but it was that trend. Uh, Helen hunt was just coming off of a big sitcom. Uh, you know, everything about the movie was just timing. Uh, but I guess, man, you know, people love these end of the world movies.

00:20:00.000 –> 00:20:24.000
Um, you know, we have, well, let’s, let’s, let’s talk about some of the end of the world movies from the 90s. They weren’t all good. Um, but, uh, for instance, water world, I love that movie. One of Kevin, my favorite movies with Kevin Costner that the postman, uh, a lot of those 90s, apocalypse movies weren’t great.

00:20:24.000 –> 00:20:36.000
Now, this wasn’t an apocalypse movie, but it was about a outbreak of tornadoes that was destroying the place. And they were trying to get, you know, those sensors on board so that they can learn how it worked.

00:20:36.000 –> 00:20:52.000
Um, edge of tomorrow, uh, was it, uh, the day after tomorrow or something like that was one about snow storm that was in 2003. That did really well. You know, it was, it’s those kinds of movies about natural disasters or end of the world seemed to do pretty good.

00:20:52.000 –> 00:21:08.000
Now, not all of them, but some of them do, uh, water world did not do well. Postman did really well. I mean, there were a lot of them, especially in, in the nineties. Uh, Kevin Costner was really on a kick for a while making those movies in the nineties.

00:21:08.000 –> 00:21:20.000
Uh, there was a bunch of other ones as well, but, uh, those are the big ones. I remember twister was a huge hit for its time. I mean, the soundtrack was amazing for that. You had Van Halen on it.

00:21:20.000 –> 00:21:31.000
Uh, you know, it was like I said, it was just, the movie was great. I honestly didn’t expect for it to break as big as it did, but it did really, really well. So I’m hoping maybe we’ll get a sequel. I’m going to have to go see it.

00:21:31.000 –> 00:21:45.000
Uh, my wife actually said that, uh, they actually have a 4d version at some, at the 4d, uh, movie theaters. That’s one of the things that many people are raving about. It’s amazing in 4d.

00:21:45.000 –> 00:22:01.000
So if you have a 4d movie theater, uh, go check it out. I do want to say that one show that is very well put together, uh, is those guys over on Grawlix. They do, uh, Friday nights, uh, with us.

00:22:01.000 –> 00:22:10.000
I’m sorry, Thursday nights with us. And, uh, they are really great. Uh, those of you that were listening on the app, uh, were treated to a little inside baseball.

00:22:10.000 –> 00:22:24.000
Uh, they had a bunch of technical problems, uh, yesterday, not that it affected our station, uh, but it affected the other, uh, place, YouTube and other places where they, um, broadcast.

00:22:24.000 –> 00:22:32.000
So, uh, if you’re listening on our channel, you had no problems. You got a little bit, uh, extra that didn’t make it out to the rest of the people.

00:22:32.000 –> 00:22:46.000
So, uh, thank those. I want to thank those guys so much. They do a wonderful show. Really? I really mean this. If you’re into any of that kind of comic book, uh, nerd stuff, geek stuff, any of that stuff, uh, listen to this show.

00:22:46.000 –> 00:22:58.000
I listen every Thursday. They do a wonderful show. It’s at eight o’clock at night. Uh, they do a wonderful, just a wonderful job. And I can’t, uh, not, I just, I can’t happy to have them on the show.

00:22:58.000 –> 00:23:17.000
They are basically, uh, like comic book, men, uh, all that kind of stuff, uh, that I personally, uh, really enjoy. Uh, and if, by the way, if you don’t get a chance to watch them, uh, or listen to them live, uh, go ahead on our website, rock radio.live.

00:23:17.000 –> 00:23:29.000
And click on on demand shows and you will see Grawlix and you can go ahead and watch the YouTube version with video and all that. Uh, but you won’t get the extra. You only get the extra here.

00:23:29.000 –> 00:23:44.000
Uh, thanks to the technical difficulties they had the other night, but those guys are great. Uh, I love Randy, Jesse. They’re great. And let me tell you, Randy is the unsung hero of this station. He does so much stuff. He is the era parent to me.

00:23:44.000 –> 00:23:56.000
Um, if I am not around, if I need him to do something, uh, he is, uh, invaluable to the station and I cannot thank him enough for everything he does for Helix Rock Radio.

00:23:56.000 –> 00:24:06.000
Uh, really, and I really mean that, and I wanted to say it publicly because Randy is the unsung hero of this radio station. Uh, I really truly mean that.

00:24:06.000 –> 00:24:20.000
Uh, also too, we also have Pro Wrestling Wire, uh, which is on on Wednesdays, 9 PM to 11. They are a new show, uh, that is on. Uh, if you like the wrestling talk, I don’t do a whole show on wrestling.

00:24:20.000 –> 00:24:31.000
He actually has pro wrestling interviews, uh, all that kind of stuff. Um, like I said, there’s 9 to 11 PM Wednesday night. He just joined it. Uh, that’s the Pro Wrestling Wire.

00:24:31.000 –> 00:24:39.000
Uh, his whole show for two hours is wrestling. Uh, he doesn’t do much music. It’s mostly a talk show, but it’s very, very good.

00:24:39.000 –> 00:24:50.000
Also too, remember tonight and Sunday night, uh, Collie and Marcus do the, uh, paranormal talk show, uh, late at night, 9 PM to 12 PM.

00:24:50.000 –> 00:24:58.000
Uh, I’m so glad we’re getting a lot of talk shows on here. Uh, we have a lot of great music shows. Uh, really everybody does a great job with their shows.

00:24:58.000 –> 00:25:07.000
Uh, probably even better than I do, but, um, I’m so glad we’re getting some talk shows on here as well. Uh, cause I really want to mix the content up, uh, a little bit on the station.

00:25:07.000 –> 00:25:20.000
So, um, really, really happy about that. Uh, and again, by the way, I just want to say one more time, uh, to Randy, uh, over at Grawlix and he does as well, uh, the abyss on Friday night.

00:25:20.000 –> 00:25:31.000
Uh, our metal show, which gets replayed Monday afternoons. Um, he does so much content for the station and really does a lot of behind the scenes stuff. Uh, I cannot thank him enough.

00:25:31.000 –> 00:25:44.000
A couple things I wanted to talk about, uh, that I haven’t gotten to yet in the show. Uh, Amazon has apparently lost over $25 billion on its, uh, bullets.

00:25:44.000 –> 00:25:54.000
Well, it generally it’s, it’s ecosystem, uh, as far they, as far as Alexa’s, uh, the ring, Euro, uh, all their stuff.

00:25:54.000 –> 00:26:08.000
Um, not the Kindle surprisingly enough, but, um, they apparently have lost billions and billions of dollars on all, uh, the fire tablets, uh, their glasses, everything that they pretty much are doing.

00:26:08.000 –> 00:26:21.000
Uh, they have lost a ton of money on it. Um, they said ever since they launched the voice assistant, uh, in 2017, it has yet to ever be profitable and has in fact cost them about 25 billion.

00:26:21.000 –> 00:26:35.000
Uh, so as much as we all like our Amazon Alexa’s, uh, apparently Amazon’s not making money on it. Um, no word on what they’re going to do yet. I doubt they would ever ax it, but, um, like I said, they, they’re apparently not making money on it.

00:26:35.000 –> 00:26:44.000
Uh, I love my Kindle. I do a lot of reading. Actually. I do read quite a bit. I love the Kindle. Uh, by the way, folks, somebody had sent this to me, uh, the other day.

00:26:44.000 –> 00:26:56.000
Um, and I, it was just a couple of weeks ago, actually. I feel bad. I didn’t use it on the show, but I had no reason to talk about it. But, um, somebody has said to me, they were at Barnes and Nobles the other day and Barnes and Noble still sells the Nook.

00:26:56.000 –> 00:27:12.000
Um, I don’t know anybody with a Nook. If you know anybody with a Nook, um, Barnes and Noble still sells their Nook. Uh, yeah, Bambooks, Barnes and Nobles. Um, there’s a Borders. Actually, I think Borders is actually still around, but, um, there’s apparently still a market out there for that.

00:27:12.000 –> 00:27:28.000
Uh, there are other, uh, e-readers. Uh, Quibi is one. They’re pretty big. They’re, I mean, Amazon is like the Microsoft or the Apple of, of the ebook reader. Um, and if you have a Kindle, you actually get the books a lot cheaper.

00:27:28.000 –> 00:27:43.000
Um, a lot of people don’t know that, but apparently, uh, Barnes and Noble still got their, uh, their Nook business. Uh, Walmart actually has Quibi, which is their, their business, which is, I believe is coming up. I, I see more people with Quibis than Nooks. I couldn’t believe that they still sold it. I was shocked.

00:27:43.000 –> 00:28:06.000
Um, so I thought that was pretty funny. Um, also too, something else I wanted to bring up that, uh, one of our listeners had pointed out. Uh, if you are somebody who likes Disney Plus, Hulu, and Max, uh, there is actually now a partnership between these companies, Disney and Warner Brothers, uh, that they are going to have a Disney Plus, Hulu, and HBO Max bundle.

00:28:06.000 –> 00:28:22.000
Now you can get it with the ads. Uh, you can get it, uh, with that, with limited ads or no ads. Um, oh, I’m sorry. Actually, they did away with the limited ads. Uh, there actually is no ads, uh, and with ads now. So they were supposed to have one for limited ads, but I guess not.

00:28:22.000 –> 00:28:43.000
Uh, but like I said, if you are a fan, they do have a joint bundle. Um, I know myself, I’d rather the Disney Plus, Hulu, and the Max, uh, rather than Disney Plus, Hulu, and ESPN Plus. I’m not a big sports guy. You know, I know UFCs on ESPN Plus and Formula Ones on ESPN Plus.

00:28:43.000 –> 00:28:54.000
Um, but I’m not a big sports guy. I think I would rather, uh, HBO Max, um, over, over ESPN hands down.

00:28:54.000 –> 00:29:18.000
A couple of things I wanted to get to on the news. Uh, Universal apparently has beat out Sony, Warner Brothers, Fox, Disney, and Netflix in securing the rights for a biopic. Uh, they will be paying eight figures, uh, to produce the Britney Spears biopic.

00:29:18.000 –> 00:29:39.000
Uh, page six is reporting that Brad Pitt and Reese Witherspoon, uh, are among the A-listers who have been gunning to, uh, produce this thing. Uh, comes off, of course, uh, apparently it’s, it’s apparently an ad-daptation of, uh, Britney Spears’ new book, which is set to hit.

00:29:39.000 –> 00:29:54.000
Um, I’m sorry, her new book that hit in October of 2023, this article is worded very poorly, uh, and has since sold 2.5 million copies. So apparently Britney Spears is, uh, getting a biopic.

00:29:54.000 –> 00:30:11.000
She has definitely, uh, she’s our generation, Cyndi Lauper, let’s put it that way. Uh, definitely have been in the news for not a lot of good stuff, uh, some good stuff at times, sometimes not.

00:30:11.000 –> 00:30:26.000
Uh, so she’s getting a biopic, uh, that was, uh, something in the news. Um, also as well interesting in the news, uh, apparently, this is crazy that this actually made the mainstream, uh, news.

00:30:26.000 –> 00:30:44.000
Uh, Google has apparently signed an exclusive deal with Reddit. The only way now you can search Reddit, uh, will either be on Reddit’s site or through Google. So if you use any other search engine besides Google, you cannot search Reddit.

00:30:44.000 –> 00:30:54.000
Uh, I know a lot of you guys like Reddit, uh, that listen, you guys send me a bunch of stuff from there all the time, so if you want to search Reddit, you’re gonna have to use Google.

00:30:54.000 –> 00:31:08.000
Uh, couple more things I just want to talk about, uh, entertainment news, actually, uh, Inside Out, I took my kids to see that the other day, I surpass in Frozen 2 as the highest grossing animated movie in history. Shocked.

00:31:08.000 –> 00:31:18.000
Uh, kind of didn’t expect that. Uh, Frozen 3 comes out, I’m sure my kids are gonna see it, and Moana, I know my kids are looking forward to that too, the live action one and Moana 2.

00:31:18.000 –> 00:31:36.000
Uh, something else in entertainment news, uh, Tucker Carlson has taken the spot for the, uh, number one listened podcast, uh, I’ve passed Joe Rogan, which is shocking to me. I actually like Rogan, I’m not, I don’t listen to him a lot, but I do.

00:31:36.000 –> 00:31:49.000
Um, uh, also too, uh, Overcast has passed Pocketcast as the number one podcasting app, uh, Pocketcast is now number two, but, uh, I thought that was interesting.

00:31:49.000 –> 00:32:08.000
But, uh, one of the things that was interesting to me, uh, over the weekend is Sirius XM, uh, went ahead and, uh, launched their, uh, premium podcast subscription. Sirius XM now has a premium podcast subscription, uh, and it’s all done via Apple Podcast.

00:32:08.000 –> 00:32:23.000
Uh, so I thought that was actually very, very cool. Uh, Sirius XM launching a premium podcast. They see the writing on the walls that the industry is changing and that, you know, you gotta be in the podcast game as well.

00:32:23.000 –> 00:32:33.000
Uh, I know ourselves, even this show and a lot of our other shows are, uh, actually podcasts, uh, what, you know, we’ve streamed them live, uh, and then they’re available in podcast form without the music.

00:32:33.000 –> 00:32:45.000
The big key is the music. Uh, Sirius XM is trying to get around this problem as well, uh, with not having the music because you have to pay for music royalty rights if it’s in the podcast.

00:32:45.000 –> 00:33:01.000
But if you’re streaming it on a station like ours that pays for a music license, uh, it’s a little bit different. It’s a little weird, but Sirius launched a podcast subscription service now on Apple Podcasts, uh, $5.99 a month or $4.99 a year.

00:33:01.000 –> 00:33:17.000
Uh, ours are all free. Just so you know that if you’re interested, go ahead. Um, I am, by the way, I apologize for the background noise today, folks. We are, uh, have some stuff going on and it is absolutely, uh, the construction is, uh, driving my dogs crazy.

00:33:17.000 –> 00:33:28.000
So I do apologize about that. All right, folks, I am heading out. Uh, I want to say what I say every week, and I mean this wholeheartedly. Thank you very much for waking up with me on the weekends.

00:33:28.000 –> 00:33:40.000
I really do appreciate it. I enjoy the show. We do it every Saturday and Sunday. Uh, I want to thank you very much. Like I said, for waking up with me, thank you very much for listening.

00:33:40.000 –> 00:33:49.000
Uh, you can listen to our station 24/7 on the Helix Rock Radio app. It’s a free app on iPhone and Android.

00:33:49.000 –> 00:34:01.000
Uh, you can also listen free on our website, rockradio.live, as well as all smart speakers, uh, smart televisions, uh, and everywhere where pretty much audio is available.

00:34:01.000 –> 00:34:13.000
Um, we have done a great job of getting our app and our station out to everywhere possible, uh, to make it easy for you to listen anywhere, uh, in the world.

00:34:13.000 –> 00:34:19.000
So thank you very much for waking up with me, folks, and I will see you tomorrow.
