Alright, welcome to the Saturday Ship Show.
00:20-00:27
I am your host, Brandon, and I will be hanging out with you for the next couple of hours.
00:27-00:34
We will be having a good time jamming, listening to a bunch of new hits, stuff like that.
00:34-00:36
Talking about some news.
00:36-00:39
Royal Rumble is tonight.
00:39-00:42
Alright, that was Steppenwolf.
00:42-00:44
They are one of…
00:44-00:46
They’ve got a couple of good songs.
00:46-00:48
They were pretty big in the 70s.
00:48-00:49
Really enjoying them.
00:49-00:51
One of my favorite bands.
00:51-00:56
Again, it is Brandon on your Saturday Ship Show.
00:56-01:02
We have the request line open, so go ahead and send in a message.
01:02-01:04
We will…
01:04-01:07
Brandon at rockradio.live.
01:07-01:13
Again, it is Brandon at rockradio.live.
01:13-01:16
And we will get that request on the air.
01:16-01:23
Like I said, this weekend, well, today, is the Royal Rumble.
01:23-01:25
I kind of think John Cena is going for the win.
01:25-01:27
I think they are going to let him win it.
01:27-01:29
I don’t want him to.
01:29-01:31
I was hoping for Punk to win it.
01:31-01:33
He has been saying he wants to win it for a while.
01:33-01:35
But I don’t know. I think it is going to be Cena.
01:35-01:37
I am pretty sure.
01:37-01:39
So we will see.
01:39-01:42
Looking forward to the Cody Rose ladder match with KO.
01:42-01:45
Kevin Owens, that actually should be pretty good.
01:45-01:47
I am actually looking forward to that myself as well.
01:47-01:49
That should be a good match.
01:49-01:52
Last weekend, obviously no shit show.
01:52-01:54
I actually had Strep Throat.
01:54-01:58
And if you remember, two weeks before that, I had Laryngitis.
01:58-02:06
So it is like the forces of sickness are trying to keep me from doing this show.
02:06-02:08
But I am feeling pretty good this week.
02:08-02:09
Pretty excited.
02:09-02:12
I watched Saturday Night Main Event last week.
02:12-02:15
I thought it was actually very, very good.
02:15-02:22
I really actually surprisingly enjoyed the Gunther match with Jey Uso.
02:22-02:24
I am not a big fan of Uso.
02:24-02:29
But I did really enjoy his match with Gunther.
02:29-02:31
I really enjoyed a Seamus match.
02:31-02:36
That guy just, every match he does is just a banger man.
02:36-02:38
It is just a great match.
02:38-02:42
Rhea obviously didn’t disappoint.
02:42-02:44
Saturday Night Main Event was pretty good.
02:44-02:46
I wouldn’t mind if WWE does more of those.
02:46-02:49
There is not a lot of good stuff on Saturday Night.
02:49-02:51
I actually really don’t mind that.
02:51-02:53
So I would like to see more.
02:53-02:58
If WWE, if you are listening, I don’t mind more Saturday Night Main Events.
02:58-03:03
I know Stephanie McMahon, who is not, I mean, obviously Triple H runs the business.
03:03-03:10
But Triple H obviously, getting, being the first person to be announced for the Hall of Fame coming up.
03:10-03:13
I am actually looking forward to that.
03:13-03:17
I am curious if he is going to be the big inductee this year.
03:17-03:19
I am curious who else they are going to do.
03:19-03:25
So it is going to be a very interesting WrestleMania season.
03:25-03:27
So we will look forward to that.
03:27-03:32
I am also looking forward to not only who they are going to induct in the Hall of Fame.
03:32-03:38
But I am also interested in what they are going to do going into Mania.
03:38-03:42
I mean, Cody has been the champion for almost a year now.
03:42-03:45
So are they going to make him drop it?
03:45-03:46
I don’t know.
03:46-03:47
We will have to wait and see.
03:47-03:53
It definitely is a great time to be a wrestling fan right now.
03:53-04:01
Kicking it off with a new one by Shine Down called 365, followed by Kill Switch Engage here on…
04:01-04:06
Alright, that was Nickelback, skinny little missy.
04:06-04:08
That’s a great song.
04:08-04:13
So tonight, somebody had mentioned the Royal Rumble.
04:13-04:16
Obviously, who do I think is going to win the women’s Royal Rumble?
04:16-04:18
Somebody had tweeted me that.
04:18-04:21
Oh, man, I don’t know.
04:21-04:25
I would like to see Becky Lynch come back personally.
04:25-04:28
But I don’t think that’s going to happen.
04:28-04:32
That’s actually a good one.
04:32-04:35
Maybe Charlotte Flair.
04:35-04:36
I don’t know.
04:36-04:38
I really don’t have a good…
04:38-04:40
I mean, maybe Liv Morgan.
04:40-04:41
I don’t know.
04:41-04:45
I don’t really have a good gauge on that yet.
04:45-04:46
I’m sure we’ll…
04:46-04:48
I’m trying to think who…
04:48-04:53
There’s a lot in the men’s Royal Rumble, but I don’t know who they’re really going to push in the women’s division.
04:53-04:58
I’d be really interested to see what they’re going to do.
04:58-05:01
Like I said, maybe…
05:01-05:02
Maybe…
05:02-05:03
I don’t know.
05:03-05:05
Charlotte doesn’t really need it.
05:05-05:09
Like I said, Liv Morgan just dropped the belt.
05:09-05:11
So I don’t know.
05:11-05:15
Women’s one is going to be interesting because I really have no idea who’s going to win it.
05:15-05:16
We’ll have to wait and see.
05:16-05:20
I love to see Becky come back at the Royal Rumble, but I doubt it.
05:20-05:21
I’m trying.
05:21-05:22
I think I said that one’s a tough one.
05:22-05:26
We’ll have to wait and see tonight and see what’s going to happen.
05:26-05:28
Kicking it, we have a request.
05:28-05:30
I’m going to play it here in a second.
05:30-05:32
But we do have something new.
05:32-05:35
I was just reminded because I gave out my email.
05:35-05:39
But we do have a better way for you to request songs.
05:39-05:44
Text 570-390-7222.
05:44-05:50
Again, text 570-390-7222.
05:50-05:52
That is the request number.
05:52-05:56
Text your songs request to it and we will get them while we’re on the air.
05:56-06:00
Again, 570-390-7222.
06:00-06:02
That’s the request line.
06:02-06:04
Go ahead and send a text to that message.
06:04-06:06
Request a song and we’ll play it.
06:06-06:10
Kicking it off now at Mercy featuring Lizzie Hale.
06:10-06:11
All right.
06:11-06:16
That was Black Cadillac by Shine Down.
06:16-06:21
A request from those of you that are requesting songs.
06:21-06:27
Again, text 570-390-7222.
06:27-06:31
And let us know which one here we’ll play.
06:31-06:35
So my fellow Pennsylvanians,
06:35-06:39
we have, I wasn’t on last week or the week before because I’ve been sick,
06:39-06:44
but we have the Eagles going to the Super Bowl,
06:44-06:47
not this Sunday, the Sunday after.
06:47-06:51
Philadelphia Eagles against the Chiefs.
06:51-06:56
A lot of people in Pennsylvania are really thrilled about that.
06:56-06:58
I’m not a sports guy,
06:58-07:04
but Super Bowl will be in Vegas this year.
07:04-07:08
Oh, actually, is it, is it, is it saying the 11th,
07:08-07:15
but that wouldn’t be right because that would be Tuesday.
07:15-07:17
No, it’s on the 9th.
07:17-07:21
But like I said, it’s in Vegas and then WrestleMania is in Vegas this year too.
07:21-07:26
So a lot of events coming to Las Vegas.
07:26-07:28
I got another one coming up for you now.
07:28-07:30
All that remains, a new one by them,
07:30-07:35
followed by bring me the horizon’s new hit, Wonderwall.
07:35-07:37
All right.
07:37-07:42
And during while the music was playing, I was just corrected.
07:42-07:47
Apparently the Super Bowl is in New Orleans on the 9th.
07:47-07:51
Last year it was in Vegas.
07:51-07:53
So I appreciate that.
07:53-07:57
All the listeners correcting me and I appreciate you guys listening.
07:57-08:02
So 25 years ago Creed’s What If song came out.
08:02-08:07
It was the theme song for Scream that was requested by Nicole,
08:07-08:14
followed by slash new hit Tombstone here on Helix Rock Radio.
08:14-08:19
Kitty, one of my wife’s favorite bands.
08:19-08:24
So there was a article that was released the other day.
08:24-08:28
I guess Spotify is very upset about it.
08:28-08:36
Apparently this is per thousand plays of a song on the streaming service.
08:36-08:47
Apparently Spotify only gives $3 to an artist for every thousand plays of their stream.
08:47-08:52
So apparently Spotify, a very upset about that coming out.
08:52-09:00
YouTube gives about $4 and 80 cents for $1.50 somewhere in there.
09:00-09:08
Apple is at about six and Amazon music surprisingly is the highest at eight,
09:08-09:13
like eight, $89 per thousand streams.
09:13-09:20
One of the things that Amazon has an advantage of though is Amazon works.
09:20-09:25
The price of Amazon music and all that into the prime.
09:25-09:33
So a lot of people pay for towards Amazon music that probably don’t use it.
09:33-09:37
So probably why Amazon’s able to pay more.
09:37-09:44
I know for years Spotify has always said that they, you know,
09:44-09:50
it’s a little bit different with them because they’ve got a paid membership
09:50-10:00
and a not paid membership, which is they always say the paid members are, excuse me,
10:00-10:06
the ones that really keep it going because a paid member, you know,
10:06-10:12
is equal to like three, four, five not paid users.
10:12-10:17
Apple able to do it because Apple doesn’t even offer a free tier.
10:17-10:23
YouTube has YouTube premium, which obviously pays, you know, is a paid subscription.
10:23-10:28
One of the things somebody who’s who we were talking about this at the station point now,
10:28-10:30
you don’t see Deezer on here.
10:30-10:33
You don’t see Tidal on here.
10:33-10:38
So there’s a bunch of services that they didn’t even look into.
10:38-10:46
But I thought that was interesting seeing how much artists are getting paid on here.
10:46-10:49
Let’s see.
10:49-10:59
Apparently $500 million was paid to artists this year through all music streaming services.
10:59-11:01
So it’s an interesting thing.
11:01-11:12
They’re saying that the majority of money being made by music artists now is in live, live ticket sales and merchandise.
11:12-11:19
So streaming, you know, years ago, you’d get a record deal and sell your CDs to make money.
11:19-11:22
That is not the case anymore.
11:22-11:27
Mark Tramani, who did an interview a bunch of years ago said when he first started,
11:27-11:37
you toured. It didn’t matter if you made money, you toured just to sell your albums because that was where the money was made.
11:37-11:41
Nowadays, he said the business is completely different.
11:41-11:49
And I think it opens up to, you know, being able to have these streaming services has opened it up.
11:49-11:55
I think years ago, if you didn’t have a record label, you didn’t get discovered.
11:55-12:07
Now with the Internet, somebody, you know, you know, with YouTube and Spotify and all that can get discovered and sometimes don’t even have a record label.
12:07-12:11
And they have a big following like Mark, like say Mark Tramani.
12:11-12:14
His last two albums weren’t even with a label.
12:14-12:17
He just privately put them out and it did really well.
12:17-12:20
Same thing goes for Amanda Palmer.
12:20-12:27
So it’s definitely a different business now than it was years ago.
12:27-12:39
But, you know, we try to make sure that, you know, we pay for our license every year so that we, you know, when we play music, you know, people get their royalties.
12:39-12:45
But you look at how much we pay for a license and you divide that how many songs you play.
12:45-12:49
You know, it’s not what it used to be.
12:49-12:55
Like I said, artists need to make money on the life, the live part of it and stuff like that.
12:55-13:04
And there are platforms now where you have bands that just do live, even if it’s not in person, over streaming and stuff.
13:04-13:05
It’s pretty interesting.
13:05-13:09
This COVID changed the industry a lot too.
13:09-13:15
Chevelle, send the pain below on Helix Rock Radio.
13:15-13:20
What a name of a band. That would be a great name, like great hacker named Dead Code.
13:20-13:26
Somebody had replied back to something I was talking about earlier with the world rumble with the women’s royal rumble.
13:26-13:31
Somebody had said, what about Ron DeRousey making a comeback?
13:31-13:33
I don’t think that’s going to happen.
13:33-13:36
She just had a baby like two or three weeks ago.
13:36-13:38
So I doubt that’s happening.
13:38-13:42
She’s being a new mom and good for her, man.
13:42-13:47
But yeah, I don’t think that’s going to happen at the Royal Rumble.
13:47-13:51
But you never WEE and never say never, right?
13:51-13:55
Kicking it off with a new one by Shaymunds Harvest, Rock and Roll Queen.
13:55-13:59
All right, Shaymunds Harvest, one of my favorite bands.
13:59-14:01
They have a lot of good songs.
14:01-14:11
Go ahead and look them up. Throw a good couple things to folks requested have come in while we’re on the air.
14:11-14:13
Couple of old school ones here.
14:13-14:19
We’re going to kick it off next with Queen and Danger Zone.
14:19-14:22
You guys remember that and Bad to the Bone as well.
14:22-14:27
Couple of requests coming in and the pretty darn good requests.
14:27-14:30
Let me tell you, kick it off with my favorite song by Queen.
14:30-14:37

15:40-15:47
Bad to the bone. The first time I ever heard that song was when I was a kid.
15:47-15:52
It was on Alvin and the Chipmunks. That’s how long ago that song is.
15:52-15:58
It’s just, you know, survived the test of time, man. It’s been around forever.
15:58-16:07
Just like Old Time Rock and Roll. I mean, that’s one that you can play anytime and everybody likes it. It’s just one of those songs.
16:07-16:17
So a couple other things I wanted to talk about. Has anybody watched Tim Allen’s new sitcom?
16:17-16:31
It’s actually very good. I just can’t believe it’s only been on like four weeks and it’s already ABC’s number one sitcom.
16:31-16:40
It’s pretty crazy. He’s had a major success with that stuff. Home improvement, Last Man Standing.
16:40-16:46
The guy just he’s great with sitcoms. That just seems to be his his thing.
16:46-16:50
Name of the show, by the way, is Shifting Gears.
16:50-16:58
It’s also, I forget her name off top of my head, but it’s with a bunch of really good actors.
16:58-17:05
I would really suggest it. It’s really funny. It’s only a half hour and it’s very, very good.
17:05-17:14
So two over the last couple of weeks while I’ve been sick, watching some documentaries on Netflix.
17:14-17:20
Jerry Springer’s documentary. It’s very good. Go ahead and watch that.
17:20-17:26
Unbelievable stuff that went on behind the scenes with that show to make it as crazy as it was.
17:26-17:37
The guy that actually was the executive producer used to create headlines for a newspaper and then he got the job with the Springer show and all.
17:37-17:41
So it’s pretty good. Go ahead and watch that. It is definitely a good watch.
17:41-17:47
The other thing my wife and I started watching this weekend. We haven’t finished it yet.
17:47-17:58
The documentary on OJ. The reason why I want to watch it growing up in that era. I was a young kid.
17:58-18:05
I didn’t know what was going on, but I wasn’t an adult yet. So I didn’t really understand it as well as I should.
18:05-18:11
I think it was in like second or third grade when all, maybe fourth grade when all that stuff was going on.
18:11-18:17
But I do remember it. So but not being adults, good to go back.
18:17-18:26
Even the Casey Anthony’s documentary on Netflix. I watched that the other day and I mean that was what 2001, 2002.
18:26-18:29
I was I was in high school when all that was going on.
18:29-18:36
So I mean, again, you’re an adult, but you’re not really following the news. If you know what I mean at that age.
18:36-18:43
So a lot of these these documentaries that Netflix is putting out is really good.
18:43-18:50
And I’ve been kind of getting into it. And now I’m watching Netflix more because I watch Netflix on Monday for all.
18:50-18:55
So see, that’s how they get you. That’s how they lure you in.
18:55-19:01
Kicking it off now with a request from a friend of mine, Bon Jovi.
19:01-19:05
It’s my life on Heedlix Rock Radio.
19:05-19:09
All right, folks, I am heading out.
19:09-19:15
But I’m going to always I’m going to leave you with one last good song.
19:15-19:19
I want to thank you all for listening again. You could hear me.
19:19-19:24
Well, Saturday and Sunday. Tomorrow is the replay from 9 to 11.
19:24-19:29
And then I also am I believe they’re replaying my show now on Thursday afternoon.
19:29-19:33
They need something to fill in there. So I’m happy to do it.
19:33-19:36
I want to thank you guys always for hanging out with me.
19:36-19:41
And I will see you on the next shit show.
19:41-19:46
Kicking it off with a song that you don’t hear that much anymore.
19:46-19:54
Fortunately, he’s not with W.E.M. or Batista, but Saliva wrote him a really cool theme song.
19:54-19:58
