All right, welcome to Saturday Shit Show. Well, I guess it’s not really the Saturday
00:27-00:31
Shit Show, it’s just the Shit Show. Well, it could be the Sunday Shit Show.
00:31-00:36
Either way, we’re here. It’s been a while since I’ve been live on the air.
00:36-00:41
I’ve had a lot going on, a lot going on with the station, a lot going on in general.
00:41-00:46
But glad to be here, glad to be hanging out with everybody.
00:46-00:56
Lot to talk about. Wrestling news, TV stuff, geek tech, all different stuff to talk about.
00:56-01:01
And we are going to be hanging out here for the next couple of hours, you know, just kind
01:01-01:10
of doing our show, doing our thang. But like I said, we are here the next couple of hours.
01:10-01:16
If you have some requests, send them in at brandon@rockradio.live. You can also catch
01:16-01:21
us, like I said, on our mobile app on iOS and Android and everywhere. We’re fine. Podcasts,
01:21-01:26
well, podcast radio stations are available. Like I said, it’s been a while since I’ve
01:26-01:30
been on. Looking forward to hanging out with you guys.
01:30-01:35
One of the first requests I have is from my wife. She said she wanted to hear some disturbed.
01:35-01:39
I know she’s listening, which is on the road right now on our mobile app. Kicking it off
01:39-01:45
now. One of her favorites disturbed the light here on Helix Rock Radio.
01:45-01:54
All right. Ozzy doing a remake of Crazy Train. There’s a lot of covers, obviously, of Ozzy
01:54-01:58
coming out, you know, because of everything that happened. You know, one of the great
01:58-02:05
legends and innovators of metal music, him and Black Sabbath. Both really great. We’re
02:05-02:10
going to kick it off in a minute here with a new one by Hailstorm. Just wanted to say
02:10-02:14
to you while we were off a bunch of, I mean, tons of news. I mean, there’s been news going
02:14-02:19
on for, you know, I mean, while we’re gone, obviously, but you know, it’s really neat that
02:19-02:25
the iPhone 17, a lot of people ask me if I’m an upgrade. I mean, you guys remember those
02:25-02:29
of you that have been listening on and off for a while. Remember last year I got the
02:29-02:34
16 Pro Max with the side button for the cameras over that. I don’t know. I don’t think this
02:34-02:38
year is a big enough of a year for me to upgrade personally. I think if anything, this is an
02:38-02:45
incremental upgrade. You know, I’m thinking maybe, maybe, maybe the 18th. They’re saying
02:45-02:50
Mark Gerber is saying that next year the 18 or possibly even the 19 is going to be their
02:50-02:55
big redesign and possibly the folding phone, stuff like that. So I’m thinking next year
02:55-03:00
might be my upgrade. I don’t think it’s going to be going to be this year. Maybe my kids
03:00-03:03
might want to upgrade, but we’ll see. I like I said, I think it’s an incremental upgrade
03:03-03:08
this year. Kind of like if you went from the 14 to the 15, it really wasn’t a big deal.
03:08-03:13
But then what do you want with the 14 to the 16? That felt like a big, a big jump. I had
03:13-03:21
a 14. So, you know, we’ll wait and see. Obviously, the new iOS and Mac OS came out, you know,
03:21-03:26
liquid glass, again, more fit and finish, I think more than anything else. There was
03:26-03:31
some pretty cool things in Mac OS with, you know, they’ve added, they’re starting to add
03:31-03:36
some of the phone features now to the, to the desktop OS. So I thought that was pretty
03:36-03:43
neat. Not a big, I mean, not a huge jump. You know, just, just another, you know, again,
03:43-03:46
Apple isn’t like Microsoft in the sense that they don’t Microsoft, you know, only once
03:46-03:51
a year or once every couple of years releases a huge update where this, you know, Apple
03:51-03:55
every year releases small updates to kind of keep, you know, things consistent and stuff
03:55-04:02
like that. You notice Apple no AI stuff at all. In any of the stuff this year, AI was
04:02-04:10
the big keyword last year, not really much this year at all. I’m imagining they’ve been,
04:10-04:14
you know, a little behind the eight ball with that. So hopefully, you know, we’ll see what
04:14-04:19
happens, but not much with that. I do like some of the search features. I do like being
04:19-04:23
able to turn, you know, the icons dark and stuff like that. I like being able to, you
04:23-04:27
know, some of the backgrounds and, and some of the other things they add very, very little,
04:27-04:32
like I said, the Mac OS seems to get, you know, less updates than, if we get to give
04:32-04:36
my dog is freaking out because somebody just walked along the outside. But you know, a
04:36-04:42
little more fit and finished stuff like that. So like I said, it’s really, really a minor
04:42-04:47
update. You know, I don’t know. I mean, people ask me all week, do should I update? Should
04:47-04:52
I update? Should I update? Again, it depends. You know, if you don’t mind, you know, maybe
04:52-04:56
you can have a couple of bug updates over the next couple of weeks, you go ahead and do
04:56-05:02
it. Like I said, not a big update. The watch update, though, and I really, to me personally,
05:02-05:07
the big thing for me, I thought was really, really cool was how Apple’s new Apple watch
05:07-05:12
could go ahead and detect the people with hypertension. I think that that’s a big one
05:12-05:16
because hypertension is like the silent killer. People don’t know they have hypertension.
05:16-05:22
Sometimes it’s also too late. So I think that to me was the really big upgrade. I think this
05:22-05:28
year was the watch with the, you know, the hypertension monitoring. I really think that’s
05:28-05:33
the big one. And obviously, the O2 sensor, obviously, working again, going through the
05:33-05:38
phone to get around the patent. So all that, like I said, not as far as Apple stuff, I don’t
05:38-05:43
think it’s a big, huge, huge update. But I don’t know, I thought I said I overall, I
05:43-05:47
think the hypertension update for me was was the big thing that I really think Apple is
05:47-05:51
kind of nailed it out of the park. A lot of people saying when’s the blood pressure thing
05:51-05:56
coming? I don’t know. Steve Gibson, he’s a security researcher. He said back in the
05:56-06:00
old days, he used to do a lot of coding for medical devices. And they were saying that
06:00-06:04
he’s not sure if they even can because I guess when you pump the cuff up and take the blood
06:04-06:08
pressure, there’s stuff that has to happen with when the cuff gets blown up and stuff
06:08-06:13
of that and might not be able to be able to duplicate that without something squeezing
06:13-06:18
your arm. So we’ll have to wait and see. Like I said, new one by Hailstorm, like a woman
06:18-06:25
can followed by Youngblood and Aerosmith and Alter Bridge here on Helix Rock Radio.
06:25-06:32
All right, little Alter Bridge. Those guys just never ever I mean they they always every
06:32-06:38
album has been amazing by them. They’re just so freaking talented. They’re one of my favorites.
06:38-06:42
Obviously they filled that void when when Creed went away for quite some time. But like
06:42-06:47
I said, they’re still great. And I really enjoy them. And like I said, if you if you’re not
06:47-06:51
an Alter Bridge fan, that’s OK. But yeah, I mean, you know, in different ways to create
06:51-06:56
an Alter Bridge is to lead singer. So so do what do we what do we all think of Russell
06:56-07:02
Palooza? Do we even watch Russell Palooza? I did. I thought it wasn’t I think it was
07:02-07:10
terrible. I think the obviously the AJ Lee and punk match really was the best kind of
07:10-07:16
best match out of all of them. I thought the John Cena match was kind of I don’t know,
07:16-07:20
I just wasn’t what I what I thought. I mean, what I think it could have been. And then
07:20-07:25
obviously we had, you know, the main event, which Cody obviously didn’t drop the bell.
07:25-07:29
We knew that was going to happen. I guess it wasn’t their worst pay per view. It wasn’t
07:29-07:35
their best pay per view. But hey, it either way, it was, you know, it was something, you
07:35-07:40
know, it was a decent show. Not I don’t think they knocked it out of the park for the first
07:40-07:47
show on ESPN plus, not like they did for the first show on Netflix. But again, I don’t
07:47-07:50
know, it could really go. I mean, either way, a lot of people, a lot of people liked it.
07:50-07:57
A lot of people didn’t. So yeah, it can go either way. Victory Road, TNA Victory Road,
07:57-08:04
obviously was this was this past Friday. I think the biggest news out of that was Ash
08:04-08:08
by elegance dropping the belt. She’s either got an injury or she’s having a baby one of
08:08-08:11
the other. That’s really kind of the only reason you would drop the belt. She hasn’t
08:11-08:16
announced why she did it. She just did it. So what I mean, again, she doesn’t have to
08:16-08:20
disclose what she did, but she that was good. I think they’re really the big news. I think
08:20-08:26
this was kind of, you know, it was a good pay per view. You know, definitely, you know,
08:26-08:31
Matt Cardona and the Nemesis. That was or the Nemesis. That was pretty decent. I like
08:31-08:37
that. And then like I said, Moose, Moose versus Tafa Ali. I mean, I’m a little biased
08:37-08:42
because I do like Moose. He was in Ring of Honor. Now he’s in TNA. So I do like Moose.
08:42-08:47
And obviously the Joe Henry, Eric Young was a lot of fun to watch. Joe Henry, obviously
08:47-08:51
we all know is going to be going to WV eventually. So that’s I mean, unfortunately, that that’s
08:51-08:58
part of it. So, you know, it’s a sin of his shame to see him go, but it’s it’s part of
08:58-09:04
the whole thing. So overall Victory Road, though, a lot of matches, a lot of great matches.
09:04-09:12
Leon Slater and Myron Reed, definitely some great if you didn’t want if you can find a
09:12-09:19
couple clips of it on YouTube, even they have highlights of it. Exactly what the X division
09:19-09:24
in wrestling is actually supposed to be. So I thought that was a really great match as
09:24-09:32
well. All out. I’m not going to lie. I did that was the same time as WWE. I didn’t I
09:32-09:36
don’t I mean, it’s hard for me because I mean, the problem is with the AW you got to keep
09:36-09:41
buying the pay per view. So it’s not like you can just subscribe and you get it. You
09:41-09:46
know, it’s one of those things where you got to keep buying it, you know, all the time,
09:46-09:51
you know, every single month and that can get pricey, especially with the price of, you
09:51-09:57
know, all that stuff going up. Obviously, the the edging Christian, obviously, that’s
09:57-10:02
always going to deliver because it’s edging Christian. I did like the casket match with
10:02-10:07
Darby Allen, but I like anything really with Darby Allen. So I don’t think that’s really
10:07-10:12
you know, much of a shocker there. Overall, I think it was I mean, I think it was good,
10:12-10:18
but I do I mean, I do think that AW is doing a good job with the product. I do like to
10:18-10:22
see Daniel Bryan on commentary now. It’s kind of neat to have a wrestler down there like
10:22-10:27
we kind of have a Jerry Lawler gives it a little more authenticity. But overall, I mean,
10:27-10:31
I do think it was I mean, it was a good pay per view. I didn’t like I said, I feel bad.
10:31-10:37
I didn’t watch all of it. But I did watch a couple matches that I wanted. I work clips
10:37-10:41
of the matches I wanted to watch. It’s just getting you know, it’s great time to be a
10:41-10:48
wrestling fan. You got all these major companies. Obviously, NXT had their their invasion, where
10:48-10:52
TNA invaded. I thought that was really great. The inspiration and then you started as you’re
10:52-10:56
watching it, you started to watch people sprinkle in throughout like the 10 minute match. It
10:56-11:00
was actually very well done. Like I said, I’m curious to see where they’re going to go with
11:00-11:04
this. And I’m curious to see what’s going to what’s going to transpire. Hopefully they do
11:04-11:10
a much better job with this than they did the invasion angle in WWE back in, you know, 2001.
11:10-11:16
That was kind of a wreck. So we’ll have to see kind of what happens here, what transpires here
11:17-11:21
over the next, you know, over the next couple months, I’m sure they’re going to build it up,
11:21-11:26
especially going, you know, we know war game. I think what they’re going to do is they’re going
11:26-11:33
to have an NXT war games with NXT versus TNA. I’m thinking that might be part of this build up.
11:33-11:38
Because that’s always around Survivor Series, which is usually around Thanksgiving time.
11:38-11:44
So I’m thinking that’s where they’re going with it. But we will have to wait and see. But again,
11:44-11:51
great time to be a wrestling fan. By the way, kicking it off, new one by Bush, land of milk
11:51-11:56
and honey. It’s great to see Bush back out again on the road touring again. Those guys, you know,
11:56-12:02
they’re getting in their 60s now. They definitely young enough to do it still. But you know,
12:02-12:07
it’s one of those things where, you know, those guys have, you know, the longevity they’ve had.
12:07-12:10
They had a little bit of a hiatus, but they’re back and it’s great to see them again. I love to see
12:10-12:16
Gavin Rossdale and all those guys from Bush. It’s just such a great band from that era.
12:16-12:23
I remember them playing at the Woodstock Fest in 99. So good to see them again. Like I said, Bush,
12:23-12:30
land of milk and honey here on Helix Rock Radio. Do you have a collection of articles from the

13:30-13:37
that’s Listen Later.net and sign up and get 20% extra credits by mentioning Helix Rock radio.
13:37-13:45
All right, new one by Puddle of Mud. Those guys have a, I mean, they’re not definitely
13:45-13:51
falling from the heights they were at, but it’s great to see Wes out there still making music.
13:51-13:56
He’s had a lot of personal issues, a lot of personal demons and stuff like that. So it’s
13:56-14:03
good to see him out there again. So coming up here, I have Crossfade. Those guys are back on
14:03-14:08
tour again. They played the first show they played in like 12 years, a little bit ago,
14:08-14:13
and now they’re on a tour this summer. And they’re also playing with Return to Dust,
14:13-14:18
that’s their opening act. So we’re going to play some of them as well. Like I said, it’s great to
14:18-14:26
see some of these bands coming back together. Crossfade really had one big hit and then they
14:26-14:31
went up, they went big album, which is the first album. And then fortunately, they kind of faded
14:31-14:34
away a little bit, came back. Their second album was really great. And then of course, again,
14:34-14:39
kind of went away again. It’s a shame because they are such a great band. They’ve had a lot of issues
14:39-14:45
over the years. And it’s unfortunate, but they are a great band and they are out on the road.
14:45-14:55
If you can see them along with Return to Dust here on Helix Rock Radio. All right, that was again,
14:55-15:02
Return to Dust. I want to bring up two folks coming up here in, well, I believe in November,
15:02-15:09
we’ve got tickets, of course, motionless in white. They are from northeast Pennsylvania.
15:09-15:18
They will be here, like I said, in November at the Mohegan Sun Arena. We will be there as well,
15:18-15:25
just like we were at Creed in this moment. Like I said, we will be there for the motionless
15:25-15:32
in white concert. Like I said, one of my favorite bands, one of my wife’s favorite bands as well.
15:32-15:38
So like I said, I’m looking forward to seeing them. If you have, if you can get tickets,
15:38-15:42
I think they still have tickets available. They actually are really, really good.
15:43-15:47
So a couple of people have actually emailed me since we’ve been on the air here.
15:47-15:56
By the way, usually I actually lose most of my, most of my listeners during football season.
15:56-16:02
I’m actually very grateful that you guys are listening despite football on Sunday. I really
16:02-16:09
appreciate that. There are many times where I have no emails during football season. So I’m,
16:09-16:15
I really appreciate people listening. So somebody had said to me, what do I think about the price
16:15-16:25
hike coming up for ESPN plus? So a little bit about that. First of all, I’m not, and I’m not
16:25-16:29
defending Disney for doing it, by the way, because I think Disney’s got enough freaking money.
16:29-16:35
What I, the way I took it was according to what I read on a couple of pretty reputable tech sites,
16:35-16:40
apparently they had said in their third quarter earnings that they were going to be upping the
16:40-16:46
prices anyway. So that’s like, oh, we were going to be doing it anyway. But you know, it’s one of
16:46-16:52
those things where I don’t think it’s really, I mean, they’re going to, they’re upping the prices
16:52-16:59
two to $3 per thing. So ESPN is going to go up two or three bucks. Hulu is going to go up two or
16:59-17:05
three bucks. Everything’s going up a couple dollars. So you’re probably going to end up probably
17:05-17:12
with a four or five, $6 price hike, depending on what you have. So we have the paper right here.
17:12-17:17
Of course, somebody has to walk by the front door. So it looks like if you have Disney,
17:17-17:22
Hulu, ESPN plus, you’re going to go, if you have the all three together, you’re going to get a $3
17:22-17:29
price hike. If you have just Hulu and Disney, it’s about two bucks. It looks like what happens here
17:29-17:38
is as you get deeper into the plans with no ads, that’s where the cut is a little bit deeper because
17:38-17:44
they have to make up for not showing those premier ads. So you’re going to go up three, four, five
17:44-17:53
bucks. So it’s one of those things. I personally, I mean, if you, it’s pretty nuts because if you’re
17:53-17:59
like me and you have, I say you have the Disney plus with Hulu and ESPN unlimited bundle, you’re
17:59-18:03
going to go up from about 44 bucks to about 50 bucks. So it, because you’re going to get a couple
18:03-18:09
extra dollars on every service. So if you like wrestling like I do, you’re going to have to
18:09-18:14
pay it. I know it stinks. Or if you have to just dump it, if you can’t afford it. I mean,
18:14-18:19
Disney and all these online services are getting greedy. I know HBO Max went up again.
18:19-18:23
And a lot of these services are going up. It’s kind of ridiculous, kind of stinks.
18:23-18:28
But unfortunately, it’s the nature of these online services. But I don’t think a lot of
18:28-18:31
you think, well, they’re, they’re, they’re doing it because so many people canceled.
18:31-18:35
They did say that they were going to go up to the last earnings report. I’m not saying that
18:35-18:40
they’re not doing it because of that too. They may even go up again, which let’s hope they don’t.
18:40-18:43
But they may even go up again to make up for the money they didn’t get because so many canceled.
18:43-18:49
I hope not, but we’ll have to say, like I said, it really stinks. And unfortunately for us that
18:49-18:53
want to watch WWE, it’s unfortunately one of those things we’re going to have to deal with.
18:53-18:59
Can you get off with another local band that’s from here? Breaking Benjamin. Breathe. All right,
18:59-19:06
breaking Benjamin. Another local band. So we got a request from somebody for Cedar.
19:06-19:10
They have a new one now. Walls come down. We’re going to play that next. But I got another email
19:10-19:15
here from somebody. She’s a regular. I don’t want to give her a name. I need to give her names out
19:15-19:21
in the air. She had said, Brandon, I know a lot of people. I know you are in the tech space.
19:21-19:28
Don’t forget to mention Windows 10. End of life is coming up rather soon. And she is right.
19:28-19:35
So Windows 10 is going to be end of life. It’s actually here within, I believe it’s a 16th.
19:35-19:38
I could be wrong here. But
19:38-19:47
looks like, okay, so Microsoft makes Windows 10 extended security updates free for an extra year.
19:47-19:55
So Microsoft is actually going to make Windows 10 extended support updates free for regions in Europe
19:55-20:04
due to, I guess, EU regulation. So Windows 10, again, now they’re saying it’s going to get a
20:04-20:12
free additional year of updates, security updates until October 14th of 2026 for regions in the
20:12-20:19
European area. So apparently, because of the EU, they’re going to keep it up. But as far as America
20:19-20:28
goes, Windows will be end of life October 14th of this coming month. And you know what, folks,
20:28-20:31
but you’re not, you don’t necessarily have to worry about it. If you want to keep getting your
20:31-20:37
security updates, go ahead. And there is a thing Microsoft will allow you to sign up and you can
20:37-20:43
go ahead and get your security updates for another year. So I think that’s pretty cool. I also want
20:43-20:51
to point out as well one other thing, folks, that along with those Windows updates, the cool thing
20:51-20:54
that does concern me going forward is going to be scams, people that know Windows 10 is coming to
20:54-20:59
end of life. And people, they’re going to get pop ups and stuff saying Windows is here to protect
20:59-21:03
you and stuff like that. And some of those will be probably legit. And because Microsoft is going
21:03-21:07
to want people to sign up for the service. But some of those are going to be scammed. So it’s
21:07-21:11
going to be, it’s going to be initial time because Microsoft has never actually done that and extended
21:11-21:17
you know, security updates to consumers. So we’ll have to see it’s going to be kind of kind of an
21:17-21:22
unknown. We’re going to hopefully people, if you are running Windows 10, see if you can upgrade to
21:22-21:28
11, it’s pretty good. Or if you can see about extending your Windows updates when that starts
21:28-21:32
rolling out here in the next week or two. If you’re unsure of anything that you’re going to scam
21:32-21:38
or anything or concerned, I’ll reach out to your IT support. Kick it off, walls come down, see
21:38-21:44
there. Lacuna coils, new one, wish you were dead. I have been a big fan of those guys since the
21:44-21:50
early days. They are an amazing band. So many, another email came in while I’m sitting here.
21:50-21:55
And again, thank you guys for listening because I usually lose a big chunk of my audience around
21:55-22:01
football time. People would rather listen to ESPN radio than listen to me. I’m insulted.
22:02-22:08
So many, she pointed out, don’t forget to mention the new Apple AirPods. I heard you
22:08-22:13
talking about tech earlier. You didn’t mention the new AirPods by Apple. And she is correct. I did
22:13-22:20
not mention them. The AirPods, the AirPods Pro 3 obviously have, well, I mean, you so, so this is
22:20-22:24
kind of interesting. I just want to point this out. I did not know this. So I have the AirPods Pro 2
22:24-22:31
and apparently the active, the active translation is available in the older ones too. So that’s
22:31-22:35
something that’s not just available to the new ones. They also barely have a much better fit.
22:35-22:41
They come with five ear tips now. And they are also going to have more active noise canceling,
22:41-22:44
which I don’t think they could get any better with active noise canceling, but they are.
22:44-22:51
And apparently they are going to have better sound quality, obviously longer battery life,
22:51-22:57
obviously. But they are actually going to be able, from what I’ve been told, they’re going to be able
22:57-23:02
to have, they’ll have a built in heart rate sensor on them. So you can track your heart rate and
23:02-23:10
saying something about possibly, I could be able to measure blood flow and some other things like
23:10-23:16
that. Very interesting, very cool. Again, Apple’s this health space thing is something that they are
23:16-23:23
very, very ingrained in. And they are going to keep doing it. And this, but this is the heart rate
23:23-23:27
monitor is kind of cool because they already have in your ears. So I thought that was really
23:27-23:33
neat. But again, just a good point to point out, you don’t need the newest ones for the active,
23:33-23:39
the live translation. So that is very important to know that. So if you have the twos that will
23:39-23:45
work also too, like I said, they better battery life, obviously. And, you know, like I said,
23:45-23:49
better fit, which has been a big complaint from mine for years, by the way, anybody that’s listened
23:49-23:53
to the show for the last year or so knows that that’s been the biggest complaint of mine is they
23:53-23:59
don’t fit in my ears. They’re constantly falling out, which is why I don’t use the pros as much
23:59-24:04
as I should. I use them mostly for ear, for earplugs and stuff like that when we go to loud
24:04-24:10
paces or concerts. But like I said, that is the new AirPods 3. And thank you, by the way, for
24:10-24:15
sending in this email and reminding me that I missed that. I talked about the watch, the phone,
24:15-24:23
and iOS and MacOS, but I did not talk about that. So thank you very much. Blue on black,
