00:00:12.000 –> 00:00:18.000
So welcome to the morning shit show as you guys call it.
00:00:18.000 –> 00:00:22.000
So we have a lot to talk about. I am your host Brandon.
00:00:22.000 –> 00:00:26.000
I’ll be rocking it with you here for the next couple of hours anyway.
00:00:26.000 –> 00:00:32.000
A couple of things I want to talk about. I talked about the Netflix documentary on Netflix last week.
00:00:32.000 –> 00:00:39.000
It is actually on the Netflix documentary, Nickelback documentary on Netflix.
00:00:39.000 –> 00:00:41.000
Wow, that’s a tongue twister.
00:00:41.000 –> 00:00:47.000
Apparently now it is on Netflix so you can go ahead and watch it if you have it so you don’t have to pay for it.
00:00:47.000 –> 00:00:50.000
It’s always nice when you get something for free.
00:00:50.000 –> 00:00:54.000
But go ahead and check that out. Like I said it is the Netflix, it’s on Netflix.
00:00:54.000 –> 00:00:57.000
It’s the Nickelback documentary. It talks about the band’s history.
00:00:57.000 –> 00:01:06.000
I did not realize when I watched it that the actual drummer for the band was originally with 3 Days 3 Doors Down.
00:01:06.000 –> 00:01:09.000
So I did not know that. There’s a bunch of things I didn’t know.
00:01:09.000 –> 00:01:16.000
Chad Krueger had a lot of points about how a lot of people don’t recognize the other members of the band.
00:01:16.000 –> 00:01:21.000
But everybody recognizes him and he never can get away from the hate and all that.
00:01:21.000 –> 00:01:26.000
It really was a really well done documentary. I believe it was actually done by them themselves.
00:01:26.000 –> 00:01:30.000
So like I said check that out if you are a Nickelback fan.
00:01:30.000 –> 00:01:33.000
It actually was a very good documentary.
00:01:33.000 –> 00:01:35.000
I’m not just saying that because I’m a fan of Nickelback.
00:01:35.000 –> 00:01:38.000
I’m saying it because it actually was just that good.
00:01:38.000 –> 00:01:47.000
Also too, this weekend coming up tonight we have the Money in the Bank pay per view from WWE.
00:01:47.000 –> 00:01:52.000
I know it’s not a pay per view. They’re PLEs now. But we have the WWE PLE.
00:01:52.000 –> 00:01:55.000
I’m looking forward to that. We’re going to talk about that in a little bit.
00:01:55.000 –> 00:02:00.000
AEW had their big pay per view last week. That was on a Sunday night.
00:02:00.000 –> 00:02:03.000
So this is the first time we’re going to get a chance to talk about that as well.
00:02:03.000 –> 00:02:07.000
A lot to talk about here on the show. A lot to get to.
00:02:07.000 –> 00:02:16.000
So a couple people, of course, our wonderful audience has already informed me via email and our Twitter.
00:02:16.000 –> 00:02:24.000
That the show is a little late today. Yes, I usually get on about 9 o’clock or so and do a couple hour show.
00:02:24.000 –> 00:02:29.000
But unfortunately I had to take one of our puppies to the vet.
00:02:29.000 –> 00:02:36.000
He’s not really a puppy. He’s 5 now. But Obi the Wonder Dog had to go to the vet this morning.
00:02:36.000 –> 00:02:43.000
He threw his back out. Like, you know the old saying, animals are a reflection of their owner?
00:02:43.000 –> 00:02:50.000
Well apparently he has a back issue like I do. So rest, steroids, stuff like that.
00:02:50.000 –> 00:02:53.000
He should be back on his feet in about 10 days the vet said.
00:02:53.000 –> 00:02:58.000
But I know how you feel buddy. He’s laying actually right here in the studio with me.
00:02:58.000 –> 00:03:02.000
We ran right from the vet right back home to do the show.
00:03:02.000 –> 00:03:07.000
But I do appreciate any of you guys that take care of animals.
00:03:07.000 –> 00:03:15.000
If you’re animal lovers like us here at the station, or if you’re thinking of getting a pet,
00:03:15.000 –> 00:03:17.000
Destin Animal Shelter, they’re a great place.
00:03:17.000 –> 00:03:23.000
But we actually went to Narrowsburg vet today. Up in Narrowsburg they were a very nice great vet.
00:03:23.000 –> 00:03:29.000
Husband and wife team. Great to support them. They really go out of their way to help pets.
00:03:29.000 –> 00:03:32.000
And like I said, that’s Narrowsburg. They’re not paying us for that.
00:03:32.000 –> 00:03:36.000
That’s just me saying thank you to them for getting us in so early.
00:03:36.000 –> 00:03:41.000
And taking care of my buddy Opie. He’s actually laying here pretty quiet.
00:03:41.000 –> 00:03:47.000
They gave him a shot for pain management. So he’s probably feeling pretty good right about now.
00:03:47.000 –> 00:03:54.000
But that’s why the show is on a little late today. Like I said, we are huge animal lovers.
00:03:54.000 –> 00:03:58.000
And like I said, Destin Animal Shelter does work with us.
00:03:58.000 –> 00:04:03.000
And we’re trying to get pets adopted. They have a lot of dogs right now and tons of cats that need home.
00:04:03.000 –> 00:04:08.000
So if you are thinking about getting a pet, please adopt it from the shelter.
00:04:08.000 –> 00:04:13.000
They do such wonderful work and they can use the help. So we appreciate that.
00:04:13.000 –> 00:04:18.000
A couple things I want to talk about before we get into the next round of music.
00:04:18.000 –> 00:04:21.000
I got a bunch of good stuff lined up for you. The new one by Miles Kennedy.
00:04:21.000 –> 00:04:27.000
But I’d like to talk a little bit about what’s going on with WWE, man.
00:04:27.000 –> 00:04:31.000
So SummerSlam is going to be coming up here I believe in August.
00:04:31.000 –> 00:04:37.000
They got Money in the Bank tonight. I’m curious to see who they’re going to pick as the next Money in the Bank winner.
00:04:37.000 –> 00:04:41.000
So we’ll have to see about that. I don’t know yet, but we’ll have to see.
00:04:41.000 –> 00:04:47.000
But I’m waiting for the CM Punk Drew McIntyre.
00:04:47.000 –> 00:04:55.000
I mean that match is so huge. It doesn’t need a title to make it any bigger, I think, personally.
00:04:55.000 –> 00:04:57.000
But we will have to see.
00:04:57.000 –> 00:05:01.000
I’m looking forward to that. I believe that’s going to be a SummerSlam match.
00:05:01.000 –> 00:05:08.000
The other thing also is WWE released WrestleMania behind the curtain.
00:05:08.000 –> 00:05:16.000
And kind of shows really how WWE really adjusts stuff on the fly and how they do things.
00:05:16.000 –> 00:05:28.000
The whole creative process for them is interesting to me just because as a resident fan how they have to steer the ship.
00:05:28.000 –> 00:05:32.000
How they have things written out six, eight months, a year in advance.
00:05:32.000 –> 00:05:37.000
And if somebody gets hurt, how that completely changes everything down the line.
00:05:37.000 –> 00:05:50.000
Cody was planned to lose last WrestleMania to give him a hot year build up to this.
00:05:50.000 –> 00:05:58.000
And then of course CM Punk coming back. They were going to have him versus Seth Rollins.
00:05:58.000 –> 00:06:01.000
But apparently of course Punk got hurt.
00:06:01.000 –> 00:06:04.000
So now plans had to be adjusted.
00:06:04.000 –> 00:06:11.000
So they were adjusting those plans and while they were adjusting those plans, they had, you know, the Rock came back.
00:06:11.000 –> 00:06:19.000
And now they’re going to see, “Okay, well are we going to do the Rock, Roman Reigns and then let Cody go after Seth Rollins belt?”
00:06:19.000 –> 00:06:23.000
But then that kind of, you know, hurts Cody a little bit.
00:06:23.000 –> 00:06:28.000
So that’s when they decided to kind of go the way they went with it.
00:06:28.000 –> 00:06:38.000
It’s really the whole process just because if you’re a fan of wrestling or if you’re a fan of any kind of creative process, content creation or anything like that.
00:06:38.000 –> 00:06:45.000
Really shows what happened kind of behind the scenes and kind of the business of the business kind of thing.
00:06:45.000 –> 00:06:47.000
So it actually was really cool.
00:06:47.000 –> 00:06:53.000
So go ahead and like I said, if you’re interested in watching, it actually was a very good documentary.
00:06:53.000 –> 00:06:54.000
It’s free on YouTube.
00:06:54.000 –> 00:06:56.000
It’s about an hour and 20 minutes long.
00:06:56.000 –> 00:06:58.000
It actually is really good.
00:06:58.000 –> 00:07:03.000
Speaking of WWE, Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins married three years.
00:07:03.000 –> 00:07:04.000
Good for them, man.
00:07:04.000 –> 00:07:13.000
That’s, you know, I really have for those guys, if I was a wrestler, I would like to, you know, I like the fact that they travel together.
00:07:13.000 –> 00:07:14.000
They bring their daughter with them.
00:07:14.000 –> 00:07:19.000
You know, they just kind of, their family and their family just kind of goes with them.
00:07:19.000 –> 00:07:23.000
And apparently a lot of other wrestlers are starting to do that as well now.
00:07:23.000 –> 00:07:33.000
Years ago it used to be kind of a boys club and now it’s just like a family, WWE isn’t very family oriented where it used to be just you’re on the road and that’s it.
00:07:33.000 –> 00:07:36.000
So definitely different, differently cool.
00:07:36.000 –> 00:07:44.000
And the other thing as well that was interesting to me is I did finally watch AEW’s Forbidden Door.
00:07:44.000 –> 00:07:49.000
Not TNA’s best, sorry, not AEW’s best pay-per-view.
00:07:49.000 –> 00:07:53.000
But it was really cool for Britt Baker to come back.
00:07:53.000 –> 00:07:59.000
She talked about recently how she had kind of a mini stroke and she was struggling, she had to take time off.
00:07:59.000 –> 00:08:04.000
But AEW definitely wasn’t their best pay-per-view.
00:08:04.000 –> 00:08:06.000
The whole ladder match was really good.
00:08:06.000 –> 00:08:10.000
I thought Mercedes Monroe was pretty good.
00:08:10.000 –> 00:08:16.000
I think it was, I hate to say this, I think it was a kind of a lackluster pay-per-view.
00:08:16.000 –> 00:08:20.000
The Daniel Bryan match was really good, or Bryan Danielson now.
00:08:20.000 –> 00:08:24.000
But I wouldn’t say it’s their best pay-per-view.
00:08:24.000 –> 00:08:27.000
It was a good pay-per-view but it wasn’t their best.
00:08:27.000 –> 00:08:28.000
Let’s leave it that way.
00:08:28.000 –> 00:08:32.000
And of course July 20th we have TNA’s Slammiversary.
00:08:32.000 –> 00:08:33.000
We’ll have to watch that.
00:08:33.000 –> 00:08:34.000
That should be a good time.
00:08:34.000 –> 00:08:39.000
So a lot going on if you are a wrestling fan right now.
00:08:39.000 –> 00:08:41.000
A lot of stuff to watch.
00:08:41.000 –> 00:08:50.000
I do think that, I really do believe that if you are looking for a good show,
00:08:50.000 –> 00:08:56.000
I do think AEW has better weekly shows because the majority of their money is made on television.
00:08:56.000 –> 00:09:06.000
So they really do take their weekly shows a little more serious than WWE who just uses their weekly shows to build up to pay-per-views.
00:09:06.000 –> 00:09:13.000
So I do think AEW has the better weekly show but this definitely wasn’t their strongest pay-per-view.
00:09:13.000 –> 00:09:19.000
I think WWE definitely does better PLE’s but AEW definitely has the better week-to-week product.
00:09:19.000 –> 00:09:28.000
TNA has had amazing pay-per-views as well but their weekly shows haven’t been that hot personally.
00:09:28.000 –> 00:09:39.000
A couple other things, somebody had sent me some news and I thought it was pretty cool talking about Netflix.
00:09:39.000 –> 00:09:43.000
Apparently people are upset because Netflix is going up with their prices again.
00:09:43.000 –> 00:09:50.000
Again, not really, I don’t want to say it’s not news but it kind of isn’t because Netflix does keep going up with the prices.
00:09:50.000 –> 00:09:56.000
When I went to the Apple store the other day, I was actually looking to test out the Vision Pro.
00:09:56.000 –> 00:09:58.000
My wife and I both got a demo.
00:09:58.000 –> 00:10:04.000
And apparently you can’t watch Netflix or YouTube on it yet.
00:10:04.000 –> 00:10:09.000
You can watch Disney Plus, you can watch Apple Plus content.
00:10:09.000 –> 00:10:15.000
But so far there’s tons of games.
00:10:15.000 –> 00:10:18.000
I’m really upset with the lack of app market.
00:10:18.000 –> 00:10:27.000
That was the one thing that really upset me when we went to the Apple store to test the Vision Pro was the lack of app support.
00:10:27.000 –> 00:10:35.000
Something like that that’s so big, there’s not a lot of entertainment apps yet for it.
00:10:35.000 –> 00:10:48.000
The guys are like “well they’re coming, I know they’re coming” but $3,500 just to watch Disney Plus or Apple TV seems just a little steep to me.
00:10:48.000 –> 00:10:53.000
For two services I don’t watch a whole lot of content on.
00:10:53.000 –> 00:11:02.000
We watch a lot of Netflix, a lot of HBO Max, well it’s Max now not HBO Max, but Hulu, stuff like that.
00:11:02.000 –> 00:11:08.000
We don’t watch a whole lot of Apple Plus or Disney Plus content so I don’t know.
00:11:08.000 –> 00:11:12.000
I think Star Wars would definitely be cool on it.
00:11:12.000 –> 00:11:18.000
Maybe the Marvel Avengers movies would be cool on it.
00:11:18.000 –> 00:11:27.000
But I can’t spend $3,500 just to watch two services like that.
00:11:27.000 –> 00:11:41.000
The other thing that is interesting though, getting to the news that the person sent, was Apple is saying they are working on, or rumor has it, that Apple is working on a cheaper Vision Pro.
00:11:41.000 –> 00:11:48.000
Apparently what Apple is saying is if they get a cheaper Vision Pro they think it would sell better.
00:11:48.000 –> 00:12:04.000
So what this would be was, from early speculation, instead of having all the chips on the actual device, it would somehow connect to your phone and use the processor on your phone so they could cut back there.
00:12:04.000 –> 00:12:14.000
Also maybe less sensors and less screens because I think that’s the issue, there’s screens all over this thing and the screens are very expensive.
00:12:14.000 –> 00:12:20.000
So they’re looking at a way to make a cheaper Pro that might tether with the phone.
00:12:20.000 –> 00:12:26.000
Because right now you don’t need a phone to work with a Vision Pro, it’s all standalone.
00:12:26.000 –> 00:12:34.000
So maybe a Vision Pro with AirPods, so in other words you’d use your AirPods for the sound so they could cut back on the speakers.
00:12:34.000 –> 00:12:42.000
You connect to your phone, use the processor on your phone so they don’t have to put in those two beefy processors.
00:12:42.000 –> 00:12:52.000
They’re looking at all different ways, maybe cutting back on sensors, maybe making a version that’s not as good so they can cut back on the screen quality.
00:12:52.000 –> 00:12:59.000
They’re looking at a bunch of different things, obviously the guy at the Apple store didn’t tell me that, but that’s what the rumor is anyway.
00:12:59.000 –> 00:13:13.000
They’re looking for a way to make a cheaper Vision Pro leveraging existing hardware. So imagine that would be your phone.
00:13:13.000 –> 00:13:21.000
Or maybe it works with a Mac or an M Mac, maybe you have to pair it with a computer, maybe not your phone, maybe your computer. I don’t know.
00:13:21.000 –> 00:13:32.000
That’s what the rumor is, we’ll have to wait and see what Apple does, but that is the rumor that the next Vision Pro will be pairing with something so that Apple can cut back on the cost.
00:13:33.000 –> 00:13:40.000
Do you have a collection of articles from the internet that you want to read but don’t have time to dive into at the moment?
00:13:40.000 –> 00:13:45.000

00:13:45.000 –> 00:13:53.000

00:14:34.000 –> 00:14:42.000
Again, that’s ListenLater.net and sign up and get 20% extra credits by mentioning Helix Rock radio.
00:14:43.000 –> 00:14:47.000
So a couple things to chat about.
00:14:47.000 –> 00:15:03.000
So, my wife and I have been, since the 4th was here, we always kind of get on a movie kick around the 4th. We don’t do a lot on Fortune July weekend but we do kind of go on these movie kicks, series binges.
00:15:03.000 –> 00:15:19.000
We actually watched, so there’s a service called BritBox, which basically is a bunch of the British shows. British shows are kind of weird, sometimes they do good here in America, sometimes they don’t.
00:15:19.000 –> 00:15:34.000
We watched After the Flood, which, I don’t know, the trailer was good, it was a little slow starting off and then it, well, it didn’t really get much better.
00:15:34.000 –> 00:15:41.000
It picked up a little bit and then slowed back down again. I don’t know, it’s called After the Flood, it’s on BritBox.
00:15:41.000 –> 00:15:50.000
I don’t know, if you take a look at the trailer, you would see, I thought it was good, would I watch it again? Probably not.
00:15:50.000 –> 00:16:01.000
It’s, I don’t know, it just wasn’t, I don’t know, maybe it’s just British TV. I don’t know, British TV is weird. Like Doctor Who is British TV, but it does really well over here.
00:16:01.000 –> 00:16:13.000
This series, supposedly, was supposed to be, it was getting rave reviews, I watched it, we didn’t really care for it, but, yeah. So that’s After the Flood.
00:16:13.000 –> 00:16:18.000
The other thing my wife and I watched, Trigger Warning with Jessica Alba, that was actually pretty good.
00:16:18.000 –> 00:16:26.000
Your typical action movie, you know, you watch, you know, Netflix action movies, let’s put it that way.
00:16:26.000 –> 00:16:32.000
You know, you have one big actor and the rest are nobody you’ve ever heard of, but I thought it was really good.
00:16:32.000 –> 00:16:38.000
My wife thought it was really good, very like women empowerment, I thought it was great.
00:16:38.000 –> 00:16:47.000
Personally, I like action movies, I don’t have to do a lot of thinking, just watch, you know, action. Boom, boom, that’s it. That’s just me personally.
00:16:47.000 –> 00:16:57.000
But I thought it was good, it’s called Trigger Warning. The other one we started watching was Orphan Black, but it’s called Echoes.
00:16:57.000 –> 00:17:03.000
It’s with, I forget her name, she was Jessica Jones on Netflix, she was in Breaking Bad, she’s been a lot of stuff.
00:17:03.000 –> 00:17:09.000
Ritter, I think it is, forget me about that, I don’t remember the first name, but her last name is Ritter.
00:17:09.000 –> 00:17:18.000
But that was really good, we’re watching that. So that is an interesting series, so apparently that already played all through in 2003 in Australia.
00:17:18.000 –> 00:17:28.000
But it just came to America this year on AMC+. You can actually find most of the episodes online, like if you wanted to watch it on Amazon you could just buy the whole season.
00:17:28.000 –> 00:17:34.000
Or if you wanted to get AMC+ you could watch it every week, but that was actually really really well.
00:17:34.000 –> 00:17:41.000
So thanks for watching that, we really like that. We’re watching The Boys now, we’re finally on season 2 with that.
00:17:41.000 –> 00:17:48.000
I know that’s something really the audience, our audience here on the show, really cares about what I’m watching on TV.
00:17:48.000 –> 00:17:53.000
I always get messages from you guys after we talk about TV, what I’m watching and stuff like that.
00:17:53.000 –> 00:17:59.000
So if you have any more suggestions let me know. Like I said I did watch the Nickelback documentary.
00:17:59.000 –> 00:18:11.000
I’m trying to think if I watched anything else, I don’t believe I did. We watched quite a bit of stuff, but it was, like I said, after the flood took up like 6 hours of our life.
00:18:11.000 –> 00:18:16.000
And after I was done with it I felt like I’m never going to get this back.
00:18:16.000 –> 00:18:25.000
Also too, House of the Dragons heating up season, well episode 3 now came out, we’re going to have episode 4 coming up here.
00:18:25.000 –> 00:18:29.000
It’s heating up, it’s very good, my wife and I are really getting into that.
00:18:29.000 –> 00:18:35.000
That’s one of those shows too that when that’s on the house shuts down.
00:18:35.000 –> 00:18:43.000
I would say House of the Dragon is the closest thing in our lives to, like when The Sopranos were on the house shut down for that hour.
00:18:43.000 –> 00:18:50.000
We may not watch it live, but when we do watch it it’s like we’re watching this, nobody bother us.
00:18:50.000 –> 00:18:56.000
So I thought that was, like I said, that show definitely has filled that void for us here in the house.
00:18:56.000 –> 00:19:01.000
Helix Rock Radio, the online station that really rocks.
00:19:01.000 –> 00:19:07.000
By the way folks, just to point out before the break, music break, whatever you want to call it.
00:19:07.000 –> 00:19:16.000
The name of the show is Halt in Catch Fire. Yes, I have downloaded that, but I have not watched it yet.
00:19:16.000 –> 00:19:20.000
I know a couple of people have asked me about that, I have not.
00:19:20.000 –> 00:19:25.000
Like I said, I haven’t watched it yet, but I will watch it fairly soon.
00:19:25.000 –> 00:19:30.000
Also too, by the way, we talked about Netflix raising their prices.
00:19:30.000 –> 00:19:39.000
Netflix is also, by the way, discontinuing their basic ad tier.
00:19:39.000 –> 00:19:51.000
So when Netflix first decided to go with ads, basically they had their premium tier, their basic plus tier, and then their ad supported tier.
00:19:51.000 –> 00:20:02.000
Well apparently Netflix now is pushing forward with its plan to disconnect its ad, discontinue its ad free basic tier in markets where it’s still available.
00:20:02.000 –> 00:20:12.000
I mean, here in the US and Canada, UK, we’ve all been without it, but there’s other countries where they for some reason had to leave it.
00:20:12.000 –> 00:20:22.000
I don’t know why that is, but apparently, like I said, Netflix has announced that July 13th there will not be a basic plus plan anymore.
00:20:22.000 –> 00:20:25.000
So for those of you that do listen, we do have pockets of listeners overseas.
00:20:25.000 –> 00:20:31.000
If you are using Netflix, that basic plus plan will be going away.
00:20:31.000 –> 00:20:41.000
Also too, by the way, Threads, which is Facebook’s competitor to X, what we used to call Twitter, remember that?
00:20:41.000 –> 00:20:45.000
There are apparently 175 million monthly active users.
00:20:45.000 –> 00:20:50.000
They have integrated the Fediverse, which is the same thing Mastodon uses.
00:20:50.000 –> 00:20:52.000
That’s really helped growth tremendously from what they’re saying.
00:20:52.000 –> 00:21:13.000
So I actually have a lot of people, Andy Inako, if you guys don’t know who he is, Jason Snell, a lot of people have said, a lot of journalists and people that do a lot of fan engagement have said they get a lot of interaction from Threads.
00:21:13.000 –> 00:21:17.000
So they can’t forget about it.
00:21:17.000 –> 00:21:23.000
I’ve noticed that myself. There is a lot more interaction on Threads I’ve been noticing recently.
00:21:23.000 –> 00:21:29.000
Threads kind of took off like a rocket and then kind of like tapered off a little bit.
00:21:29.000 –> 00:21:38.000
But now they said it’s coming back. People like Brad Sams, Paul Thuratt, a lot of journalists are going on it.
00:21:38.000 –> 00:21:44.000
And it seems like they’re getting a lot of interaction. I know myself, I get a lot of interaction on it.
00:21:44.000 –> 00:21:48.000
So if you’re not on Threads, jump on Threads, look us up.
00:21:48.000 –> 00:21:56.000
Like I said, we are on there. We do get some fan interaction on there and we have actually got a lot of new listeners from Threads.
00:21:56.000 –> 00:22:00.000
So whatever Facebook’s doing, it’s definitely working.
00:22:00.000 –> 00:22:04.000
A couple people have brought up that they were having a hard time getting books on their Kindles.
00:22:04.000 –> 00:22:08.000
Apparently Amazon announced they did have an outage the other day.
00:22:08.000 –> 00:22:17.000
So if you were struggling with your Kindle, not to worry, everything should be back up and running now.
00:22:17.000 –> 00:22:24.000
Some other things as well that I thought were kind of interesting and relevant.
00:22:24.000 –> 00:22:40.000
Apparently there is a new service rolling out on Cloudflare now that will feature a way for blocking AI companies from doing web scraping.
00:22:40.000 –> 00:22:45.000
I’m wondering how, the reason why I’m bringing this up is a lot of companies do web scraping.
00:22:45.000 –> 00:22:48.000
Google does it and a bunch of others do it.
00:22:48.000 –> 00:22:55.000
Now Cloudflare is going to have a way if you want to prevent companies from scraping your information.
00:22:55.000 –> 00:23:03.000
Another reason why this is relevant, a lot of companies, especially higher companies, to do marketing research for them.
00:23:03.000 –> 00:23:05.000
They will actually do web scraping.
00:23:05.000 –> 00:23:10.000
When Google does it, they actually crawl the site and rank the site and all that.
00:23:10.000 –> 00:23:19.000
This is really going to be more for those advertising companies that scrape sites for phone numbers and then call you up for soliciting and stuff like this.
00:23:19.000 –> 00:23:26.000
There is a company called Perplex AI.
00:23:26.000 –> 00:23:29.000
They are a search engine startup.
00:23:29.000 –> 00:23:36.000
These companies scan your site looking for phone numbers and stuff like that to call you.
00:23:36.000 –> 00:23:39.000
This is going to hopefully help with that.
00:23:39.000 –> 00:23:42.000
I’m not sure how much, I mean you’re still going to get scammers and stuff like that.
00:23:42.000 –> 00:23:48.000
It will help with the legit calls but for, you know, it’s not going to help for everything.
00:23:48.000 –> 00:23:58.000
But it is a way to use AI that I thought was interesting to actually help the world rather than be an issue.
00:23:58.000 –> 00:24:02.000
OpenAI, speaking of AI, got in trouble this week.
00:24:02.000 –> 00:24:08.000
Apparently their app that they released from Mac OS was actually storing information in clear text.
00:24:08.000 –> 00:24:11.000
That has been resolved now.
00:24:11.000 –> 00:24:14.000
You know, not the first time something like this has happened.
00:24:14.000 –> 00:24:26.000
If you guys remember a bunch of years ago, Apple had an issue where they play accident hit a button and when you had your drive encrypted, it would actually leave the key there decrypted.
00:24:26.000 –> 00:24:30.000
So I thought that was a little funny that that happened again.
00:24:30.000 –> 00:24:38.000
You know, sometimes software is made by people and people make mistakes and that’s kind of what happens.
00:24:38.000 –> 00:24:43.000
Also too, Microsoft doing a round of layoffs.
00:24:43.000 –> 00:24:46.000
They always do some layoffs this time of year, reshuffle.
00:24:46.000 –> 00:24:51.000
Microsoft saying that they have to shuffle around some people.
00:24:51.000 –> 00:24:54.000
People posted on LinkedIn.
00:24:54.000 –> 00:24:56.000
So we’ll see.
00:24:56.000 –> 00:25:02.000
Microsoft has been reshuffling the deck a little bit, especially with now this push for AI.
00:25:02.000 –> 00:25:07.000
They have been reshuffling Windows on Arm and all that.
00:25:07.000 –> 00:25:17.000
The thing that is interesting is that I know a lot of people that do work for Microsoft and what a lot of times they do is you may lose your job here, but you can just get rehired over here.
00:25:17.000 –> 00:25:18.000
They are usually pretty good.
00:25:18.000 –> 00:25:23.000
Even though they are saying yes, layoffs, but those layoffs may also be reshuffling around.
00:25:23.000 –> 00:25:34.000
When you are a big company like Microsoft with so many products and moving parts, it’s fairly possible a lot of those people will end up going into other divisions, things like that.
00:25:34.000 –> 00:25:36.000
But it really stinks.
00:25:36.000 –> 00:25:44.000
There are some people that will get laid off and that’s unfortunate, but it does happen unfortunately in big companies like that.
00:25:44.000 –> 00:25:45.000
It’s a shame.
00:25:45.000 –> 00:25:48.000
Something else that I thought was interesting.
00:25:48.000 –> 00:25:56.000
Sony released a big post on their website saying that they want to phase out discs.
00:25:56.000 –> 00:26:00.000
Sony won’t phase out Blu-ray movies and game discs.
00:26:00.000 –> 00:26:20.000
Sony is saying they are laying off 250 employees in a division that handles Blu-ray discs, but apparently the people they are laying off, it’s related to people that work on formats like CD-R, DVD-Rs, BRD, stuff like that.
00:26:20.000 –> 00:26:25.000
They are trying to phase certain things out, but they are going to keep the Blu-rays.
00:26:25.000 –> 00:26:29.000
They are going to keep releasing discs for the PlayStations and stuff like that.
00:26:29.000 –> 00:26:41.000
Xbox, none of that is going to change as far as the discs they are creating or the Blu-ray formats or any of the formats that support video gaming.
00:26:41.000 –> 00:26:52.000
Apparently they are trying to get rid of the actual physical media firm of the company, but this won’t affect anything else.
00:26:52.000 –> 00:27:01.000
I know Microsoft just released that Xbox a couple weeks ago without a CD player slot.
00:27:01.000 –> 00:27:03.000
It made it a little cheaper.
00:27:03.000 –> 00:27:18.000
But the truth is these companies want to get rid of DVD slots because they want to be able to sell you the game directly and cut out places like Wal-Mart, GameStop, Target, stuff like that.
00:27:18.000 –> 00:27:22.000
I’m very curious to see where this will go over the next couple of years.
00:27:22.000 –> 00:27:29.000
Not just because of Sony, but just because physical media is a thing that is starting to get phased out.
00:27:29.000 –> 00:27:35.000
But yet video games are the last part of holding onto that.
00:27:35.000 –> 00:27:38.000
Vinyl is still not going away.
00:27:38.000 –> 00:27:41.000
Vinyl outsold CDs this year.
00:27:41.000 –> 00:27:44.000
I’m very curious to see where this is going to go.
00:27:44.000 –> 00:27:48.000
Hard drives are still portable hard drives.
00:27:48.000 –> 00:27:53.000
I’m very curious to see in the next 10 years what happens with physical media.
00:27:53.000 –> 00:27:55.000
It will be very interesting to see.
00:27:55.000 –> 00:27:59.000
Couple of things folks. I want to clean out the mail bag real quick.
00:27:59.000 –> 00:28:11.000
Couple of questions. If you guys have any questions, tech questions, anything you want to say, please send it to brandon@rockradio.live.
00:28:11.000 –> 00:28:15.000
You can find the link on our website, rockradio.live.
00:28:15.000 –> 00:28:24.000
Somebody asked me, thinking about buying a pair of AirPods Max, what do I think?
00:28:24.000 –> 00:28:28.000
I would wait. Those things are like 3 or 4 years old now.
00:28:28.000 –> 00:28:31.000
Apple is going to be coming out with a new pair.
00:28:31.000 –> 00:28:35.000
If you still want to buy them, the original pair, that’s great. That’s fine.
00:28:35.000 –> 00:28:41.000
I would wait until the new ones debut. You probably could get them much cheaper.
00:28:41.000 –> 00:28:47.000
I would wait and then if you do want to buy them, buy them.
00:28:47.000 –> 00:28:55.000
Also maybe if you care. I know a lot of people buying them used and then just buying ear cups for them.
00:28:55.000 –> 00:28:58.000
That might be something as well you can do.
00:28:58.000 –> 00:29:01.000
I would wait just to see what they release.
00:29:01.000 –> 00:29:07.000
Apple is definitely going to be coming out with some new hardware with the holiday season here in the next couple months and back to school.
00:29:07.000 –> 00:29:10.000
I would actually wait on that personally.
00:29:10.000 –> 00:29:17.000
Somebody asked me, my daughter is going to college, I was wondering what a good computer recommendation for college would be.
00:29:17.000 –> 00:29:25.000
You could always get them. If they want Windows, Lenovo makes a great machine, the Yoga.
00:29:25.000 –> 00:29:32.000
Surface, I actually really like Microsoft Surface computers or a MacBook Air if she wants a Mac.
00:29:32.000 –> 00:29:34.000
She’s probably not going to need a Pro.
00:29:34.000 –> 00:29:40.000
I would actually, depending on what she’s going for, she’s just going to use her papers and stuff like that.
00:29:40.000 –> 00:29:43.000
Any of those kind of machines will do.
00:29:43.000 –> 00:29:50.000
You might actually want to call the school or reach out to her college advisor to see what they recommend.
00:29:50.000 –> 00:29:53.000
Also too, you might be able to get educational pricing.
00:29:53.000 –> 00:30:02.000
A lot of times these schools are tied in with Apple or Lenovo or HP or whatever and you can actually get a machine at educational pricing.
00:30:02.000 –> 00:30:04.000
I would do that.
00:30:04.000 –> 00:30:11.000
Like I said, I would lean towards the Lenovo Yoga, Microsoft Surface or a Mac maybe.
00:30:11.000 –> 00:30:15.000
It depends on what she wants and also what the school is recommending she has.
00:30:15.000 –> 00:30:17.000
Check that out.
00:30:17.000 –> 00:30:23.000
Another, somebody else has a message. They said they want to upgrade to 11.
00:30:23.000 –> 00:30:27.000
The computer is only a couple of years old but it’s not compatible.
00:30:27.000 –> 00:30:34.000
You might have to check on your TPM settings and turn your TPM security on in your BIOS.
00:30:34.000 –> 00:30:38.000
A lot of gaming computers that came with Windows 10 would turn that off.
00:30:38.000 –> 00:30:41.000
You can go ahead and just turn that on.
00:30:41.000 –> 00:30:43.000
That should actually do it for you.
00:30:43.000 –> 00:30:49.000
If the machine is only a year or two old, it should have TPM in the BIOS. It might not just be disabled.
00:30:49.000 –> 00:30:52.000
I had that on one of my gaming rigs not too long ago.
00:30:52.000 –> 00:30:57.000
Somebody asked about buying a GoPro. What do I recommend?
00:30:57.000 –> 00:31:00.000
I don’t know a lot about the GoPros if I’m being honest with you.
00:31:00.000 –> 00:31:03.000
I’m not really into the kind of stuff.
00:31:03.000 –> 00:31:09.000
I’m not really sure on that. I hate to give recommendations or something. I don’t know.
00:31:09.000 –> 00:31:16.000
The other thing you could do if you do have a waterproof phone, you could just get a case for it and use your phone.
00:31:16.000 –> 00:31:21.000
But GoPro is actually really good. What are they on the GoPro 11 now?
00:31:21.000 –> 00:31:25.000
GoPros are one of those things you can find them used online pretty cheap.
00:31:25.000 –> 00:31:28.000
People get them, use them a few times and they get rid of them.
00:31:28.000 –> 00:31:32.000
That might be something you might want to look into is a used one maybe.
00:31:32.000 –> 00:31:37.000
I’m usually not a huge one for used hardware but in that case a lot of times people get them
00:31:37.000 –> 00:31:40.000
and then they end up in a draw and then they end up just trying to sell them.
00:31:40.000 –> 00:31:45.000
Somebody asked me, saw your recent tattoo. I really liked it.
00:31:45.000 –> 00:31:48.000
I’m looking to get my HAM license. What should I do?
00:31:48.000 –> 00:31:52.000
You can go on Amazon or any bookstore and get…
00:31:52.000 –> 00:31:58.000
You have to pass your technical exam then your general exam and that should be more than enough.
00:31:58.000 –> 00:32:02.000
If you want your extra, I don’t have my extra. I’m just a general.
00:32:02.000 –> 00:32:08.000
But you can go find… They have books out there with test questions and stuff like that.
00:32:08.000 –> 00:32:12.000
There’s no code anymore. No Morse code or anything like that built in anymore.
00:32:12.000 –> 00:32:15.000
So I mean you just need to know the answers to the questions.
00:32:15.000 –> 00:32:20.000
Most of it is just rules. It’s not really too much operational stuff.
00:32:20.000 –> 00:32:23.000
It’s just rules so you know how to conduct yourself online.
00:32:23.000 –> 00:32:27.000
Most of the tech in the general are pretty easy to do.
00:32:27.000 –> 00:32:33.000
Definitely study but yeah the extra is where things get a little more technical.
00:32:33.000 –> 00:32:37.000
But yeah you can get any books online. They have test prep stuff.
00:32:37.000 –> 00:32:40.000
You can buy them at ARL.com.
00:32:40.000 –> 00:32:45.000
They have actually test prep books. You can just read through the questions and then go take the tests.
00:32:45.000 –> 00:32:48.000
They’ve got all that kind of stuff.
00:32:48.000 –> 00:32:53.000
Like I said you can find it on Amazon or just go to ARL.net and it’s all up there.
00:32:53.000 –> 00:32:58.000
They have a good thing. And you’ll actually take your test with a local ham club or something like that.
00:32:58.000 –> 00:33:02.000
It actually is pretty cool man. It’s not hard to get anymore.
00:33:02.000 –> 00:33:07.000
Years ago it used to be a lot more complicated but they’ve really made it a lot simpler now.
00:33:07.000 –> 00:33:13.000
So you know you want the hobby to stay around so you got to kind of make things a little bit easier.
00:33:13.000 –> 00:33:16.000
I want to thank you guys for waking up with me this morning.
00:33:16.000 –> 00:33:19.000
Well I can’t… You didn’t wake up with me because I didn’t get on until noon.
00:33:19.000 –> 00:33:25.000
Yeah you did some really great closure for a show that came out in the afternoon today.
00:33:25.000 –> 00:33:28.000
I’m too used to being the morning man. What can I say?
00:33:28.000 –> 00:33:32.000
I want to thank you guys anyway for hanging out with me. Listening with me.
00:33:32.000 –> 00:33:37.000
We’re going to close it out with a band that actually has new music coming out.
00:33:37.000 –> 00:33:39.000
I believe it’s this week.
00:33:39.000 –> 00:33:43.000
It’s Cedar. Careless Whisper. One of my favorites by them.
00:33:43.000 –> 00:33:46.000
Like I said thank you very much for listening guys.
00:33:46.000 –> 00:33:51.000
