00:28-00:34
Alright, welcome to the Saturday Shit Show.

00:36-00:44
I am your host, Brandon, and I will be hanging out with you for the next couple of hours.

00:44-00:50
We will be chatting about tons of things going on.

00:50-00:56
Obviously, this is a politics-free zone.

00:56-00:58
We’ll try not to get an ending of that.

00:58-01:00
A lot to talk about.

01:00-01:02
We’re going to have a lot of fun.

01:02-01:16
But first, let’s kick it off with a new song by Linkin Park just released this past week up from the bottom here on the Saturday Shit Show on Helix Rock Radio.

01:16-01:23
Papa Roach, even if it kills me, we got a lot of new songs to play for you.

01:23-01:27
Disturbs coming up here in a few minutes.

01:27-01:33
But, so, let’s talk about a couple things, folks.

01:33-01:39
First of all, there is no call-in line today.

01:39-01:54
So if you want to go ahead and send me your song request, you’re going to have to do it via old school email at brandon@rockradio.live.

01:54-01:58
You’re going to be wondering why. Why can’t I call in?

01:58-02:00
Well, it’s very simple.

02:00-02:11
See, we use Skype here at the station for you guys to call in to the show or to text the show your request.

02:11-02:17
We can’t do that because Skype is shutting down and we’re losing the phone number.

02:17-02:23
So we are, by the way, you’re saying Skype? What? That’s still around?

02:23-02:29
Yes, it is. So we have to find another way.

02:29-02:34
What we are thinking is possibly doing Zoom.

02:34-02:39
Zoom has like a whole room thing.

02:39-02:50
I think it was Twitter or one of those tech radio shows was actually using it and it would be like show.whatever.com.

02:50-02:54
And people will go to it. You can listen to the show through there.

02:54-02:58
All that kind of stuff. You could send messages to the DJ stuff like that.

02:58-03:03
We’re also possibly looking at a way to do it through our website.

03:03-03:08
We are working on all of that right now, folks, and we’re going to get it done.

03:08-03:13
But unfortunately, I don’t have a number for you to text at this is the correct moment.

03:13-03:15
So we are working on that.

03:15-03:20
Yes, Skype is still around. A lot of people have said Skype, that’s still a thing.

03:20-03:28
Generally, when people say that, that means they either haven’t been using it or don’t know about it or anything like that.

03:28-03:35
Skype has been on the decline for quite some time. Microsoft teams and all that have taken over that.

03:35-03:44
But a lot of people, stations like us, smaller station, other companies I know and stuff have actually been using it.

03:44-03:51
So it’s according to Skype’s website, it has 200 million active users.

03:51-03:54
I don’t know if I really buy that.

03:54-04:01
But apparently, you know, that’s why we don’t have a call in line right now at the moment.

04:01-04:07
But we are looking at something, maybe have a request thing or possibly the zoom thing.

04:07-04:13
We are working on it. We are hoping to have something figured out here by the next show or two.

04:13-04:21
It’s been kind of crazy. I have been shuffled all over the time slots.

04:21-04:27
So much going on. I’m thinking Saturday nights is where we’re going to leave me for now.

04:27-04:29
But we will see.

04:29-04:39
So right now, though, folks, we are live on Saturday nights for as far as I know, as far as the foreseeable future.

04:39-04:45
So Saturday night, you’re going to get your dose of a rock radio.

04:45-04:56
Speaking of another legend, not that he needs my corrosion, but surprisingly enough, when I was looking into time slots and what would work for this show,

04:56-05:02
we were doing Saturday mornings for a while, then we were doing Sunday mornings for a while.

05:02-05:09
Surprisingly enough, Saturday night is actually a big night for radio listening that kind of surprised me.

05:09-05:12
I was like, well, what day would work better for us?

05:12-05:19
And all of a sudden I’m looking, I’m like, wow, Saturday night is a big night for radio listening.

05:19-05:25
I was kind of shocked. Maybe people are out maybe because of the bars. Who knows?

05:25-05:28
But it’s a big night for music Saturday.

05:28-05:33
So that is good. So hopefully you enjoy the time slot.

05:33-05:41
If not, you know, this show is always available on the replay on Thursday night.

05:41-05:49
And we are, you know, on demand on any replays where fine podcasts are available.

05:49-05:56
So like I said, we got more talk about tons to get about, you know, here on Saturday night.

05:56-06:04
I am your host Brandon, and we are going to keep the music rolling with I Will Not Break by Disturbed.

06:04-06:11
And that, of course, like I said, we have New Lincoln Park, a whole bunch of new things to play for you.

06:11-06:14
I do apologize, folks. We were having some technical issues.

06:14-06:17
That’s why we were playing some music, quite a bit of music actually.

06:17-06:20
Again, it is the shit show, right?

06:20-06:33
So some celebrity news this week. Megan Fox welcomed baby number four with, I guess, you know, they’re not together.

06:33-06:36
They’re broken up or estranged or whatever.

06:36-06:42
But she welcomed baby number four with machine gun Kelly.

06:42-06:45
So that was in the news.

06:45-06:51
Also, while we were off last week, George Foreman dies at 76, man.

06:51-06:55
That’s a shame and a legendary boxer.

06:55-06:58
You know, just ashamed to see him die so young.

06:58-07:00
I mean, the guy really was marketable.

07:00-07:02
He had the Foreman grill.

07:02-07:04
He had the clothing line.

07:04-07:07
He had so much stuff.

07:07-07:12
He really, he was so marketable and he really was seemed like really nice guy.

07:12-07:22
I remember as a kid seeing him on shows like Home Improvement and all those really late early mid to late 90s sitcoms,

07:22-07:24
this is something he would do.

07:24-07:27
They should the story of his life come out not too long ago.

07:27-07:30
I think last year or the year before, I think it was on Netflix.

07:30-07:38
But, you know, he’s really was a boxing legend right up there, of course, with somebody like Mike Tyson.

07:38-07:42
So it was sad to see that 76.

07:42-07:47
He is a very interesting person, too, in the sense that he has, I think all his kids are named George.

07:47-07:51
I think he’s got George, George one, George two, George three.

07:51-07:56
And he just kind of went down the line with the George’s.

07:56-07:58
But good for him, man.

07:58-08:03
Like I said, I do feel bad, you know, 76, but good for him.

08:03-08:11
He had a great life, great career, and what a wonderful, you know, expiring story.

08:11-08:12
Like I said, you can watch it.

08:12-08:14
I think it’s on Netflix right now.

08:14-08:16
I think it’s Netflix or Max.

08:16-08:27
You know, what an amazing story and just kind of how after boxing, he was running out of money and he needs somebody pitched his idea for grills.

08:27-08:29
And it kind of just took off for him.

08:29-08:32
So good, like I said, good for, you know, good for him and his family.

08:32-08:34
They’ll still give him those royalties and stuff.

08:34-08:43
But it’s a fortunate to see him pass away at, you know, 76, truly a boxing legend there.

08:43-08:52
Also, too, I wanted to point out as well that 23 and me has been in the news going bankrupt.

08:52-08:58
If any of you guys have a 23 and me account, you know, because they are.

08:58-08:59
Going bankrupt.

08:59-09:02
So their stuff’s going to be auctioned off.

09:02-09:12
You know, if you don’t want your, you know, you can go in there and can go ahead and delete your ancestry information.

09:12-09:17
You know, while before, you know, it gets sold, you might not have access to it.

09:17-09:19
But a lot of people are saying do that.

09:19-09:23
Some people are saying don’t because you won’t be able to get it again.

09:23-09:31
There is a mixed, really kind of mixed feelings on what they should do, what that’s going to happen with that.

09:31-09:44
I’m always afraid that an insurance company or something is going to buy that say, hey, we’re not covering you because your 23 and me test shows you have a preexisting, you know, this gene or whatever.

09:44-09:45
Call me.

09:45-09:54
I’m not trying to be conspiracy theory guy, but that is something that has always concerned me about those genetic texts.

09:54-10:02
You know, it’s great that we get that information so that we can kind of keep an eye on things.

10:02-10:11
If you know you have a gene that you’re, you know, you know, susceptible to breast cancer or anything like that, you can keep a very close eye on that.

10:11-10:15
I do think all that is fantastic about 23 and me.

10:15-10:24
But now that they’re up for bankruptcy, I’m worried about who’s going to get them and kind of what they’re going to do with that data.

10:24-10:32
So again, maybe it’s just me being paranoid, but it always concerns me those those kinds of things.

10:32-10:54
It just like I said, you know, like I said, I think it’s great, you know, and they’ve used, I know they use the 23 and me database and stuff of that to recently to find some crimes out and so that that was on a Netflix documentary saying that you can they you they actually do run DNA against that

10:54-11:05
database to see if they can find people, you know, that had had to have done, you know, things wrong in the past to try to, you know, get these cold cases solved.

11:05-11:07
And that’s, you know, that’s fine.

11:07-11:16
But, you know, I also worry about what else is it being used for that maybe isn’t good like trying to solve cold cases.

11:16-11:22
You got to worry about stuff like that in in this day and age, you know.

11:22-11:26
And they’re going to kick it off now with another great man.

11:26-11:29
Pop Evil wishful thinking.

11:29-11:36
Do you have a collection of articles from the Internet that you want to read, but don’t have time to dive into at the moment?

11:36-11:41
Listen later.net has a new way to handle that problem with podcasting.

11:41-11:45
Listen later.net turns articles into episodes of a podcast.

11:45-11:50

They’re really excellent narrators and you can choose from numerous voice options.

12:12-12:18
You can also have listen later auto translate articles and other languages into your chosen language.

12:31-12:39
Again, that’s listen later.net and sign up and get 20% extra credits by mentioning Helix Rock radio.

12:39-12:45
All right. That was static sleep by sleep theory. Of course, static.

12:45-12:48
We got a we got a new one by Cedar.

12:48-12:54
We’re going to play next for you as well as bad omen and Ozzie lined up for you.

12:54-12:58
But I want to talk about the WWE Hall of Fame this year.

12:58-13:03
Let’s I mean triple H going in definitely a big name.

13:03-13:07
Michelle McCool going in big name.

13:07-13:11
I think Lex Luger going in is way overdue and a big name.

13:11-13:18
But the one that I have to say I’m really cool to see natural disasters go in.

13:18-13:25
Earthquake was I mean really had a huge storyline back in the day with with Hulk Hogan.

13:25-13:32
And of course tugboat, you know, Typhoon, shockmaster.

13:32-13:35
He’s had a couple different characters over the year.

13:35-13:41
But now the reason why I’m bringing this up is they are now inducting matches.

13:41-13:56
So it’s going to be Steve Austin and Brent Hart’s match from WrestleMania 13 is going in as an immortal moment.

13:56-14:07
I think the Hall of Fame is getting a little desperate if they’re inducting moments now.

14:07-14:09
You know, you don’t see UFC.

14:09-14:14
I really don’t think this is a lot of people said well this is endeavor or whatever.

14:14-14:22
I really don’t think so because UFC doesn’t do stuff like this.

14:22-14:28
I’m kind of curious as why WWE is starting to induct matches now.

14:28-14:34
It just seems a little weird little maybe I don’t know something that I don’t know they need filler.

14:34-14:35
I don’t know.

14:35-14:38
You remember for a while they were inducting celebrities every year.

14:38-14:44
Celebrities that have been involved with WWE and now and then they stopped that like this year.

14:44-14:51
I don’t think they’re doing any celebrity and I mean we still have a couple weeks left but it’s just a really weird.

14:51-14:52
situation.

14:52-14:55
I understand tag teams.

14:55-14:58
I understand singles guys.

14:58-15:05
I understand people that are in multiple times like Booger T is in there for his solo work as well as tag team work.

15:05-15:10
You have people that have been in there with like Rick Flair is in there with four horsemen.

15:10-15:15
He’s in there with we will be in there eventually with evolution.

15:15-15:18
You know he’s been around you know around a long time with stuff.

15:18-15:38
But this whole thing of inducting matches now I just think this is I mean I get it but it’s also one of those things where okay maybe WWE is getting a little desperate for content or you know every year at the at the Hall of Fame.

15:38-15:52
Also to I do think last couple of years the Hall of Fame has been a little bit a little bit soft compared to years prior now I know you can induct a Hulk Hogan or Steve Austin every year.

15:52-16:00
But I do think that it’s definitely not you know not the spectacle it was a couple years ago.

16:00-16:08
And again you can only induct so many big names so kicking it off now it’s Cedar Walls come down.

16:08-16:16
All right Ozzy Osbourne shot in the dark just kind of picking up the tempo a little bit now.

16:16-16:24
So a couple of things I wanted to talk about as far as picking up the tempo goes Metallica.

16:24-16:36
If you have an Apple Vision Pro Metallica had an immersive well so a lot the marketing on this and the advertisement on this wasn’t so great.

16:36-16:46
Apparently they are like oh come watch the metallic concert immersive in Apple’s you know immersive video style.

16:46-16:55
It wasn’t really immersive it was like a few songs it was three songs that was actually immersive.

16:55-17:03
So people thought they were going to see an entire concert in immersive and no you only got you know three songs.

17:03-17:12
So a bunch of people annoyed upset a little peoed but if you haven’t you got to watch three songs in it.

17:12-17:21
This whole I don’t I don’t care what Apple is saying they are definitely not making a ton of money on this headset.

17:21-17:34
You just can’t the price points too high there’s not enough content there only I believe at this point I believe they’re doing daily videos now on it stuff like that.

17:34-17:42
You just can’t compete when you got people like Meta for 300 bucks and you can watch court side the NBA.

17:42-17:45
It’s just got a lot you know a lot to be desired.

17:45-17:57
Also to talking about tech this week and a try to watch major league baseball on MLB dot com apparently they had some issues.

17:57-18:09
Like I said you know these kind of things happen but opening day I think they a lot of people are complaining that things weren’t working and it happens opening day baseball is big almost every team’s playing.

18:09-18:11
Everybody wants to watch their team.

18:11-18:21
It’s just one of those kinds of days where everybody is trying to watch so they had some issues they will get through it.

18:21-18:34
By the way though the other thing somebody had handed me which I forgot talking about Apple Apple is a poorly losing a billion dollars per year with Apple TV.

18:34-18:47
Now Apple TV is is a different business model than a lot of other places in the sense of Apple doesn’t really license any content all their content is you know original.

18:47-18:51
They put a credible amount of production value into it.

18:51-18:58
The people that work on Apple projects say Apple spares no expense even on the way they handle their staff and stuff like that.

18:58-19:04
So a lot of people saying how is Apple TV going to go away if they’re losing a billion dollars.

19:04-19:07
I don’t think so and here’s why.

19:07-19:12
Apple’s Apple isn’t just one product or service.

19:12-19:15
Apple is about their ecosystem.

19:15-19:25
And you know if Apple can can get people to get anything else in their ecosystem they’re going to keep doing it.

19:25-19:34
They don’t have to make money on Apple TV because they’re making money on the phones on the laptops on the headphones on everything.

19:34-19:37
So it’s a little bit different of a business model.

19:37-19:43
I just watched the Gorge on there my wife a couple weeks ago that was really good.

19:43-19:50
I know there’s a bunch of other shows that my wife like Severance I think for all mankind is great on there.

19:50-19:52
My friend watches it.

19:52-19:54
I’m starting to get into it as well.

19:54-20:12
There’s just you know it’s one of those services that has you know they make their own content and they’re going to have their hits and Apple is going to keep going with it because their hope is OK maybe we’re losing money on Apple TV Plus but maybe people will get the bundle deal.

20:12-20:16
And it’ll get Apple music with it and Apple Arcade.

20:16-20:18
Same thing with Apple Arcade.

20:18-20:22
Apple reportedly says they lose money on Apple Arcade yet they keep it going.

20:22-20:31
Well yeah because the truth is you know if people get arcade maybe they’ll get a bundle with it so that they get other services.

20:31-20:34
So it’s a it’s a different business model.

20:34-20:35
Same thing with Amazon.

20:35-20:40
They say they’re not making money on on that on you know really on any of the television stuff.

20:40-20:43
But they don’t have to because they’re selling you the TV.

20:43-20:47
They’re selling you all this other stuff off their website.

20:47-20:51
So it’s you know it’s a tool for them to to make more money.

20:51-21:09
Also one other thing I wanted to bring up to not really will affect our show but Apple announced that their AirPod Max if you buy the special wire now you can listen to the Air Pods Max with lossless audio.

21:09-21:17
If you like music and CD quality you can go ahead and buy that wire and listen to it now on the Air Pods Max.

21:17-21:34
I listen really well I listen to our radio but if I want to listen to lossless music you could if you buy the adapter the analog adapter you can use any pair of headphones like Beats or really any any headphones as long as you buy the adapter.

21:34-21:38
But this particular adapter is for Air Pods Max.

21:38-21:40
They’re like $550 headphones.

21:40-21:47
People have been really upset that they couldn’t listen to loss you know lossless audio when you buy Apple’s premium headset.

21:47-21:50
So but you could do it on Beats.

21:50-21:54
So you know but Apple got that all straight away.

21:54-21:56
A lot of people were really thrilled about that.

21:56-22:00
We got a lot of people even at the station were like you know here talking about it.

22:00-22:07
I really am kind of excited as somebody who’s a music person and a radio DJ.

22:07-22:11
A lot of people really like lossless audio CD.

22:11-22:14
They like the vinyl and stuff like that.

22:14-22:18
People while the MP3 may have changed the industry.

22:18-22:23
A lot of audio files really care about that lossless quality.

22:23-22:27
So it’s good to see quality matters in music.

22:27-22:31
Hick it off now Corey Taylor and Apocalyptica.

22:31-22:35
Right Rev the Fury the Fire.

22:35-22:37
They are such a great band.

22:37-22:40
They’ve been around for quite a while now.

22:40-22:43
They just I don’t know I just love their sound.

22:43-22:45
It’s it’s really cool.

22:45-22:49
We got some others another bunch of popular songs to play.

22:49-22:52
Couple of people did email me.

22:52-22:58
Somebody requested they wanted to hear Creed so I will throw that in the mix.

22:58-23:02
Somebody said they’re a panhead which means they’re a skillet fan.

23:02-23:07
We will work on getting all that stuff in the mix here in a few minutes.

23:07-23:14
By the way folks would like to talk about something that I thought was was rather interesting.

23:14-23:19
Somebody had said to me three email.

23:19-23:26
I’m currently on American Idol which I do not watch but the clip went kind of viral.

23:26-23:33
A young guy 16 years old came in playing he sang a corn song.

23:33-23:42
That was kind of kind of the song he auditioned with and I guess Lionel and.

23:42-23:47
Carrie was big on him Lionel was not too sure and neither was Luke Bryan.

23:47-23:59
So they had him sing another song which was bodies by drowning pool and apparently Carrie Underwood’s like yeah that was high school for me.

23:59-24:03
I remember those songs so she was pretty cool with everything stuff like that.

24:03-24:11
But like I said they were you know not sure about him but like I said they they put him through.

24:11-24:15
Lionel had like the best comment of all of them.

24:15-24:22
He’s like I’m trying to figure out how we are going to fit you in with the Disney night.

24:22-24:27
I think I said it was cool to see somebody come on there.

24:27-24:30
Rockers usually don’t do well on that show.

24:30-24:36
Daughtry did but his song choices were very well handpicked and stuff like that.

24:36-24:44
Usually like I said rockers don’t but like I said it was good to see somebody who’s a rock rocker kind of get through.

24:44-24:52
So like I said somebody had sent me that you can look the clip up online just like a corn or a drowning pool.

24:52-24:56
American Idol and it comes right up on YouTube.

24:56-24:59
Kigarovna skillet Awake Alive.

24:59-25:03
See that is a great song by saliva.

25:03-25:05
One of my favorites from them.

25:05-25:07
They have a lot of different hits too.

25:07-25:15
A lot of people forget they worked on Hero with Chad Kruger and stuff and Theory of a Dead Man worked with them as well.

25:15-25:19
Along with Chad Kruger for Hero by Spider-Man.

25:19-25:24
Of course the original Spider-Man we all remember with Toby McGuire.

25:24-25:29
So I got an email again brandon@rockradio.live.

25:29-25:30
We don’t have a phone number right now.

25:30-25:33
I explained at the beginning of the show. We’re working on it.

25:33-25:36
Actually I think we may actually go to Zoom’s thing.

25:36-25:38
I’m waiting to find out.

25:38-25:45
But somebody wanted to hear corn so and actually the person that requested it was my wife.

25:45-25:48
She’s actually at work and she’s like I want to hear corn now.

25:48-25:52
So did anybody catch the TNA?

25:52-25:57
I guess is it really a pay preview if it’s just on their app?

25:57-25:59
I don’t know.

25:59-26:03
But it was definitely a good pay preview.

26:03-26:08
They had a 10 man cage match which I thought was very good.

26:08-26:13
And then of course they had the ladder match for the X division title.

26:13-26:18
Jeff Hardy and Moose definitely tore the house down by the way.

26:18-26:20
But the reason why I’m bringing up TNA.

26:20-26:23
First of all there’s a big buzz about it.

26:23-26:26
Obviously you’re going to have the Hardy boys are over there right now.

26:26-26:30
And they’re going to be taking on of course the Namath brothers.

26:30-26:34
Which of course is Nick Namath, Dolph Ziggler and his brother.

26:34-26:45
But the kind of the big moment for me this past week on Impact was the return of Ultimate X.

26:45-26:51
Apparently at the pay preview Moose is going to have to defend his title in an Ultimate X match.

26:51-26:58
Which is the first time we’ve seen Ultimate X in I think they said six or seven years.

26:58-27:02
So it’s a great time to be a TNA wrestling fan.

27:02-27:04
Obviously a good time to be a WWE fan too.

27:04-27:07
But TNA especially man.

27:07-27:14
The things they’re doing right now, Centino Morella and a bunch of those people in the back that are doing the booking.

27:14-27:25
It really feels like there’s a real buzz around the company and it really really feels like the company’s kind of coming back.

27:25-27:31
You know they had, I mean in any business there’s you have ups and downs, highs and lows.

27:31-27:34
But TNA is definitely heating up right now.

27:34-27:36
They’re not a huge promotion.

27:36-27:38
They don’t have a ton of money.

27:38-27:43
But the money they do have they are doing a freaking great job right now over there.

27:43-27:49
And I really, I don’t really say this much but there’s not.

27:49-27:53
I mean if I don’t miss Raw or if I miss SmackDown it’s like whatever.

27:53-27:57
I do try to watch AEW but I don’t have the time all the time.

27:57-28:05
But Impact is something I’m trying to watch because TNA is really in that kind of that.

28:05-28:08
There’s a buzz about it right now you know.

28:08-28:10
It’s just the way it is.

28:10-28:15
So good for them and if you are a wrestling fan and you want to see great wrestling watch TNA.

28:15-28:20
You can watch Impact live if you don’t get access channel for $1.99 a month.

28:20-28:23
I mean that’s not bad at all just to watch Impact.

28:23-28:33
And if you do want to support the company and want to watch they do have the TNA app which they’re always having sales on to get people on it.

28:33-28:40
It’s a wrestling company right now that understands the internet.

28:40-28:50
By the way speaking of internet shows we are currently on my wife and I are watching the Daredevil born again.

28:50-28:52
It’s been very good.

28:52-28:55
Hopefully it’s going to get better.

28:55-28:58
It’s kind of in story making mode right now.

28:58-29:03
It started really big and now it’s kind of rebuilding.

29:03-29:07
So it’ll be a great show.

29:07-29:10
One thing if you forgot.

29:10-29:19
Fuel wrote the theme song for the Daredevil that was with Ben Affleck.

29:19-29:22
This is back before the Marvel craze and all that kind of stuff.

29:22-29:24
It was a good song.

29:24-29:27
Like I said the movie itself didn’t do too well.

29:27-29:31
I liked it but a lot of people didn’t.

29:31-29:37
Of course that’s how Ben Affleck met his wife and the mother of his children.

29:37-29:43
Jennifer Gardner she was Electra who was also as you know in the Deadpool movie.

29:43-29:52
So spoiler there if you’re listening and you haven’t seen a Marvel movie in about two or three decades.

29:52-29:54
It’s a pretty good song.

29:54-29:56
I like this by Fuel won’t back down.

29:56-29:58
Right that was Nickelback.

29:58-30:06
I am going to be heading out here in a minute but I’m going to leave you with somebody that somebody requested.

30:06-30:10
Somebody wanted to hear her name.

30:10-30:13
Forgive me I can’t pronounce your name.

30:13-30:17
I apologize but you want to just hear Flyleaf so we’re going to play I’m So Sick.

30:17-30:19
That’s going to close us out.

30:19-30:26
Like I said folks you can catch me here every Saturday night hanging out with you guys playing music.

30:26-30:33
I’m also like I said we have the replay on Sunday morning and Thursday afternoon.

30:33-30:39
I want to thank you guys for hanging out with me and I am leaving you with Flyleaf.

30:39-30:40
