00:00:12.000 –> 00:00:24.000
Welcome to the Saturday morning shit show. I am your host Brandon and we will be hanging out with you for the next couple of hours.
00:00:24.000 –> 00:00:35.000
Appreciate you waking up with me today. We do this every Saturday morning and if you don’t hear us again Saturday morning we are being replayed in the afternoon on Mondays.
00:00:35.000 –> 00:00:40.000
We were looking for a show and the replay is Monday afternoon but we’re always live Saturday morning.
00:00:40.000 –> 00:00:48.000
And also too we are in podcast format. You can find it on the station at rockradio.live.
00:00:48.000 –> 00:00:55.000
And like I said, appreciate you guys waking up with us. A lot of stuff going on in the news today.
00:00:55.000 –> 00:00:58.000
Geez, don’t even know where to start. Tons of stuff to talk about.
00:00:58.000 –> 00:01:08.000
But I guess the big news in wrestling anyway. Rhea Ripley coming back to WWE.
00:01:08.000 –> 00:01:16.000
The whole thing with her and Dom is definitely heating up. Liv Morgan definitely building to SummerSlam.
00:01:16.000 –> 00:01:20.000
They have a match set up. I’m seriously personally looking forward to it.
00:01:20.000 –> 00:01:26.000
That’s been a great build up. She definitely is the biggest star right now.
00:01:26.000 –> 00:01:35.000
I think definitely in the women’s division but I think in general the biggest star overall in WWE right now.
00:01:35.000 –> 00:01:42.000
I really love the comparisons between when Eddie. They said people have been saying this is a recycled storyline.
00:01:42.000 –> 00:01:51.000
The fact that if you guys remember a bunch of years ago there was the whole Eddie Guerrero China thing where Eddie.
00:01:51.000 –> 00:01:58.000
Oh mommy mommy. Now it’s the whole Dominik Mysterio and her. The whole mommy thing and all that.
00:01:58.000 –> 00:02:03.000
The whole thing. I mean they’re all recycled storylines but I think it’s pretty cool.
00:02:03.000 –> 00:02:07.000
I am definitely looking forward to WWE SummerSlam.
00:02:07.000 –> 00:02:17.000
So that’s the big match for me. We obviously. CM Punk and Drew McIntyre I think is going to be.
00:02:17.000 –> 00:02:25.000
I think definitely a big match. I mean the build up to this has been since WrestleMania and even before then.
00:02:25.000 –> 00:02:30.000
The Royal Rumble actually when Punk got hurt. So this has been a huge build up to that as well.
00:02:30.000 –> 00:02:44.000
But it all depends on if Punk is going to be healthy enough to wrestle. He’s still dealing with that arm issue.
00:02:44.000 –> 00:02:53.000
So we will have to see about that. I definitely think the Gunther thing. I’m looking forward to that.
00:02:53.000 –> 00:03:05.000
But I don’t know. I think Gunther vs Cody would have been bigger personally for me because I like Gunther and I like Cody.
00:03:05.000 –> 00:03:13.000
I think. I’m not sure. I really don’t care too much about the Cody Rose/Sakoa thing. I really don’t.
00:03:13.000 –> 00:03:18.000
I’m actually curious Damian Priest and Gunther. I’ll be curious. I’m actually. We’ll be curious for that.
00:03:18.000 –> 00:03:26.000
But I think. I don’t want to say damages Gunther. But I think definitely him vs Cody would have been better.
00:03:26.000 –> 00:03:30.000
But the problem is I don’t think they want to take the belt off Cody. So they’re going to do that.
00:03:30.000 –> 00:03:36.000
Not really overly thrilled for Bayley/Nia Jax. I don’t really care for either one of them.
00:03:36.000 –> 00:03:39.000
They’re not bad wrestlers. I just don’t particularly. I’m just not a fan of them.
00:03:39.000 –> 00:03:48.000
And then obviously Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley. And then no word yet on the Punk thing yet. We’ll have to wait and see.
00:03:48.000 –> 00:03:53.000
Punk and Drew could be big. But there hasn’t. It still depends on if Punk’s healthy enough.
00:03:53.000 –> 00:03:58.000
So we’ll have to wait and see. But that is. We got a little time for that.
00:03:58.000 –> 00:04:04.000
This weekend obviously. Oh and I’m sorry. I didn’t realize this. I do apologize.
00:04:04.000 –> 00:04:14.000
Two night SummerSlam. Oh it won’t kick off until 2026. So in 2026 SummerSlam is going to start being two nights.
00:04:14.000 –> 00:04:20.000
But that won’t be until 2026. It’s still going to be just one night. WWE is going to start doing two nights.
00:04:20.000 –> 00:04:28.000
I’m curious to see what’s going to happen as well with Logan Paul. That could be potentially be a big match as well.
00:04:28.000 –> 00:04:34.000
We’ll have to see what happens with that. There’s a lot of really good matches on the card.
00:04:34.000 –> 00:04:39.000
SummerSlam has always been an A-list. Because I don’t know if you guys know this.
00:04:39.000 –> 00:04:45.000
But WWE has always had what they call A-list and B-list style pay per views.
00:04:45.000 –> 00:04:50.000
Where SummerSlam, WrestleMania, Royal Rumble. Those are good Survivor Series.
00:04:50.000 –> 00:04:55.000
They’re their A-list pay per views. And then stuff like Fastlane. Things like that. Sort of B-list pay per views.
00:04:55.000 –> 00:05:01.000
So I thought that was interesting. I didn’t know that either. I heard that from watching Sam Roberts over on Sirius XM.
00:05:01.000 –> 00:05:06.000
I like his podcast and I’ve actually followed him a little bit. And he was talking about that. I’m like, I did not know that.
00:05:06.000 –> 00:05:13.000
They have A-list and B-list style pay per views. So like I said, that’s good.
00:05:13.000 –> 00:05:19.000
This weekend obviously the big thing for me anyway is going to be the pay per view slamiversary in TNA.
00:05:19.000 –> 00:05:24.000
I know a lot of you guys are saying, you know, I know a lot of people said, “Really? You’re really excited about that?”
00:05:24.000 –> 00:05:41.000
In Quebec? But I actually am curious to watch that. I am curious about the six-way match between Moose, Steve McMillan, Josh Alexander, Nick Namath, Joe Henry.
00:05:41.000 –> 00:05:45.000
Now Joe Henry’s been showing up in NXT. So we’ll have to see what happens there.
00:05:45.000 –> 00:05:54.000
But here’s the new crossover. Jornie Grace obviously wrestling, Ash, B-Elegance. Those are the two big ones from…
00:05:54.000 –> 00:06:00.000
Actually, no, I’m not going to lie. The Alyssa Edwards and Tag Team match I’m actually looking forward to.
00:06:00.000 –> 00:06:06.000
I really like the system. I really enjoy TNA. I think they put on a lot of good matches.
00:06:06.000 –> 00:06:11.000
I think they are incredibly underrated. But I am actually looking forward to their pay per view this weekend.
00:06:11.000 –> 00:06:17.000
Not all of them, but there’s at least three good matches out of the six that I personally would like to watch.
00:06:17.000 –> 00:06:29.000
So, big weekend for wrestling. And then obviously coming up, not this week, but actually next weekend, I mean, coming up, the Olympics kickoff.
00:06:29.000 –> 00:06:34.000
I’m not a huge Olympics fan, but I think there’s definitely a lot of people that are.
00:06:34.000 –> 00:06:37.000
And I know a lot of people that are actually going over there for the Olympics.
00:06:37.000 –> 00:06:43.000
Speaking of the Olympics, one thing I’ve been following is Fubu TV.
00:06:43.000 –> 00:06:50.000
They’re actually an online streaming service like YouTube TV, but they’re sports first.
00:06:50.000 –> 00:06:56.000
The stock doesn’t do all that well on the stock market. I actually looked it up before.
00:06:56.000 –> 00:07:05.000
A buck 98. But it’s going up. I’m not a stockbroker. I am not somebody you should not take financial advice from.
00:07:05.000 –> 00:07:10.000
But I don’t know. I’ve actually been keeping an eye on their stock because it’s been going up.
00:07:10.000 –> 00:07:17.000
They did sign a deal with CBC to provide Olympic coverage.
00:07:17.000 –> 00:07:22.000
They also signed a deal with NBC Universal.
00:07:22.000 –> 00:07:33.000
You know, they’re slowly becoming a big part of the live streaming as cable goes online.
00:07:33.000 –> 00:07:41.000
But I think, you know, they keep the clear. They said they hope to reach profitability by 2026, according to their stock owners.
00:07:41.000 –> 00:07:45.000
They’re still losing quite a bit of money. So we’ll have to wait and see.
00:07:45.000 –> 00:07:50.000
It’s a little tough with these startups sometimes. They, you know, they lose money for so many years and they have so long.
00:07:50.000 –> 00:07:57.000
They have to turn profitability. It’s a very tough thing, but I’m keeping an eye on them.
00:07:57.000 –> 00:08:01.000
I think they’re, like I said, really company that that may go somewhere.
00:08:01.000 –> 00:08:05.000
We’ll have to wait and see. It’s going to be tough to compete with YouTube TV.
00:08:05.000 –> 00:08:10.000
Think about big YouTube TV is and they still only have like nine million subscribers, which is huge.
00:08:10.000 –> 00:08:14.000
But they also have the NFL ticket and stuff like that football starting back up soon.
00:08:14.000 –> 00:08:18.000
I’m not a huge sports guy, as you all know that. Listen, but I like wrestling.
00:08:18.000 –> 00:08:24.000
I like UFC boxing, stuff like that. But we’ll have to see. See what happens with them.
00:08:24.000 –> 00:08:26.000
They’re definitely a start up to watch.
00:08:26.000 –> 00:08:36.000
Like I said, I won one company that if that definitely is is definitely this week has been in the news is, of course, Kaspersky.
00:08:36.000 –> 00:08:42.000
Obviously, they are banned from selling over here to the Biden’s ban.
00:08:42.000 –> 00:08:48.000
I’m curious to see the news on TikTok has calmed down over the last couple of months.
00:08:48.000 –> 00:08:50.000
What they have six months to sell.
00:08:50.000 –> 00:08:56.000
But Kaspersky cuts off, I’ve been saying for quite a few years that Kaspersky shouldn’t be selling in America.
00:08:56.000 –> 00:08:59.000
They are a Russian based company.
00:08:59.000 –> 00:09:04.000
They are a company that, you know, it’s questionable.
00:09:04.000 –> 00:09:08.000
They’re there’s they’re on your machine. They’re scanning everything that you do.
00:09:08.000 –> 00:09:12.000
Same thing with panda antivirus. They needed to go there from China.
00:09:12.000 –> 00:09:14.000
They send your computer to scan everything.
00:09:14.000 –> 00:09:17.000
It’s just an American safety concern right now.
00:09:17.000 –> 00:09:20.000
And I think it should be. But they are closing their doors in the U.S..
00:09:20.000 –> 00:09:24.000
Unfortunately, due to that, they had to lay off all their American workers.
00:09:24.000 –> 00:09:28.000
It’s a shame, but it had to be done.
00:09:28.000 –> 00:09:31.000
And unfortunately, this kind of stuff does happen.
00:09:31.000 –> 00:09:37.000
But one was some good news that that did come out this week, though.
00:09:37.000 –> 00:09:46.000
We had that big conversation last week about Microsoft and them raising the price of Game Pass.
00:09:46.000 –> 00:09:54.000
Apparently, Microsoft now has announced that they are going to be, if you are in Game Pass Ultimate,
00:09:54.000 –> 00:10:02.000
they are going to be you are going to get early access to the beta of Black Ops 6.
00:10:02.000 –> 00:10:05.000
And like I said, it will be open to Game Pass members.
00:10:05.000 –> 00:10:14.000
Early access will start August 30th through September 4th and the open beta from September 6th to September 9th.
00:10:14.000 –> 00:10:21.000
You must be part of Game Pass earlier and you can pre-order and get into the early access.
00:10:21.000 –> 00:10:27.000
Like I said, that kicks off next month, so a little benefit also to you.
00:10:27.000 –> 00:10:35.000
They still are saying that apparently this will, Black Ops 6, will be the first Call of Duty game to be released
00:10:35.000 –> 00:10:40.000
Day 1 for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
00:10:40.000 –> 00:10:45.000
And of course, the now discontinued Xbox Game Pass for console if you still have it.
00:10:45.000 –> 00:10:48.000
One of the things that somebody has pointed out, by the way,
00:10:48.000 –> 00:10:54.000
and if you are somebody that bought, I don’t know if you guys remember this,
00:10:54.000 –> 00:11:01.000
but we talked about this a while back, around Christmas time, you could get three years of Game Pass for,
00:11:01.000 –> 00:11:06.000
I think it was like 150, 170 bucks. A lot of people got into that.
00:11:06.000 –> 00:11:12.000
So if you are somebody that bought two or three years of Game Pass,
00:11:12.000 –> 00:11:18.000
you’re going to be grandfathered in at your own price until your thing runs out in a couple years.
00:11:18.000 –> 00:11:23.000
So that is, you know, because you remember when Game Pass first launched,
00:11:23.000 –> 00:11:29.000
you could buy it for a couple years at a discounted rate that was, and then over Christmas, Black Friday and all that.
00:11:29.000 –> 00:11:33.000
So you’re going to be grandfathered in for a couple of years, so good for you.
00:11:33.000 –> 00:11:38.000
You know, Microsoft is going to have to honor that, and they have said they are going to honor that.
00:11:38.000 –> 00:11:44.000
So there’s going to be for a while people, you know, getting it, you know,
00:11:44.000 –> 00:11:48.000
it’s going to be a few years for that old plan that Microsoft wants to get rid of, gets rid of.
00:11:48.000 –> 00:11:53.000
Also, too, by the way, I would like to point out Call of Duty.
00:11:53.000 –> 00:11:56.000
This is the first one that’s going to be set in the Gulf War era.
00:11:56.000 –> 00:12:02.000
Twelve new six by six maps and four new strike maps at launch.
00:12:02.000 –> 00:12:09.000
So it’s going to be good. They’re even going to have a round based on zombies because that seems to be extremely popular.
00:12:09.000 –> 00:12:15.000
I don’t really play the zombie stuff too much, but I do understand the popularity of it, man.
00:12:15.000 –> 00:12:21.000
I know a lot of people that do like it. So we will play, we’ll wait and see.
00:12:21.000 –> 00:12:28.000
Another game that has seriously caught fire is a game called Body Cam.
00:12:28.000 –> 00:12:31.000
I have not played it yet. I have bought it, but I have not played it yet.
00:12:31.000 –> 00:12:34.000
It’s on sale on Steam right now for any of you guys that are listening.
00:12:34.000 –> 00:12:46.000
By the way, you can this apparently is the closest thing to basically real real life graphics.
00:12:46.000 –> 00:12:52.000
Everybody is saying the graphics on it is basically like sticking a GoPro on somebody playing paintball.
00:12:52.000 –> 00:12:58.000
The graphics are amazing on it. I have actual, like I said, been I have seen video of it.
00:12:58.000 –> 00:13:03.000
I have not played it yet, but the real life graphics are unbelievable.
00:13:03.000 –> 00:13:08.000
I’m not sure how they did it, but it looks freaking amazing.
00:13:08.000 –> 00:13:12.000
Like I said, go check it out on YouTube. If you don’t know, it’s not sure if you want to buy the game.
00:13:12.000 –> 00:13:18.000
Go on YouTube. There are a bunch of videos. I cannot believe how realistic the graphics are.
00:13:18.000 –> 00:13:20.000
Unbelievable. Freaking amazing.
00:13:20.000 –> 00:13:22.000
Talk celebrity news, shall we, folks?
00:13:22.000 –> 00:13:35.000
Those of you that I don’t know if you remember, Katie Lotz, she was the White Canary in the Arrow series.
00:13:35.000 –> 00:13:40.000
Well, she was Black Canary in Arrow and then she went on to be the White Canary in DC Legends of Tomorrow.
00:13:40.000 –> 00:13:47.000
She apparently is having a baby and she had a huge baby shower the other day.
00:13:47.000 –> 00:13:54.000
It was in page six on New York Post. Almost said New York Times.
00:13:54.000 –> 00:13:59.000
The reason why I’m bringing this up is she had a bunch of co-stars there.
00:13:59.000 –> 00:14:05.000
I remember Ruby Rose from the original first season of Batwoman was there.
00:14:05.000 –> 00:14:12.000
She had, of course, the person that played Killer Frost was there at her baby shower.
00:14:12.000 –> 00:14:20.000
Basically, like a big CW/DC reunion there. A bunch of people were there.
00:14:20.000 –> 00:14:31.000
The person that played Alan’s wife in Flash was there. A lot of big star-studded events with all these characters.
00:14:31.000 –> 00:14:38.000
It just was really cool to see them all moving on after the DC Universe/CW thing kind of ended.
00:14:38.000 –> 00:14:41.000
I loved all those shows. I was really big into all those shows.
00:14:41.000 –> 00:14:47.000
The other show that’s on Thursday night here on the network, on our station.
00:14:47.000 –> 00:14:49.000
We keep saying network, it’s a station.
00:14:49.000 –> 00:14:55.000
Grawlix. If you can look through their old episodes, you can find all different kinds of episodes of those guys.
00:14:55.000 –> 00:15:01.000
And me talking about all those DC shows. Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow.
00:15:01.000 –> 00:15:06.000
Just go through them. You can find all of it. We were all big into those shows at one point.
00:15:06.000 –> 00:15:10.000
So go ahead and check those out. But it was good to see all those people moving on.
00:15:10.000 –> 00:15:16.000
It’s hard when you’re, especially now as an actor, a lot of things have changed over the years.
00:15:16.000 –> 00:15:22.000
And it’s not as many shows as there used to be. Or the shows are on network or stuff like that.
00:15:22.000 –> 00:15:28.000
So it’s great to see those guys moving on with their lives and starting families and stuff like that.
00:15:28.000 –> 00:15:32.000
They gave us so much enjoyment for almost a decade with all those shows.
00:15:32.000 –> 00:15:35.000
And it’s great to see her, especially her, moving on.
00:15:35.000 –> 00:15:38.000
Ruby Rose was fantastic as Batwoman.
00:15:38.000 –> 00:15:41.000
And then obviously somebody else came on for two seasons.
00:15:41.000 –> 00:15:44.000
I mean honestly I enjoyed all those shows. I watched them all.
00:15:44.000 –> 00:15:47.000
Like I said, check out those guys on Grawlix.
00:15:47.000 –> 00:15:51.000
If you go to their website, I think it’s grawlixpodcast.com.
00:15:51.000 –> 00:15:54.000
And check it out. They had every episode.
00:15:54.000 –> 00:15:57.000
We would talk about that show every single week.
00:15:57.000 –> 00:16:01.000
Not me specifically every week, but those guys talk about the show every single week.
00:16:01.000 –> 00:16:05.000
I mean it was just, it was the thing to be into at that time.
00:16:05.000 –> 00:16:10.000
You have to realize too, not everybody had cable, not everybody had the internet yet.
00:16:10.000 –> 00:16:14.000
Everybody had internet, but it wasn’t streaming like it is now and stuff like that.
00:16:14.000 –> 00:16:17.000
So you had to watch those shows every single week on cable.
00:16:17.000 –> 00:16:23.000
It wasn’t that long ago. It’s scary. It wasn’t that long ago.
00:16:23.000 –> 00:16:25.000
But it was a big popular thing.
00:16:25.000 –> 00:16:29.000
So like I said, it was just kind of cool. A little nostalgia for me, even though it wasn’t that long ago.
00:16:29.000 –> 00:16:33.000
Remembering all those good memories and stuff from those shows.
00:16:33.000 –> 00:16:39.000
So Prime, Amazon Prime Day was this week, if you guys remember that.
00:16:39.000 –> 00:16:41.000
I’m not sure if any of you guys bought stuff.
00:16:41.000 –> 00:16:45.000
It was, to me, Instagram was ablaze that day. I’m not sure why.
00:16:45.000 –> 00:16:47.000
They must have my algorithm messed up.
00:16:47.000 –> 00:16:50.000
I found, maybe because my kids use my account sometimes,
00:16:50.000 –> 00:16:56.000
it was all beauty products and women’s handbags and all stuff I really don’t care about.
00:16:56.000 –> 00:17:01.000
It was basically, I mean, it was ablaze all day with celebrities and endorsements.
00:17:01.000 –> 00:17:06.000
Check this out on Prime. It wasn’t just Instagram. It was X. It was all over.
00:17:06.000 –> 00:17:09.000
I think that’s become the really big thing now on Prime Day.
00:17:09.000 –> 00:17:14.000
You get a celebrity to endorse your stuff and then you market the hell out of it on Prime Day.
00:17:14.000 –> 00:17:20.000
But you got to watch too. One of the things my wife pointed out to me is they put it on Amazon.
00:17:20.000 –> 00:17:24.000
They raised the price when they put it on Amazon. Then they lower it for Prime Day.
00:17:24.000 –> 00:17:26.000
So it’s not really a deal.
00:17:26.000 –> 00:17:31.000
Like, the history, for instance, the Keurig, which we were in the market for a new one,
00:17:31.000 –> 00:17:34.000
the Keurigs really on Prime Day weren’t really that much discounted.
00:17:34.000 –> 00:17:38.000
I mean, they were almost the same price as they were on Walmart or Target.
00:17:38.000 –> 00:17:41.000
So you got to watch. You’re not always getting a deal on Prime Day.
00:17:41.000 –> 00:17:45.000
Very important to really watch that.
00:17:45.000 –> 00:17:49.000
Also too, one thing I did want to bring up about celebrity news,
00:17:49.000 –> 00:17:52.000
I almost forgot about it, but it was here at the bottom of the list.
00:17:52.000 –> 00:17:55.000
Ryan Seacrest started hosting Wheel of Fortune.
00:17:55.000 –> 00:18:00.000
We won’t see him until September, obviously, or whenever the show debuts, late August or September.
00:18:00.000 –> 00:18:04.000
But on his Instagram, it shows him showing up at Wheel of Fortune
00:18:04.000 –> 00:18:09.000
and starting to kind of learn the ropes and do his hosting duties.
00:18:09.000 –> 00:18:12.000
So it’s really cool to see him, man, going over there.
00:18:12.000 –> 00:18:16.000
You know, he is a radio guy like us, so it’s cool to see him over there.
00:18:16.000 –> 00:18:19.000
Obviously, he’s done Idol. Now he’s doing Wheel of Fortune.
00:18:19.000 –> 00:18:21.000
It’s a really easy gig.
00:18:21.000 –> 00:18:26.000
I think they only tape, I believe, one day, maybe two days a week.
00:18:26.000 –> 00:18:29.000
And I think it’s something like, I think, a million a month.
00:18:29.000 –> 00:18:33.000
13, 14, 15 million a year, something that he’s going to get.
00:18:33.000 –> 00:18:37.000
I mean, good for him, man. It’s an easy gig to make a lot of money.
00:18:37.000 –> 00:18:41.000
So good for him. I know a bunch of people who put their hat in for it.
00:18:41.000 –> 00:18:44.000
Whoopi Goldberg wanted to do it.
00:18:44.000 –> 00:18:48.000
Not that I do like Whoopi, but I wasn’t…
00:18:48.000 –> 00:18:51.000
I don’t know. I can’t see her as the host.
00:18:51.000 –> 00:18:54.000
I’m actually surprised Vanna didn’t do it, if I’m being honest.
00:18:54.000 –> 00:18:58.000
I thought Vanna would take over and then somebody would take over for Vanna on the puzzle board.
00:18:58.000 –> 00:19:01.000
That’s what I really thought was going to happen, but it didn’t.
00:19:01.000 –> 00:19:03.000
Like I said, that’s what I thought was going to happen.
00:19:03.000 –> 00:19:06.000
Because Vanna did a good job hosting when Pat was sick.
00:19:06.000 –> 00:19:08.000
I mean, I don’t watch a ton of Wheel of Fortune.
00:19:08.000 –> 00:19:11.000
It’s not my favorite show, but I do watch it from time to time with my kid.
00:19:11.000 –> 00:19:14.000
It helped her learn the alphabet when she was little and stuff like that.
00:19:14.000 –> 00:19:17.000
But like I said, I really thought Vanna would step into that role
00:19:17.000 –> 00:19:20.000
and then somebody else would take over on the puzzle board.
00:19:20.000 –> 00:19:22.000
But apparently Vanna is going to stay what she’s doing.
00:19:22.000 –> 00:19:24.000
And they got Ryan Seacrest.
00:19:24.000 –> 00:19:27.000
I think they wanted to get Ryan because they wanted to bring in a younger audience.
00:19:27.000 –> 00:19:30.000
Ryan Seacrest, when he was on live, brought in a younger audience.
00:19:30.000 –> 00:19:36.000
Because he does… Remember, he’s got that show on Kiss FM, which is a fairly popular radio station.
00:19:36.000 –> 00:19:38.000
So I think they got him because they wanted to bring in a younger audience.
00:19:38.000 –> 00:19:42.000
Because, I mean, the Wheel of Fortune audience is getting older.
00:19:42.000 –> 00:19:44.000
But like I said, good for him.
00:19:44.000 –> 00:19:48.000
It was neat to see him on Instagram doing that stuff, working the puzzle board.
00:19:48.000 –> 00:19:51.000
Or not working the puzzle, working the wheel and all that kind of stuff. It was cool.
00:19:51.000 –> 00:19:54.000
Like I said, I’m glad somebody got it.
00:19:54.000 –> 00:19:58.000
That is probably going to be… He stayed on…
00:19:58.000 –> 00:20:01.000
I mean, he never really leaves anything. He always stays on it.
00:20:01.000 –> 00:20:04.000
So it’s cool to see him, like I said, on there and doing that show.
00:20:04.000 –> 00:20:07.000
I’m actually going to start watching it when he probably starts.
00:20:07.000 –> 00:20:10.000
Because I do like Ryan Seacrest. He’s a radio guy.
00:20:10.000 –> 00:20:13.000
He doesn’t need my support. But I do like him.
00:20:13.000 –> 00:20:14.000
He is a good host.
00:20:14.000 –> 00:20:18.000
Do you have a collection of articles from the internet that you want to read,
00:20:18.000 –> 00:20:21.000
but don’t have time to dive into at the moment?
00:20:21.000 –> 00:20:26.000
ListenLater.net has a new way to handle that problem with podcasting.
00:20:26.000 –> 00:20:30.000
ListenLater.net turns articles into episodes of a podcast.
00:20:30.000 –> 00:20:35.000
So your reading list can be automatically transformed into a podcast.
00:20:35.000 –> 00:20:37.000
It all works via email.
00:20:37.000 –> 00:20:41.000
So you just share any article you want via a special Listen Later email address.
00:20:41.000 –> 00:20:47.000
And ListenLater.net will translate the whole thing into a spoken audio podcast.
00:20:47.000 –> 00:20:51.000
ListenLater uses some really high quality AI voices to read your audio.
00:20:51.000 –> 00:20:54.000
They’re really excellent narrators.
00:20:54.000 –> 00:20:57.000
And you can choose from numerous voice options.
00:20:57.000 –> 00:21:03.000
You can also have ListenLater auto translate articles in other languages into your chosen language.
00:21:03.000 –> 00:21:06.000
Go to ListenLater.net and sign up now. It’s free.
00:21:06.000 –> 00:21:12.000
Plus, Helix Rock Radio listeners get 20% extra credits for their initial purchase
00:21:12.000 –> 00:21:16.000
if they reach out via the support form or the support email address.
00:21:16.000 –> 00:21:24.000
Again, that’s ListenLater.net and sign up and get 20% extra credits by mentioning Helix Rock Radio.
00:21:24.000 –> 00:21:27.000
Big news out of Apple this week.
00:21:27.000 –> 00:21:33.000
They released the first public betas of iOS and Mac OS.
00:21:33.000 –> 00:21:37.000
I actually have downloaded all the betas personally.
00:21:37.000 –> 00:21:46.000
I do really think the one feature that I’m looking forward to on Mac OS is the actual…
00:21:46.000 –> 00:21:49.000
where you can mirror your iPhone over to your computer.
00:21:49.000 –> 00:21:54.000
You’ve actually been able to do that with Galaxy phones and Windows computers for quite some time,
00:21:54.000 –> 00:21:56.000
but it never really took off.
00:21:56.000 –> 00:21:59.000
I’m curious if it’s going to take off now on Apple.
00:21:59.000 –> 00:22:00.000
Probably it will.
00:22:00.000 –> 00:22:03.000
So we will actually have to kind of see.
00:22:03.000 –> 00:22:05.000
I’m actually really looking forward to that.
00:22:05.000 –> 00:22:07.000
I can’t wait to actually mess with it.
00:22:07.000 –> 00:22:10.000
You can put tiling of Windows.
00:22:10.000 –> 00:22:14.000
You’ve been able to do that on third-party apps for quite some time now.
00:22:14.000 –> 00:22:17.000
Apple just decided to build it in natively to the OS now.
00:22:17.000 –> 00:22:20.000
I think that’s pretty cool on Mac OS.
00:22:20.000 –> 00:22:25.000
They also, too, have really upped video conferencing with FaceTime.
00:22:25.000 –> 00:22:27.000
I actually messed with it a little bit.
00:22:27.000 –> 00:22:30.000
You actually can put a different background in and stuff like that.
00:22:30.000 –> 00:22:32.000
They really upped the game on that.
00:22:32.000 –> 00:22:35.000
Safari has some additional viewing modes.
00:22:35.000 –> 00:22:38.000
I’m actually not a big Safari guy myself.
00:22:38.000 –> 00:22:40.000
I know a lot of people that listen are.
00:22:40.000 –> 00:22:44.000
I actually prefer Firefox myself.
00:22:44.000 –> 00:22:50.000
But I know Safari is very popular, even on the phone, so I understand why they’re pushing it.
00:22:50.000 –> 00:22:55.000
It’s definitely right behind Chrome as far as popular browsers, so I get it.
00:22:55.000 –> 00:22:59.000
They’ve also added other features as well, spotlighting and stuff like that.
00:22:59.000 –> 00:23:05.000
In other words, if you pull up an address in Safari now, if you click the button, you can get the address and stuff like that.
00:23:05.000 –> 00:23:13.000
They’ve improved Maps quite a bit on Mac OS, which I don’t know any people that use Maps on Mac OS.
00:23:13.000 –> 00:23:16.000
But apparently it’s a very popular thing for people to use.
00:23:16.000 –> 00:23:17.000
I don’t do it.
00:23:17.000 –> 00:23:23.000
I usually use my phone, but I get it. I do. I do get it.
00:23:23.000 –> 00:23:29.000
And then password, obviously, becoming its own app, which is way overdue.
00:23:29.000 –> 00:23:35.000
They’re going to really compete with the password managers like Bitward and LastPass, 1Password, stuff like that.
00:23:35.000 –> 00:23:41.000
They’ve upped their game with messaging a little bit, with tap-back replies.
00:23:41.000 –> 00:23:50.000
One thing I actually do really like personally that iMessage is adding that they’ve never done before is you’re going to be able now to send a message.
00:23:50.000 –> 00:24:00.000
Instead of texting somebody in the middle of the night and waking them up, if I want to send this text, I can set it up and hit schedule and then send it at 8, 9 in the morning rather than sending it at night.
00:24:00.000 –> 00:24:04.000
I think that is much better personally. I think a lot of people are going to like that.
00:24:04.000 –> 00:24:09.000
Like I said, Apple Maps did add travel navigation to Apple Maps.
00:24:09.000 –> 00:24:13.000
They had topographic maps, topo maps, which are actually pretty good.
00:24:13.000 –> 00:24:19.000
I could see that being, maybe not for me, but I could see the topo maps especially now making the maps more popular.
00:24:19.000 –> 00:24:26.000
Because I know a lot of friends of mine that do need to see the topo maps and to see the heights and stuff like that because they’re kind of work.
00:24:26.000 –> 00:24:30.000
Especially to see if something is in a floodplain or something like that.
00:24:30.000 –> 00:24:40.000
I actually can see them, if they keep adding more features to Apple Maps on Mac OS, I could see it making Apple Maps even more popular on Mac OS.
00:24:40.000 –> 00:24:42.000
That might be their plan, I don’t know.
00:24:42.000 –> 00:24:46.000
They have added some additional stuff to Notes.
00:24:46.000 –> 00:24:54.000
They’ve added a bunch of other stuff, screensaver stuff, desktop stuff, more sizzle than steak if you know what I’m trying to say.
00:24:54.000 –> 00:24:59.000
But definitely I think Mac OS is going to be really cool. I’m looking forward to it.
00:24:59.000 –> 00:25:03.000
I’m more of a desktop OS guy as far as looking forward to the features.
00:25:03.000 –> 00:25:06.000
I know the phone and stuff, we all live with our phones.
00:25:06.000 –> 00:25:12.000
I guess maybe because I’m on the computer all day for work and stuff like that, I guess I really look forward more to the desktop OS stuff.
00:25:12.000 –> 00:25:15.000
But that’s just me, everybody is different.
00:25:15.000 –> 00:25:22.000
They also have made a significant improvement on Mac OS to Photos, which is something they really have, was way overdue I thought.
00:25:22.000 –> 00:25:32.000
iOS, obviously they added a lot of cool features, dark mode, stuff like that, which was way overdue for iOS and the icons and stuff like that.
00:25:32.000 –> 00:25:37.000
Home screens, now you can rearrange your home screens to see your background.
00:25:37.000 –> 00:25:40.000
I’m not really sure why this is such a big thing.
00:25:40.000 –> 00:25:48.000
I know people have been asking for this for a while because they want to see their background, especially the photos of their kids or photos from their vacation and stuff like that.
00:25:48.000 –> 00:25:52.000
They want to see it instead of seeing just tons of icons.
00:25:52.000 –> 00:25:57.000
I don’t understand why you just couldn’t drag the icons to the sides and leave them, because you can customize, I don’t know.
00:25:57.000 –> 00:26:00.000
I’m not really sure why that’s such a big thing, personally.
00:26:00.000 –> 00:26:06.000
I like the fact you can actually edit control center a little better now. I thought that was really cool, way overdue.
00:26:06.000 –> 00:26:15.000
Again, messaging, same thing as Mac OS. You can send stuff timed and stuff like that. That’s something they added.
00:26:15.000 –> 00:26:25.000
Photos off the grid is something else they added, where if you want to keep photos from being seen in the collection, you can do that in case you’re sharing photos.
00:26:25.000 –> 00:26:30.000
They also have the hidden app, if you want to hide apps now, you can do that.
00:26:30.000 –> 00:26:35.000
Like I said, they’ve really made a big difference, a big addition to Photos, which is way overdue.
00:26:35.000 –> 00:26:39.000
Again, maps, stuff they added, same thing they added to Mac OS.
00:26:39.000 –> 00:26:48.000
They do have some additional features now where you can download offline maps, download hiking maps offline, things of that nature.
00:26:48.000 –> 00:26:52.000
They’ve added some privacy improvements, stuff like that.
00:26:52.000 –> 00:26:55.000
The whole thing, I think, is going to be really good. Everybody’s going to be impressed with it.
00:26:55.000 –> 00:27:01.000
I’ve actually been looking, I haven’t seen the beta for the watch yet.
00:27:01.000 –> 00:27:06.000
Maybe I could just be looking in the wrong place. Let me log on here. Let me see. Let me log on.
00:27:06.000 –> 00:27:16.000
I do not see, no, I still don’t see the watch OS beta. Maybe I’m missing it. I don’t know, maybe I don’t have access to it.
00:27:16.000 –> 00:27:23.000
I know they did release the update for iPad OS, which has got the handwriting recognition in notes.
00:27:23.000 –> 00:27:30.000
The calculator, so in other words, if you added, say, on actual notes, if you hit 4+4=, it’ll actually give the answer.
00:27:30.000 –> 00:27:36.000
I thought that was really cool. They’re trying to target a lot of educational features in the new iPad OS.
00:27:36.000 –> 00:27:45.000
iPad OS, believe it or not, didn’t get as big of a bump in stuff as Mac OS and iOS did.
00:27:45.000 –> 00:27:50.000
Watch OS didn’t either. It was kind of one of those weird years for Apple, you know?
00:27:50.000 –> 00:27:54.000
I think they really scrambled to get a lot of AI features out the door.
00:27:54.000 –> 00:28:00.000
And unfortunately, some of the other products suffered a little bit because of it.
00:28:00.000 –> 00:28:04.000
I’m not that suffering, you know what I mean? But you know what I’m trying to say.
00:28:04.000 –> 00:28:10.000
Like I said, if you are interested in the public betas, the public betas are usually pretty decent.
00:28:10.000 –> 00:28:17.000
I still would warn you, if you are going to use a beta, don’t do it on a device you need reliable.
00:28:17.000 –> 00:28:25.000
They do have something called Parallels or VN, or they do have, forget the name off the top of my head,
00:28:25.000 –> 00:28:29.000
of course I’ll remember it once I remember, they have all these virtual players where you can actually say,
00:28:29.000 –> 00:28:36.000
“Okay, go ahead, I want to download this OS, but I want to use it in a virtual machine.”
00:28:36.000 –> 00:28:41.000
And this way you can test out the new features and not risk running it on your actual machine.
00:28:41.000 –> 00:28:45.000
They need it to be reliable. If you are somebody like me who wants to see the features
00:28:45.000 –> 00:28:50.000
but does not want to risk your device that you use every day for work, like I said,
00:28:50.000 –> 00:28:54.000
you can use Parallels or VMware is the other one I was thinking, I couldn’t think of the name of it.
00:28:54.000 –> 00:29:02.000
They actually have where it would say, “Would you like to install the Mac OS betas and install it virtually
00:29:02.000 –> 00:29:08.000
and you can mess with it.” It’s not going to hurt your machine if it’s in the VM on Parallels or VMware.
00:29:08.000 –> 00:29:11.000
So that’s a safe way to do it. And VMware is free if you have a Mac.
00:29:11.000 –> 00:29:15.000
One thing I wanted to do real quickly folks, I like to do it every week,
00:29:15.000 –> 00:29:19.000
is I like to clean out the mailbag where you guys send me a bunch of your questions
00:29:19.000 –> 00:29:24.000
and stuff you want to ask me. It’s mostly tech stuff if I’m being honest with you.
00:29:24.000 –> 00:29:32.000
Brandon@rockradio.live, also if you go to rockradio.live and there’s my email right there as well.
00:29:32.000 –> 00:29:35.000
And please let me know by the way if it’s me or one of the other hosts.
00:29:35.000 –> 00:29:38.000
The other day I was reading through stuff, I’m like, “Oh, this is for somebody else.”
00:29:38.000 –> 00:29:45.000
So make sure you put which show in the subject line so we know which one of us it is for.
00:29:45.000 –> 00:29:47.000
I appreciate that.
00:29:47.000 –> 00:29:50.000
Somebody asked me, and this is actually a really good question,
00:29:50.000 –> 00:29:57.000
they want to get a HomePod for their parents because they’re not a fan of Amazon.
00:29:57.000 –> 00:30:01.000
Will it work well? My parents are not very tech savvy.
00:30:01.000 –> 00:30:05.000
My only, I hate to say this, but I really recommend the Echo.
00:30:05.000 –> 00:30:09.000
I know you don’t like it. Or even the Google one would work.
00:30:09.000 –> 00:30:16.000
I really don’t recommend the HomePod. They’re not as smart.
00:30:16.000 –> 00:30:25.000
Siri is just really stupid. Maybe eventually it’s going to get better once Apple rolls out some more AI features.
00:30:25.000 –> 00:30:30.000
But I really would recommend, if you’re not a fan of the Apple stuff, get them maybe the Google one.
00:30:30.000 –> 00:30:32.000
It just would be easier for them.
00:30:32.000 –> 00:30:39.000
I feel like the Amazon Echo is the best. Google runs a very close second there.
00:30:39.000 –> 00:30:41.000
And I feel like the HomePod is way behind.
00:30:41.000 –> 00:30:49.000
To me, the HomePod is more of a competitor for a Sonos than it would be for something like smart speakers.
00:30:49.000 –> 00:30:51.000
Because it’s really not that smart.
00:30:51.000 –> 00:30:56.000
I definitely would say, if you were telling me you were looking for the best music quality for your parents,
00:30:56.000 –> 00:30:58.000
I would say go with a HomePod or a Sonos.
00:30:58.000 –> 00:31:06.000
But if they are looking for, they want a smart home device, like I said, really, if you’re not a fan of Amazon, get the Google one.
00:31:06.000 –> 00:31:11.000
It’s going to be so much better for them. And they are really going to like it a lot better.
00:31:11.000 –> 00:31:16.000
Somebody asked, and by the way, I would like to point out, by the way, if you are getting a smart home speaker,
00:31:16.000 –> 00:31:20.000
remember Helix Rock Radio, 24/7 on all home speakers.
00:31:20.000 –> 00:31:28.000
That goes for Madam A, the Google ones, it goes for the HomePods, it goes all that.
00:31:28.000 –> 00:31:31.000
You can get Helix Rock Radio on all of them and the Sonos as well.
00:31:31.000 –> 00:31:34.000
So we are available on all home speakers.
00:31:34.000 –> 00:31:40.000
So please, like I said, take the time and listen to us if you have smart speakers.
00:31:40.000 –> 00:31:45.000
Somebody else asked, I have a 2013 MacBook Pro.
00:31:45.000 –> 00:31:51.000
Everything else is good on it, but the battery just does not last. I have to keep it plugged in all the time.
00:31:51.000 –> 00:31:53.000
Is it worth changing the battery?
00:31:53.000 –> 00:31:56.000
I would, man. A battery is the cheapest thing.
00:31:56.000 –> 00:31:59.000
You can get a battery on Amazon, especially for something a little older like that.
00:31:59.000 –> 00:32:04.000
You can get a battery on Amazon for 40, 50 bucks for that and swap it out.
00:32:04.000 –> 00:32:08.000
They are really easy to do. You can look it up on Google or bring it in.
00:32:08.000 –> 00:32:11.000
Our sponsor, All American Computer Repair, can help you out with that.
00:32:11.000 –> 00:32:16.000
It really is such an easy thing. It is the cheapest thing to do. You can do it for under 100 bucks, 120 bucks.
00:32:16.000 –> 00:32:20.000
I would do it. It is the cheapest thing. It is worth it.
00:32:20.000 –> 00:32:24.000
If you really like the MacBook Pro and you really want to keep it going, I would get the battery.
00:32:24.000 –> 00:32:26.000
It is cheap enough.
00:32:26.000 –> 00:32:31.000
Somebody asked, why can’t I charge my laptop with USB-C?
00:32:31.000 –> 00:32:35.000
That is because not all USB-C is created equal.
00:32:35.000 –> 00:32:41.000
Some USB-C, like on the Mac and stuff like that, are good for charging.
00:32:41.000 –> 00:32:46.000
Others, you can only use it as an adapter or a dongle.
00:32:46.000 –> 00:32:53.000
Not all USB-C is created equal. There are maybe six different versions of USB-C right now.
00:32:53.000 –> 00:32:56.000
It is really a pain in the butt. I really want them to standardize that.
00:32:56.000 –> 00:32:59.000
You should be able to charge over USB-C. It is not that much more money.
00:32:59.000 –> 00:33:02.000
But the motherboard manufacturer has to support it.
00:33:02.000 –> 00:33:09.000
What I have found is on the lower end laptops, specifically Windows machines,
00:33:09.000 –> 00:33:15.000
the lower end ones, the two, three, four hundred bucks you get on Black Friday or sale on the weekend,
00:33:15.000 –> 00:33:27.000
those they do not charge because they purposely, to cut corners, they will make it so that the system board does not charge with it.
00:33:27.000 –> 00:33:32.000
It is something to do with they can save a couple of dollars here, a couple of dollars there.
00:33:32.000 –> 00:33:34.000
It is part of the cost cutting measures.
00:33:34.000 –> 00:33:40.000
The way you can tell though, if you look at the side of the USB-C, if there is a light on it or a little thunderbolt looking thing,
00:33:40.000 –> 00:33:44.000
that means it can charge. That is unfortunately why.
00:33:44.000 –> 00:33:47.000
Unfortunately, if it does not support it, there is no way to support it.
00:33:47.000 –> 00:33:51.000
It has got to be built under the motherboard. But that may be why.
00:33:51.000 –> 00:33:55.000
Somebody asked one last question here that I thought was a pretty interesting question.
00:33:55.000 –> 00:34:01.000
Somebody had said they want surround sound TV, but my wife does not want wires all around the house.
00:34:01.000 –> 00:34:07.000
You could go with a Sonos. Sonos does have lower end, when I say lower end, like three hundred bucks,
00:34:07.000 –> 00:34:10.000
lower end surround sound systems you could get.
00:34:10.000 –> 00:34:14.000
And then the one thing that is nice, if you get Sonos, you could piecemeal it.
00:34:14.000 –> 00:34:19.000
So say you get two speakers and then say a couple, six months from now your wife will decide,
00:34:19.000 –> 00:34:24.000
“Oh, we want to put ones in the back or ones on the left or ones on the right, whatever.”
00:34:24.000 –> 00:34:29.000
You can keep adding to it. Sometimes when you get those surround sound systems from Best Buy,
00:34:29.000 –> 00:34:34.000
everything comes at once. With the Sonos system, it is all wireless and you can kind of keep adding to it
00:34:34.000 –> 00:34:37.000
and grow with it as you grow your…
00:34:37.000 –> 00:34:43.000
A couple of quick programming notes, folks. We will be at the Honesdale Sidewalk Sale.
00:34:43.000 –> 00:34:49.000
We were there yesterday, Friday, and we are there today, all day. Come hang out, come check out.
00:34:49.000 –> 00:34:54.000
We have swag, we have all that kind of stuff. We will load you up with a t-shirt, a bottle, stickers,
00:34:54.000 –> 00:34:59.000
all kinds of stuff. Come on and hang out with us. That is the Honesdale Sidewalk Sale.
00:34:59.000 –> 00:35:02.000
Like I said, we were there yesterday. We are going to be there all day today.
00:35:02.000 –> 00:35:08.000
So come on and check it out. I will be there all day. Well, all day once I am done with this show.
00:35:08.000 –> 00:35:13.000
But I will be there most of the day. We actually kicked the show off actually an hour early,
00:35:13.000 –> 00:35:17.000
just so I could be there today a little earlier. So come check us out.
00:35:17.000 –> 00:35:23.000
Also too, folks, I would like to point out, we have a new Android app out much better than the old one.
00:35:23.000 –> 00:35:25.000
I know a lot of you guys are having issues with the old one.
00:35:25.000 –> 00:35:30.000
The new one is just a player, plays music. It is a template. It is really great.
00:35:30.000 –> 00:35:35.000
No more issues. I have had people listening to it for hours and it hasn’t crashed.
00:35:35.000 –> 00:35:41.000
It is out for Android now and it will be out for iOS. We hope within the next week or two.
00:35:41.000 –> 00:35:43.000
We are working with the developers right now.
00:35:43.000 –> 00:35:49.000
We hopefully, like I said, by the end of the week, we hope the end of next week we are pushing.
00:35:49.000 –> 00:35:55.000
But like I said, please check out the new app. Like I said, it is available on Android right now.
00:35:55.000 –> 00:36:00.000
And the new, like I said, iOS app we hope will be out by the end of the week.
00:36:00.000 –> 00:36:06.000
What a week, by the way, for technology and advertising. And here is what I mean by that.
00:36:06.000 –> 00:36:16.000
Facebook announced this week that ads for Windows desktop themes, push infos.
00:36:16.000 –> 00:36:24.000
And what they are doing, Facebook business pages and advertising is apparently going to get a big push now.
00:36:24.000 –> 00:36:28.000
They are working with Microsoft. If you download, there is going to be like a Facebook.
00:36:28.000 –> 00:36:33.000
You know how Facebook has like apps and stuff like that you can download, like games and stuff like that?
00:36:33.000 –> 00:36:40.000
They are working with Microsoft now to have Facebook advertising actually in Microsoft.
00:36:40.000 –> 00:36:42.000
That is what they are saying anyway.
00:36:42.000 –> 00:36:50.000
The other one is Microsoft announced that they are advertising, they are adding advertising now to the Microsoft store.
00:36:50.000 –> 00:36:53.000
Which is, I do not know how many, I mean I do get apps from the store.
00:36:53.000 –> 00:36:58.000
But I do not know many people that, I do not know how many people they are really going to get with that.
00:36:58.000 –> 00:37:03.000
But Microsoft is announcing that you can now advertise in the Microsoft store.
00:37:03.000 –> 00:37:09.000
I actually maybe could see that for video games. Because I know a lot of people that go through the store to get games.
00:37:09.000 –> 00:37:13.000
I could actually see them doing that with games being a big thing.
00:37:13.000 –> 00:37:19.000
But the big one that really got to me was obviously, like you guys know we were talking about before.
00:37:19.000 –> 00:37:33.000
I do watch business news and stock market and Taboola apparently has struck a deal with Apple to sell ads on their platform in Apple news and Apple stocks.
00:37:33.000 –> 00:37:41.000
So that was big news for them. Like I said, Apple saying this could be a billion dollar business.
00:37:41.000 –> 00:37:50.000
You know, the deal, I mean Taboola’s business is, I mean they are not a huge company.
00:37:50.000 –> 00:37:55.000
But they are saying this could predominantly be almost 1.4 billion in them for revenue.
00:37:55.000 –> 00:37:58.000
So if you know if they are making that, Apple is making something.
00:37:58.000 –> 00:38:07.000
Apple has said recently in Business Insider that they see possibly advertising as being their next billion dollar business.
00:38:07.000 –> 00:38:13.000
You know, I mean it’s only going to be in stocks and in news.
00:38:13.000 –> 00:38:18.000
So it’s not like it’s going to be like you are on your phone and things are popping up on you.
00:38:18.000 –> 00:38:24.000
It’s only going to be in your, like I said Apple, well right now we don’t know. Apple could expand that.
00:38:24.000 –> 00:38:30.000
We already know they allow advertising on their app store but that’s been like that forever now.
00:38:30.000 –> 00:38:38.000
But they are saying the advertisement, like I said, right now it’s just going to be in news and in the stock, the news app and the stocks app.
00:38:38.000 –> 00:38:46.000
And I guess it’s going to be if you pay for Apple news plus, I mean you are going to get, I mean ads in your plus app, you know your plus stuff too.
00:38:46.000 –> 00:38:55.000
But you know, I don’t know, I feel like I know it’s a billion dollar business for Apple but I’m just worried.
00:38:55.000 –> 00:39:04.000
I mean I’m sure eventually they’ll start sticking. I mean they already kind of add ads in Apple TV because they are promoting other shows but they are not making money out of it.
00:39:04.000 –> 00:39:13.000
So we’ll have to wait and see what happens. I could see them maybe doing ads in fitness for fitness products maybe.
00:39:13.000 –> 00:39:16.000
I don’t know, we’ll have to wait and see what Apple does with this.
00:39:16.000 –> 00:39:22.000
Currently, you know, Apple’s advertising business is, I mean relatively small.
00:39:22.000 –> 00:39:31.000
I mean it’s only 1.8 billion, now that I know that’s a huge number to say small but for them as a company it’s not that big when you really think how huge Apple is.
00:39:31.000 –> 00:39:39.000
But I mean you have other companies like Meta, Alpha and Amazon that advertising on smartphones is their home business.
00:39:39.000 –> 00:39:44.000
So we’ll have to see if Apple can get a tiny chunk of this market, it’s big for them.
00:39:44.000 –> 00:39:52.000
And that’s why Microsoft’s pushing so hard to get into the advertising stuff on Windows because it’s all money for them.
00:39:52.000 –> 00:39:58.000
It’s revenue and it’s revenues they’re not getting, especially Microsoft on a product they have to give away for free.
00:39:58.000 –> 00:40:03.000
So like I said, we will have to see what happens with that.
00:40:03.000 –> 00:40:10.000
I mean like I said, a lot of news with that. Really curious to see what’s going to happen.
00:40:10.000 –> 00:40:19.000
But I can’t see Apple being overly intrusive with it because they know how valuable the user base is and they’re not going to want to alienate that user base by ads and stuff like that.
00:40:19.000 –> 00:40:24.000
So, you know, I’m sure something will happen but we’ll have to keep an eye on it.
00:40:24.000 –> 00:40:32.000
One of the things I do have here is an interesting thing that I did find on Apple News today.
00:40:32.000 –> 00:40:40.000
If you can find it, look it up. It actually says depending on your Zodiac sign depends on what day of the week you are.
00:40:40.000 –> 00:40:43.000
So look it up. I thought it was kind of a cool little thing.
00:40:43.000 –> 00:40:50.000
If you actually, so what happens is you ask somebody, “Hey, what day of the week do you like the best?”
00:40:50.000 –> 00:40:55.000
And depending on that day of the week, they actually have a little horoscope for you on that.
00:40:55.000 –> 00:41:02.000
I thought that was interesting. Personally, I don’t know if I could pick a favorite day of the week.
00:41:02.000 –> 00:41:06.000
You know, I don’t know. I’m not sure what I picked for that.
00:41:06.000 –> 00:41:11.000
So, quick things, stories, crazy stories of the week that somebody sent me.
00:41:11.000 –> 00:41:19.000
Apparently, somebody, so somebody threw a bridal shower for somebody else.
00:41:19.000 –> 00:41:21.000
I’m only bringing this up because my wife handed me this story.
00:41:21.000 –> 00:41:30.000
And apparently, they are charging a cover charge for the bridal shower to cover the cost of the bridal shower.
00:41:30.000 –> 00:41:39.000
Apparently, obviously, this is not normal. Usually, the person that throws it covers the expense and the person that they’re throwing it for gets gifts and stuff like that.
00:41:39.000 –> 00:41:47.000
But apparently, you were supposed to bring a gift and also too if you’re coming, you have to pay the cover charge.
00:41:47.000 –> 00:41:51.000
I thought that was rather interesting.
00:41:51.000 –> 00:41:57.000
Also too, another crazy story. I hope my wife put together crazy stories this week. She likes to do that.
00:41:57.000 –> 00:42:06.000
A restaurant in Florida apparently has an age limit. Or, I’m sorry, it’s an age requirement. Excuse me.
00:42:06.000 –> 00:42:14.000
So, apparently, if you want to go there, if you’re a man, you have to be over the age of 25.
00:42:14.000 –> 00:42:20.000
And if you’re a woman, you have to be over the age of 22.
00:42:20.000 –> 00:42:26.000
So, apparently, there is an age limit to eat at this fine restaurant.
00:42:26.000 –> 00:42:32.000
Apparently, the restaurant says they ask your age not because of drinking.
00:42:32.000 –> 00:42:35.000
A lot of clubs are 18 to party, 21 to drink.
00:42:35.000 –> 00:42:42.000
But they ask because they’re fine dining and they don’t want any riff-raff from any younger customers.
00:42:42.000 –> 00:42:46.000
So, you have to be a certain age to go there.
00:42:46.000 –> 00:42:49.000
I mean, it’s their restaurant. They can create the atmosphere they want.
00:42:49.000 –> 00:42:56.000
If that’s what they want to do because they don’t want young people causing a scene or making an issue, I guess that’s their prerogative.
00:42:56.000 –> 00:43:04.000
I don’t know about that one. I don’t know. I guess clubs you have to be 21 for legal limits.
00:43:04.000 –> 00:43:08.000
But this is because they want to create the atmosphere. I don’t know. I’m not sure about that one.
00:43:08.000 –> 00:43:10.000
I thought that one was kind of weird.
00:43:10.000 –> 00:43:18.000
The other weird story of the week was, apparently, couples, there’s a new trend in this country.
00:43:18.000 –> 00:43:22.000
Obviously, things are changing.
00:43:22.000 –> 00:43:29.000
Apparently, couples, they said couples nowadays go on separate anniversary trips.
00:43:29.000 –> 00:43:33.000
So, apparently, if it’s your anniversary, your wife will go somewhere and you go someplace else.
00:43:33.000 –> 00:43:39.000
Generally, couples used to spend anniversaries together, but now they’re saying there’s a trend in this country
00:43:39.000 –> 00:43:43.000
where people go on separate trips for their anniversary.
00:43:43.000 –> 00:43:46.000
So, my wife may go to Hawaii. I may go to Florida.
00:43:46.000 –> 00:43:51.000
But we’re all celebrating our anniversary. We’re just not celebrating it together.
00:43:51.000 –> 00:43:57.000
Interesting. Yeah, I thought that was interesting.
00:43:57.000 –> 00:44:06.000
The other thing, too, they’re saying that apparently this couple anniversary separation
00:44:06.000 –> 00:44:11.000
started right after COVID. They’re saying that’s when it started.
00:44:11.000 –> 00:44:14.000
Okay, so it started after COVID because people wanted to get away from each other.
00:44:14.000 –> 00:44:15.000
They’re spending so much time together.
00:44:15.000 –> 00:44:18.000
But if it’s your wedding anniversary, I’d imagine you want to spend it together.
00:44:18.000 –> 00:44:21.000
I don’t know if I really… That one’s a little bit weird.
00:44:21.000 –> 00:44:26.000
I thought that was a weird story. I tell you, for me, I think that might be the weirdest one out of all of them, personally.
00:44:26.000 –> 00:44:30.000
But then again, I don’t really go to a lot of fancy restaurants and I don’t really…
00:44:30.000 –> 00:44:32.000
I’ve never been to a bridal shower.
00:44:32.000 –> 00:44:42.000
Some entertainment news just to go over. Deadpool has already broken a rated R ticket sale record.
00:44:42.000 –> 00:44:46.000
It releases next… Well, actually, it releases this coming Friday.
00:44:46.000 –> 00:44:50.000
So, it already has broken, rated R ticket sales. It’s not even open yet.
00:44:50.000 –> 00:44:56.000
I’m waiting to see… I bet you… I’m waiting for that movie to break a lot of records, actually, personally.
00:44:56.000 –> 00:45:00.000
Everybody agrees with me. I think that is going to be a huge record breaker.
00:45:00.000 –> 00:45:05.000
I have a feeling that’s going to bring Marvel back. He says it in the trailer, remember?
00:45:05.000 –> 00:45:09.000
But like I said, I really think that’s going to break records. It already broke the rated R record.
00:45:09.000 –> 00:45:11.000
And I think it’s just going to keep breaking records.
00:45:11.000 –> 00:45:16.000
I think that’s going to be the biggest blockbuster of the summer as far as gross revenue goes.
00:45:16.000 –> 00:45:25.000
I really do. I could see that. I really, honestly, could see that possibly even possibly breaking the Avengers record.
00:45:25.000 –> 00:45:28.000
We’ll have to see what happens. I’m very curious about it.
00:45:28.000 –> 00:45:35.000
Also, two big news. I want to bring up Cobra Kai released its first part this past week.
00:45:35.000 –> 00:45:38.000
Second part will be out in November, for those of you that were interested.
00:45:38.000 –> 00:45:45.000
I really like that show, man. Cobra Kai was a show that started out as a YouTube original series.
00:45:45.000 –> 00:45:49.000
And now went to Netflix and kind of gave it new life and all that.
00:45:49.000 –> 00:45:52.000
I really, really like the show. Fortunately, this is the last season for it.
00:45:52.000 –> 00:45:57.000
But I think it was a good show. I really think it gets people like my kid into it.
00:45:57.000 –> 00:46:02.000
It got me into it again. I think it was just the right show at the right time.
00:46:02.000 –> 00:46:05.000
Right bracket. Age bracket. Hits the right people.
00:46:05.000 –> 00:46:08.000
And really, really did really, really huge.
00:46:08.000 –> 00:46:14.000
Another thing I’d like to bring up as well. Not that they need our help.
00:46:14.000 –> 00:46:20.000
Relay FM, they are a podcast network that I’ve been listening to for quite a few years.
00:46:20.000 –> 00:46:25.000
They’ve been around even before us. They’re having their 10th anniversary on July 27th.
00:46:25.000 –> 00:46:29.000
They’re actually doing it. I mean, tickets aren’t expensive. They’re about 30 bucks.
00:46:29.000 –> 00:46:32.000
It’s over in London. But good for those guys, man.
00:46:32.000 –> 00:46:34.000
It’s really hard to make a podcast network work in this day and age.
00:46:34.000 –> 00:46:40.000
We see this troubles that Compound Media and Twitch. I’m sorry, Twit.
00:46:40.000 –> 00:46:46.000
And a lot of other companies are having. And Relay FM has seemed to really hang in there.
00:46:46.000 –> 00:46:50.000
They keep doing the same thing they’ve always done. And I’m very lucky for them.
00:46:50.000 –> 00:46:54.000
So, proud of them. Good luck. Good for them. Glad they’re having an anniversary show.
00:46:54.000 –> 00:47:06.000
And they also do, by the way. Every year they do a thing for St. Jude’s where they raise, I think, over half a million dollars last year for St. Jude’s.
00:47:06.000 –> 00:47:11.000
So, they’re a great company. They do great work. And good for them, man.
00:47:11.000 –> 00:47:17.000
They are an audio-only network like us, man. And they are still going at it. Still ticking.
00:47:17.000 –> 00:47:23.000
So, good for them. And happy 10th anniversary to Relay FM.
00:47:23.000 –> 00:47:29.000
I want to thank you guys, as always, for waking up with me here on Saturday morning.
00:47:29.000 –> 00:47:37.000
I really do appreciate it. I love my audience. I love the way you guys hang out with me and wake up with me Saturday morning.
00:47:37.000 –> 00:47:40.000
It really is the best part of my week.
00:47:40.000 –> 00:47:49.000
Also, too, again, I just want to say the Honesdale Sidewalk Sale. We will be there all day today.
00:47:49.000 –> 00:47:56.000
And we were there yesterday, but we will be there all day today. I want to thank everybody for hanging out with me in the morning.
00:47:56.000 –> 00:48:01.000
Again, Helix, Rock, I’m sorry, rockradio.live. I’ve got to stop doing that.
